Lyana Debaux's POV
I was groaning and my head was throbbing badly. I was gripping my head before I was sitting up. I was blinking a few times before I was looking around. It was dark with little lights that coming from the holes that were above me.
I was looking around before I heard the water was flowing and the smell was pungent. If I have to guess, I was in the sewage system before I was steadying myself on the wall of the drainage and I went to the end of the tunnel.
I was blocking my eyes when the sun was harsh before I gasped as I was looking around me. The people were dressing in the era that was long forgotten but they were running around like it was normal. I was looking at the sky before I saw something that was wrong.
"No," I whispered as I was looking at the unfinished Eiffel Tower that was still under construction. I was blinking a few times before I was looking around and it was all real.
Too real for my taste.
I was gulping when I saw the women and men were working in the busy street of Old Paris. I was breathing hard before I was looking across the bridge as the footsteps were echoing under the bridge.
Our eyes met and I was taking a deep breath. Edmond was looking at me and I was not wearing my mask as I was feeling naked right now.
"Shit," I said before I was running off from the bridge.
"Lyana, stop!" Edmond called after me as I was making my way through the busy streets. People were shouting as I was shoving them to the side before I was looking behind me. Edmond was pursuing me before I was taking a turn and it was a dead end.
"Shit," I said before I turned and Edmond was looking at me. I was breathing hard as I was still wearing my blue fedora and coat.
"So, the elusive La Femme Bleu has revealed herself at last," Edmond said as I was looking at him. He smirked bitterly before he was shaking his head.
"I should have known why you're close to me and let me taste your—"
"It's not like that. I don't know who you are until the exhibition. But the first time I met you—"
"Lies. You approached me when you know I was the security guard of the Louvre, the one that was responsible for the Tanzanite of Africa." Edmond said as I was shaking my head.
"No, Edmond, I—"
"Just shut your mouth hole. I don't want to hear more lies," he said as he was taking a menacing step toward me. I was shaking my head before a horse neighed.
"Is everything okay here?" Someone was asking us as Edmond was turning to look at the guard that was wearing the traditional breeches and coat for a French soldier. I was looking at the guard before I was looking at Edmond. The guard was arching his eyebrow at our choice of clothing.
"No, it is fine, monsieur. My husband here," I said as Edmond was turning sharply at me and narrowing his eyes at me before I was warning him with my eyes.
"We were having some quarrel. Nothing much," I said as I was chuckling before I was gripping Edmond's arm as I was pulling him to the side. The guard was looking at our clothing before he was shaking his head and went off. I sighed with relief.
"Great, now you wanted me to lie as your husband?" Edmond said as he was releasing his hand from my grip. I let it slide.
"What do you mean lie? Of course, we have to! We don't even know where we are," I said as I was glaring at him before I saw a newspaper that was laying on the ground. I was looking at the date and gasped before Edmond was taking me before he scoffed.
"April 23rd, 1772. Great, just great. Do you suppose we have to say that we back in the Victorian Era then?" He asked me as I was looking at the building. It all makes sense as I was looking at the unfinished Eiffel Tower and all that.
The people.
The tension.
The tight security.
"We have to get out of here," I said as I was pulling Edmond. He was still resisting before I was looking at the sun. it was almost time.
"We have to get off the street now if you still want to see another day, Edmond. Please, I just ask you to hide and then we can discuss what was going on again," I said as I was tugging at his arm before he was trying to release himself from my grip.
"No, not until you tell me what I wanted to hear," he said as I can hear the horn of the warning that I read in the encyclopedia of my family history. Why is this Scottish man was being difficult at this moment?!
"Edmond," I warned him before the hearing of the gunfire can be heard from afar. Edmond was looking at that direction before I was taking my leave.
"Fine, if you want to die in the La Viva Resistance, then be my guest. I'm out of here," I said as I was running off the streets before I heard the footsteps that were following. I smiled before I was taking a left turn and I was hiding in between the building that was small enough for me.
I took off my coat and fedora as I was left with my leather suit before Edmond was coming inside the small space as well. I glared at him before he was putting his finger on his mouth and we can hear the marching of the people right now. I was sighing before Edmond was trapping me between his arms.
"What are you doing?" I asked him as he was putting his hands on either side of my head as I was looking into his blue orbs. They were on fire or should I say, they were burning with anger right now.
"You have a lot of explanation to do, Ms. Debaux. Or was the name was not yours as well?" He asked as I was rolling my eyes at him. I heard someone that was coming into the street and I cannot think if Edmond was still furious at me and the next thing I know, I was kissing him.
I was pulling his nape before my erected nipples were teasing his chest before I was looking at the entrance of the small space that we were inside right now.
A man was shoving the fire inside the space and when he was looking at our entangled lips and body, he smirked before he was moving ahead. I don't think the French did change when it comes to sexuality or the expression that we used outside the bedroom.
They approved almost everything that was being done in an unorthodox way possible.
Edmond was biting my lower lips before I was breaking the kiss. He was glaring at me before I was licking my lower lips. I tasted something tangy as I was licking my lips. He bit me.
Edmond Lattone bit my lips!
"What is wrong with you? I tried to save us from being caught by the revolts but you just have to make it difficult," I said as I was shoving him out of the way and out of the small space before I was walking away as I was tucking the coat and fedora in my hand. Edmond growled before he pulled my coat and fedora and put it on me.
"Hey!"
"You don't sashay your ass anywhere that any man can see. I don't like it," he said as I was smirking at him.
"Oh? And why should you care? You only wanted me to get inside the prison when we sort out where we are, or exactly when we are," I said as I was putting the coat on properly and I was putting the fedora to complete the look.
"I thought your hair was black as midnight?" Edmond asked me as I was shoving my hair behind my shoulders. I was rolling my eyes at him before I put my hands on my hips.
"Oh, don't you know? That was my secret disguise. I cannot let the man that I was pursuing to know my real identity," I said before Edmond stiffened.
"Too bad, he did," he said as I was walking ahead of him. I have to find a way to get out of this mess and I know that Edmond would not appreciate that I can get us out of this mess.
He was stubborn that way.
"Where are you going?" He called after me when the night was settling in and the alley was dark. It was the 18th century so the lamp lights were not helping much.
"Why do you care?"
"Because…we don't know where we are!" Edmond said before he was pulling me to look at me. He was holding my hand and I was sighing. I think I have to tell this man what was going on right now.
"Look. We're in the past and I know why. That gem, Tanzanite of Africa was the one that brought us here. But unfortunately, we don't have the gem to trigger it so that we can go back to our time. So, like it or not, I will find a way to locate the gem and you will not stand in my way," I said before Edmond was gripping his hands on my arms.
"I can help you," he said before I was arching my eyebrow.
"And how exactly you help me?" I asked him before he smirked at me.
"First, we have to lose these looks. It was so for the future," he said as he was pulling me out of the alley.
