Sophie's room was somewhat large. The walls were painted with a light blue. There was a small desk, a vanity, a small wardrobe, and a bookshelf against the walls. Nathan stood where his portal just was. Sophie was rushing around, picking up the floor a little bit and putting the journal in a drawer. She pulled a pillow and blanket off of her bed and put them on the floor.
"Thanks," Nathan said, sitting on Sophie's bed.
"Did you eat yet?" Sophie asked.
"No"
"Follow me. I'll get you something." Sophie opened her door and led nathan out to the kitchen. Sophie's mother was in there washing dishes.
"Hello Mrs. Ricana," Nathan said.
"Hello Nathan. We're glad to have you over tonight," Alina replied, drying her hands on a nearby towel.
Sophie opened a nearby cabinet. Inside was boxes of food.
"Every single on of these boxes is a different meal. My parents made them just in case of a surprise trip," Sophie said, "Which do you want?"
"Do you have potatoes and mash?" Nathan asked.
Sophie pulled out a box near the front and showed the lable to Nathan. It read, "Potatoes and mash." She walked out of the kitchen and to the fire place. She leaned down and carefully placed the box on the coals, "give it about ten minutes." Sophie sat down and watched the flames flicker. Nathan moved next to her and sat down as well. Behind them they heard soft steps.
"Sophie Ricana! What is he doing here. You know his kind are evil!"
"Great Grandmother! Leave him alone! He isn't evil and never will be!" Sophie yelled.
"Fine, but if he ever hurts you don't come crying," She said walking off.
"I'm sorry about that Nathan. My great grandma is very... superstitious I would say," Sophie said getting up. "I'm gonna grab you a fork. The food should be almost ready."
"Okay. Thanks again for letting me stay," Nathan said.
"No problem. Anything for a friend," Sophie replied walking back into the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later with a fork and a few napkins. "here you go," she handed them to Nathan.
'Thanks," He grabbed the food out of the fire and opened the container. A blast of steam wafted in his face. He took the first savory bite.
"Is it good?" Sophie asked.
"Yeah. I like it," Nathan said between mouthfuls. He finished his food and stood up, "Should I just put this in the kitchen?"
"Yeah. Just put it in the sink," Sophie said gesturing to the kitchen.
'Okay," Nathan said as he walked off into the kitchen.
'Oh, hello Nathan," Lyle said as he was watering the large plant next to the doorway.
"Hello Mr. Ricana. Thanks for letting me stay,' Nathan said placing the container in the water.
"No problem."
Nathan walked back out of the kitchen and to where Sophie was standing. "You tired?" Sophie asked.
"A little," Nathan replied walking into Sophie's room.
"Well you go to bed then. I'm gonna stay up and sit with my parents for a while," Sophie said slowly closing the door.
"I will. Goodnight," Nathan said, waving.
Sophie shut the door and walked off. Nathan waited till her steps grew soft. He walked to her bed and opened up the drawer. He pulled out Sophie's journal and sat down. He opened to the first page and started reading.
