Chapter 18 - The Academy (IX): Classes Begin 2

THE ACADEMY

I was confused, well not really confused it's just that I didn't feel anything, every other member of the class had picked a weapon, even Michael had a pair of wooden long swords strapped to his back, though I have no idea why he chose that, it's so generic and so not him. Cassiel already uses a spear, Ariel used a rapier and Lilian loved her guns a little too much.

"Are you having problems picking a weapon young man?"

The moment I heard his voice I felt chills rushing down my spine, the man behind me had a reputation of being ruthless and evil. Well evil might be too much of a stretch, but dragon king Ye Chen is currently one of the most dangerous beings alive. He doesn't blink before he kills, he takes what he wants, when he wants it and how he wants it, the only people who can keep him in line are his fellow dragon kings, not to mention the man also had a voracious appetite for beautiful women. He seems like every woman's dream.

He's so handsome it would be better to call him beautiful, his heart is so black, making him the black sheep of the dragon kings, the veritable bad boy, and all of the girls loved him for that. But he was scary, really scary, every sense in my body was going haywire warning me about him, even as we stood close to each other. He was just a clone, I can't imagine how intimidated I would be if his real body was here.

"I don't know what to pick, I'm not really one for weapons. I've only ever used my claws and my joints to fight." I said to him with a sheepish tone.

"well there's nothing to be ashamed about, the body is also a formidable weapon, in fact it is our most primal and most dependable weapon. This class is an elective, but for the first semester it's compulsory for all students to pick a weapon. So let me suggest a gauntlet, it should protect your knuckles, forearms and elbows from abrasions, bruises and injuries. You can design a better one later, but for now this should work well for you. Now hurry up and join the rest of the class, the real lessons will begin soon, and I would need all of your focus. Don't worry about any other weapons, just stick with I've given you, and you'll be fine."

I blinked my eyes in surprise at how amicable the most famous blood thirsty murderer amongst the dragon kings was. Maybe we were wrong about him, he's really nice. I looked around the weapons rack in front of me and picked up a worn leather glove, and then I returned to my seat, looking at our teacher and anticipating his lessons. Then suddenly he snapped his fingers, and glowing spinning circles with wards on them appeared on the floor and roof of the classroom. The light grew brighter for a second and then everything disappeared or I should say we all did.

When I finally came too, I was lying on a patch of grass with the rest of the class, we were on a massive mound that seemed more like a hill, and it was in the middle of a glade filled with green soft grass and a variety of colorful flowers. At the edge of the glade were tall massive trees with twisted roots, branches and gnarled trunks that wove and superimposed over each other. It seemed to serve as a natural barrier around the glade, but I don't think it was made that way to keep us in, there were enough gaps in between those threes for 12 to 15 year old teenagers to find their way in. But I could feel it, I could sense it, there were really bad things buried in that forest.

"Okay! I'm sure all of you are wondering where the heck are we, well children this is a prison. A prison that's located on one of the pocket worlds of the world tree in Ethernalia Leonis, or I should say one of the pockets worlds amongst many others is a prison designed to hold demonic beasts that were set loose on our world a few years ago, from a hell dimension.

Now you don't have to worry about them...yet. They're perfectly contained and can't come into the safe zone, which is this glade you see here. I advice you to remain in the glade and now wander away from it, their demons in here powerful enough to scratch the king of the mind dragon, and he has the most powerful defense in existence. So please be careful.

Now onto why I brought you children here. I brought you here to learn to connect, to fight, and how to use your weapons under pressure. For the next one week, during our class you'll be transported here, where you would meditate for one hour, trying to sense the essence of your weapon, and then after that practice, and practice hard about how to use it. I won't be teaching you any techniques, but I'll be here after every class to offer guidance. Do you understand me."

"Yes sir!!"

"Good! Now I need you all to listen to me for a moment. Weapons are more than just tools, they're meant to be a part of you, an extension of your own body. You must master your weapon to the point where it has life! Your life! You share the same pulse, the breathe, the same blood and energy, the same emotions! You and your weapons should be the same person, the same being! So much so that your weapon kills without you even touching it, all you have to do is look at a person and want him dead! So be it swords or knives, guns and grenades! Become one with your weapon and your weapon becomes you."

Wow! That's so deep, and I knew I wasn't the only one who was caught up in the excitement of his explanation. Becoming one with my weapon, I definitely won't be becoming one with this trashy leather glove, however it can serve as a medium. My real weapon is my body, the glove or gauntlet is just a covering for it, a channel. So basically what he's trying to tell me, is that I have to become one with my body.

I closed my eyes and I searched deep inside of me, at first there was nothing, just blackness. And then there was light, like two suns glowing across space, one of the sun was made of lightening and thunder, and the other seemed to be made of white mist that seemed intangible yet solid. Those were my two elemental cores, my thunder core and my spirit core, but the darkness held more than those two cores. I could feel them both, my monsters, the horror that slept deep within me, my Wolf and my Dragon. But I was keeping far away from them, they may be a part of me, but I was scared of them, scared of the pain that was sure to come with accepting them.

I moved my gaze away from the darkness and opened all of my senses to myself, and that's when I could truly see what and who I was. Every hair on my head and skin, the blood in my organs and the lightening in my veins, from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, I could feel every inch of myself, and I felt as if I could control it. At this point lightening and spirit energy were dancing allover my body, drawing the attention of everyone else to me, but it was not over. I felt my ears grow longer, fangs poke out of my gums and claws grow out from my feet and hands. I opened my eyes and the whole world was sharper, brighter and slower. Ye Chen stood in front of me with a wooden sword in his hands as he said to me.

"Well what are you waiting for? Let's fight!"

Those words were almost like a drug to me, they sent a sharp shiver down my spine and shocked me in ways I didn't think possible. I moved, and the ground beneath my feet exploded in a shower of dusts, rubble and stones. Lightening coursed through my veins and ran over my body as I threw a punch, electric currents streaking along my fist. Ye Chen moved too fast for me to even comprehend as he used the wooden sword on his hand to smack my outstretched fist and then my stomach.

"You have power and you have speed, not to mention superior senses that many of us were not born with. But instead you're letting your animalistic nature govern your battle instincts and tactics. If you want to fight like an animal do so, but you should be aware of your battle and your skills. Ride the emotional wave, don't drown in it. Again!"

I'm not sure I listened to him, the feeling I had right now, was pretty intoxicating, and I'm sure I left my animals buried in the darkness somewhere never to resurface. He doesn't know what he's talking about. I jumped towards him again and threw a reckless punch, but that was only a feint as I used my other hand to claw at his chest, lightening gathering at the tip of my claws. But he was still prepared; the wooden sword in his hand smacked me so hard on my neck my vision went dark for a moment as I stumbled to the ground completely dazed. Then I looked up at him, just long enough for the wooden sword to smack against the side of my head, forcing me into the darkness.
