Chapter 4 - First Step to Victory...

"Mademoiselle," the butler said as he entered my study room- "as part of your lineage as the Castano Dukedom heir- you'll need to prepare yourself for your Debutante,"

I sighed inwardly. My Debutante? If I remember correctly- I had mines when I was sixteen, according to this nation's customs. I prepared myself for two whole years to perform an elegant welcoming towards the High-society.

I didn't like to mingle in with others. I usually used to decline feverish tea-parties and banquets. Somewhat, because I found these events useless. I would rather hang out with the Dark Guilds and try to get rid of the thorns coming in my way of power.

There was another reason. For these events, you needed a partner. For me, my fiance, the Archduke- hated going into these events, and would rarely show up unless they were truly mandatory.

But right now, who cares if I had power? I am going to annul this engagement between him and me. After that- I am going to stop Lord Count Schein from gaining ultimate control over the Dukedom. I am going to attend Tea Parties and banquet halls for food and allies- who doesn't want good food?

"Mademoiselle are you listening?" the butler said as he watched me yawn. I stretched out my legs and my back. I want to take a nap. I had started this habit of taking naps when I was usually late from my work in my previous life and had to follow my busy schedule every day. But according to Noble Lady Customs, girls should not take naps after the age of ten. Tsk...

Who cares now? I don't live for anybody.

"Mr. Butler- don't worry I will settle these affairs by myself- for now- I just want to be alone in my room for a while," I say as I stand up from my chairs.

"But Mademoiselle! The letters from your teachers for your inheritance-"

"Don't worry- it's fine~ I'll take a look at them in the evening," I said as I walked away into my room and shut the door.

After that- I grabbed a parchment of paper and a quill with ink on it and started creating my draft to victory. I plopped into the soft bed and started writing:

Let's Annul the engagement!!

"Mam! Mademoiselle!" someone was shaking my body. My eyelids went up. Ah... I think I slept for too long. My previous life habits. I rubbed myself and said:

"What?" I asked the maid.

"Mademoiselle! Lord Monsieur Archduke is preparing to visit the mansion~!"

I snapped out my daze and abruptly jolted upwards as I heard that. Wait! He's going to come and visit me? I slapped myself- how could I forget?? Am I this stupid? Well- I took a glance at my finished annulment letter.

I might as well just slap this paper to his face and tell him:

"Hah... don't worry, we'll both be compensated. Oh, and I don't need your condolences to my father's funeral. We weren't close. So Bye... Hope to never see you again."

Is that enough?

He's the ArchDuke...

"Mademoiselle, we need to get you prepared! Don't worry the Butler will take care of the mansion's arrangement!"

*Yawn*

"Alright... it's not one heck of a deal... it's not the Emperor or anything..."

"Madam! Your language needs to be fixed!" the maid scolded me. I rolled my eyes. "It's the Archduke... so what?"

Tch... that damn man even comes ruins my sleep.

First, he goes pushing me into Eternal sleep (My previous life's death), now he comes to ruin my peace. He better have a reason to come here other than consoling me. I found him as annoying as I did in my previous life.

I want internal peace. He better not barge in with a war on my front doorstep after I declared my annulment. I mean... he won't right?

I know for one thing... he hates my face and my existence as his fiance. I think he'd start a celebratory feast.

"Alright... fine fine," I told the maid. "Now get me ready, I am going to finish this matter between us,"

I want peace, I'll tell him. End of story.

No Evil Queen. No revenge. No typical war. No monochromatic past. But is everything going to turn out fine? Let's hope for the best.
