Chapter 4 - Leaving Home

Juda slowly opened his eyes, a smile on his face from the moment he woke up.

Yesterday when Juda had arrived home, he had proudly presented the newly bought clothes to his family. Though they had been a bit upset that he had gone out and spent money on the family instead of himself, they quickly perked up when they saw the clothes he had purchased for them. They had spent the rest of the day admiring clothes and fooling around as a family as the next day Juda had to leave for school and wouldn't be back for weeks or even months.

Now, as he stood up from the floor, Juda could feel a slow building excitement that he had been keeping a lid over nearly all week. He was unable to keep his enthusiasm and curiosity from going over the top as he removed the piece of wood he kept over his doorway and walked out.

Today was the day that Mako finally started his journey on his goal to become an Elite Magician, taking his first steps on his path to making his dreams a reality. He had no grand dream of becoming the strongest Magician, only one that involved making tons of new friends and learning loads of new things. Before this whole situation happened, Juda had only been homeschooled by his father who was exceptionally smart for reasons his father always seemed to wave aside. He never had any friends which was precisely why he intended to make as many as possible at Mastik Academy.

Juda stopped by the bathroom where he had placed his purchased outfit and began to change. With his first day, he wanted to look his best even though he never really minded the hand-me-downs his dad had always given him. However, according to his father, if he dressed like someone from the slums while in school, he would be prone to bullying from practically everyone. Juda didn't really get this as everyone probably already knew he was from the slums anyways as it wasn't a huge secret but he decided to listen to his dad as Juda always did because he was usually on the mark about these things.

After fully clothing himself, Juda picked up the lamp again and headed towards his room where he picked up the extremely large pack that his parents had bought around 3 days ago that could store clothes and numerous other things without too much trouble. This bag full of clothes along with the coin he had bought yesterday, that he decided to call "Raijin", were the only things he would be bringing with him to Mastik Academy.

Slinging the bag onto his back, Juda walked out of the room and headed to his sisters room. He had already said goodbye to his family yesterday as he had to leave early in the morning, but as his sister had fallen asleep earlier then everyone else, he hadn't had time to tell her goodbye.

After knocking a few times out of courtesy, Juda entered his sisters room but was caught off guard the moment he stepped into the room. He had fully expected his sister to be sleeping and that he would have to either wake her up or talk to her sleeping figure, instead he was now facing a room lit up with candles and a completely naked June Aburriah checking herself out in her full length mirror that father had bought for her 2 days ago.

Juda blinked and stood there for a second before closing the door behind him as silently as possible. June hadn't noticed him yet and was still looking herself over leaving Juda to wonder why she would even want to look at her reflection. Both him and mother constantly told her she was beautfiul and she never showed a hint of being narcissistic so it was just confusing to him why she would want to gaze at herself so intensely in the mirror. Of course it was simply possible that he himself was just too dumb to understand his sisters way of thinking so in the end he just let it go.

However even as he let go of his confusion, he couldn't help but admire how gorgeous his sister looked in the light of the candles. Smooth skin without a single flaw, well developed curves despite her young age, long shiny black hair that contrasted his own short white hair. She was the definition of beauty, almost an exact replica of their mother and it made Juda want to protect and care for her happiness even more.

It was at this moment when Juda was admiring his sisters beauty that June finally noticed that she wasn't alone in the room anymore. Having initially woken up to put on one of the set of clothes her big brother Juda had brought for her yesterday so she could send him off, she turned around to find the very same person standing by the doorway. He had the same look that he always had on when he looked at her, a look of warmth and kindness that seemed to be deeply rooted in who her brother was and what he represented.

Of course just because her brother wasn't looking at her with perverted eyes didn't mean that she was any less embarassed as she gave a small squeal before grabbing her blanket from the floor and covering herself up. "What the hell are you doing in my room Juda? Haven't you heard of knocking??"

June watched as her brother laughed softly and walked over to her, setting his bag down onto the ground as he did so. "Relax, I'm not gonna attack you. I just wanted to see you before I head out for school. Also, just for the record I did indeed knock on the door. You just didn't hear me."

June slowly lowered the cover, no longer caring after getting over the initial embarassment. "Wait, your leaving already? I thought you were gonna leave late in the morning? I wanted to wear one of the outfits you got for me."

June was a bit upset as she lowered her head, but what her brother did next only served to make her even more emotional. A warm strong hand, one from years of working and helping others, landed gently on her head and rubbed it gently. This simple gesture caused her to tear up, something that she herself had been holding off and trying not to do.

This wasnt some simple week-long vacation or some quick trip. Her brother whom she had had around for years, whom she had played with and laughed with and shared all the joys and sorrows with her would be leaving her for what could be months without her even being able to see or visit him. She had been avoiding these feelings ever since father had proposed the idea of him leaving for school, wanting to send him off with a strong expression and let him know that she could take care of things in his place.

Now, with Juda's hand on her head, tears vegan spilling out and her chest tightened up. From the moment she was born, her brother had been her role model, her entire world. She had looked up to him and always followed after him, admiring his strength and the kindness he always emanated. Having to say goodbye for such a long period of time, something that had never happened before, was much harder then she could've ever imagined.

Throwing the blanket aside, June ran into her brothers arms, not caring that her naked body was pressed up against her brothers. She wanted to hug him and never let go, but since it wasnt possible she decided to simply get what she could in this one moment before the warmth that was her brother left her. She knew she was being overdramatic but she didn't care as she pressed her face against her brothers chest, tears streaming down her face.

"Big brother," June said as she held onto him tightly. "I'm sorry for crying and ruining your clothes but please hold me for a bit?? Just a little?"

Judas smile never wavered once as he wrapped his arms around June's waist. "Its okay Ju-ju, your brother will always be here to hold you, even when we're apart."

The two of them stood there for what could have easily been half a day or half a century. It didnt matter how long they stood there as Juda planned to remain where he was until his sister had calmed down. He didn't want to ruin her moment and would let her come to accept his departure at her own pace.

June eventually pulled away her tears having already stopped falling. She still felt pain in her chest and had a lump in her throat, but she felt much better after releasing most of her pent up emotion.

"Thanks for that Juda," June said as she placed a hand on her brothers chest. "I'm glad you came here to say goodbye. I would've nevr forgiven you if you had just left me, your kid sister, to cry alone."

"Ju-ju, your only 2 years younger than me," Juda said as he placed his hand over hers. "I think I might have babied you too much when we were younger. Now your a spoiled little kid."

June laughed a little as she tapped him lightly with a fist. "Go out there and show the kingdom just how strong you are big bro. Show them that it doesn't matter where your born, just who you choose to be. Teach them what you taught me."

Juda also gave a small laugh. "Just leave it to your big brother Ju-Ju, I'll make you proud to call me big brother."

June smiled and stepped forward, standing up on the tips of her toes to give Juda a kiss on the cheek. This was the extent of her bravery as she backed away, a hint of a blush on her face. Juda himself didn't seem all that surprised, merely flashing a smile as he turned around and picked up his bag.

"By Ju-Ju, I'll see you again," Juda waved his hand as he walked. The last thing that June saw before Juda closed the door was a warm smile, one that she had seen throughout her whole life
