Chapter 6 - Where did they go?

"Where did they go?" Nathan said pacing around Sophie's room as she sat on the bed, writing in her journal. Tears fell from her face onto the paper making the pages damp. Nathan stopped pacing and looked at Sophie. He frowned, " Sophie," He sat down next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders,"We'll find them. I know we will." Sophie leaned her head against his chest and closed her eyes. Her tears lightly dampened Nathan's shirt. Nathan combed his fingers through her hair. "We'll find them..."

Sophie stood in front of her wardrobe with a bag in her hand. She grabbed multiple shirts, all a shade of purple, and a couple pairs of gray pants. As she tied the bag shut she noticed Nathan standing in her doorway. She smiled and stood up. She slung the bag over her shoulder and went to leave her room. In the doorway she looked back at the room she had slept in for sixteen years. She smiled and walked into the kitchen.

Inside Nathan was filling another bag with the boxes of food. He looked up and smiled. With the bag over his shoulder, He led Sophie outside. "Are you ready for this?" He asked her.

"I think so. We need to find them. Who knows what could've happened. But I know they are alive. I can feel it," Sophie said in the blazing light of day.

"Well, shall we get moving?" Nathan said. Sophie nodded and led Nathan behind her house.

Behind the house was a green pasture and a small stable nearby. In the stable stood two horses, young and carefree. Sophie set her bag down and grabbed a saddle out of the corner. She strapped it on the first horse and attached her bag to it. Nathan did the same. She led the horses out into the pasture and climbed onto her horse. Nathan climbed onto his and look at Sophie. "Should I try?"

"Do it. The spell should work if they aren't dead, and hopefully they aren't." Nathan nodded and started to cast a spell. His magic, green in color, surrounded his body as information fed into his mind. "They're in the south, in some kind of fortress. This isn't good..."

"I know that."

"We need to get moving. We don't have much time."

"Do you have everything?"

"I think so. What about you? Did you bring the sword?"

"Yeah, my dad is gonna be so angry that I'm using it."

"As long as you use it to save his life, it won't matter. Now let's go!"
