Chapter 9 - Lord Count Schein (1)

"Dear, Mirabelle! You look so much like my sister, your mother-" Count. Schein said as he hands his coat to the butler and descends from the carriage. Thin, and unshaved, Schein wrapped his hands on my shoulders. "My dear, look at you all grown up! You were just a little child when I saw you!"

Disgust sprawled all over my face. This thick-skinned bastard... sure has the guts to talk. I saw the butler flinching and frowning at the same time. Behind him came the scheming Countess, who also had this smile written on her face that said: "We're fake is what we are,"

Tch. What luck... I can't leave this estate and go on a vacation if these two scheming vipers show up and start making everything worse.

In my previous life, they wanted to take over the entire Dukedom for themselves and grow power between their family. Also by wanting to manipulate me so that they could gain the favor of the Emperor and Archduke. They were starting to make illegal connections to the dark underworld if it weren't for me to finish them off and trample over them.

If I left before and started jumping around in the other part of the world, God knows what would happen to this place.

So, I forced my smile upwards and bitterly said with a forced expression: "Count Schein and Countess Schein, welcome to the Castano household. Please come inside,"

The countess smiled again and said: "Dear~ call me Aunt Mary and your Uncle, Uncle Dean. We are from the same family. No formalities needed,"

Ah... look at them fake talk. Who wants to be a family with you?! As far as I am concerned, these two could go jump off a cliff.

"... Uncle Dean and Aunt Mary, please come inside," I say as I lead them inside the Dukedom household. I could see the scheming couple's gape as they stared at the estate. Count Schein's family estate wasn't a very powerful Count family until my mother married over to the Dukedom of Castano. The Dukedom of Castano was a very wealthy family and was a very large estate too.

We led them to the sitting room as we started our feverish talk:

"Dear, it must overwhelm you with all of the work here, is it not? Speak freely to Uncle," Count Schein said.

I sneered inside my heart. Talk freely huh? How about this... I want you to kiss my ass and say goodbye to the mansion forever.

"Not at all, I have been already been adapted with the work environment," I say with a smile. Ugh... my lips hurt from forcing fake concerns and cares.

"Hmmm... I think we use this opportunity to make our families reunite don't you think so? Your cousins really want to meet you badly. I have a daughter that is closer to your age and she would love to be friends with you. I think your mother must be so happy after our family reunites as one,"

Family Reunification? Haha, screw that... I am not letting any of you or your family step a foot on my estate.

And why do you keep talking about my dead mother who I haven't seen the face of ever since I was even born? To gain my trust or something? Tch... you're fake is what you are. Son of a b*tch.

"...hmm... I'll think about it..." I say bitterly. Nope. Not happening. Never.

"Honey- don't you think you're being rash so quickly? The poor child lost her father... she needs time alone," Countess Schein says.

So you are not stupid after all are you? As if I miss my father. He's better off to a journey of heaven leaving me with nothing but pits of trash. Tch. My eyebrows twitched my calm expression was peeling off.

Mirabelle calm down! You swore to never do anything bad. Calm is the gateway to peace.

"My bad dear, for pushing around," Count Schein says, "if you need anything, feel free to ask me. I'll help you whenever you need. I am your Uncle."

I think I need salt to keep all of the bad spirits away before sleeping tonight.

But... I need a plan to get rid of these pests before they decide to stay any longer. What can I do? What can I do?

Life is not all great, is it? I can't bribe them with money to leave for a vacation themselves. What are the odds that they would walk back in here and hug my legs for more money? I need a more realistic plan.

Threaten? Nope. I am not threatening anyone anymore.

Scare them away?

Hah... why didn't I think about this? This is legit. I'll just have scare them away. But with what? A prank?

"Is there something wrong dear?" Count Schein asked.

"Nothing at all, Uncle. So why don't we all have dinner?"

"Why not? Let's go, Mary," Count Schein said as he smiled and got up. The butler twitched and frowned at me.

I smirked. Hahaha... if I can't threaten you... I'll scare the hell out of you.

I'll make sure that you'll never want to set a foot in this scary place.

The theme?

The Haunted Mansion...
