Chapter 7 - The Murder Case (VI): Attacked, Saved & Bloodline Eyes

THE WAR CITY OF PARABELLUM

RESIDENTIAL ZONE D51(GHETTO)

SEPTEMBER 13/10 N.U.E

11:48 PM

MIKE

After we got a Taxi for Mona we had to keep up appearances, so we also got into a taxi and asked for the most direct route to the police station. Not that we really wanted to go to a police station or anything, but at this point I don't think it's a bad idea. The most direct route however, took us through the darker parts of the city; the ghetto. Residential zone D11 all the way to D66 were a refugee project from back in the day when PARABELLUM was first being built on the planet Pangea. It's also supposed to be a rebel base, but of course it grew into something much more greater than expected.

The Zones curved around the middle of the city like a sickle, and as opposed to other brightly more active part of the city, the zones here were dark, dirty, and the roughest part of the city, except of course the Arenas themselves. It wad scary enough as it is walking through those neighborhood, but now we were driving through in a bright yellow taxi! Taxi's don't come here, so it stands to question how Max was able to convince the taxi driver to risk his life in doing this.

It would have been better if we had a car of our own, or maybe a hover bike. The boards have not been activated yet, so for now they're practically just useless chunks of metal. Either way I just have to keep praying until were completely past this place, the shadows around the buildings seem a lot thicker. Though I'm ignoring it, because it's just my mind playing tricks on me, I can't see, so there definitely isn't a shadow around.

"Max why did we have to take the shortcut, it would have been better if we took the longer way around?" I complained to him as I moved back a bit from the window.

"I already told you, the environment and atmosphere has to be good enough for our culprit to make an attempt at...…"

*Bang!* *Bang!* *Crasssshhhhh!* *Skreeeeee!* Bang!*

"owww!"

There was so much pain, my head ached and my ears were ringing. Both my arms and legs were twisted and bent at awkward angles, and I could feel a massive piece of metal sticking out of my stomach. But there were also glass in my lungs, and I was bleeding so much from my forehead that my bandages had already been soaked in blood. I moved a bit, almost screaming out in agony as all of my injuries were jostled, I wanted to cry, but I had no eyes and my tear ducts were also injured when I lost them. Then I felt a hand grab me.

My body stiffened for a moment, before I realized who's hand it was. Then Max proceeded to unceremoniously drag me out of the Taxi, moving us back across an uneven debris and glass covered ground. He moved really fast, and with the way he dragged me across the ground it was obvious that he was also injured, the smell of blood also gave it away.

*BOoOOoM!*

That would be the Taxi exploding into a ball of flame and metal, and because it's energy source was a very volatile compound the ensuing explosion was large enough to throw me and Max forwards, and leaving us with some serious burns. My ears seemed to ring even louder, and for some reason my eye sockets were pulsing, and with each second that passed it was getting faster and faster.

*POP!* "garhhh!" "Fuck!" *CRACK!*

"Arghhhhh! Oh God!"

The sounds of anguish coming out of mine and Max's mouth as our bodies began healing itself. Metal and glass stuck inside of us were being pushed out as the wounds closed and our burns healed. Our bones snapped back into place, and I could feel the area where the metal rod was stuck in my side rapidly heating up, as my body increased it's own temperature and melted the steel, pushing it's molten form out of my body. Unlike our parents, our nerves were not resilient enough yet to completely ignore the pains that came with healing; which was equally as if not more painful than getting injured. And that's when we heard footsteps coming closer.

"You children's should have just minded your business. I would ask what sort of relationship you had with Malik that it would drive you two idiots to come looking for his murders, to come looking for me. But I think I know why, it must be because of your sister right, that child that can not even be considered a real woman! Malik got what he deserved, he was an ungrateful and backstabbing opportunistic snake! He deserved to die. And now you're both going to die for sticking your nose where it doesn't belong."

At this point both Max and I were fully healed, but we were still bloodied enough that we could sell still being heavily injured. My eyes or at the least the area they once occupied was still irritating the heck out of me. And now it was itching, and it was getting harder to resist the urge to pull if the bandages and scratch the hell out of my hollow eye sockets.

"But why? What did Malik do to you that made you hate him so much? So much so you would actually have him murdered leaving without a complete corpse?"

Max asked as he turned to face her, his breath hitched in his throat, as whatever she was or looked like now, seemed to scare the fuck out of her. I moved my head towards her direction and to my surprise I could see a hazy outline, everything else was black, but where she stood was grey. It was not like the shadows I've been seeing sorry far, but it was still something. At this point I don't think denying that I was seeing anything would be helpful, I could see…..somewhat anyway.

"What do you think this is? A movie. Do you think you would just ask, and like some generic villain I would tell you all of my plans and secrets. Obviously not! So please your Highnesses, just die!"

I felt the wind move, and immediately I ducked, barely getting my head taken off by whatever she just used in attacking. I smelt ozone and the smell of burning as the air around us became electrified. There was a loud crack as lightening struck Veronica, there was a loud explosion that robbed me of my senses for a while, but that was enough time for Veronica to claw at my chest, shredding through skin and bone, leaving my heart exposed to the world. I was thrown backwards where I slaves my back through a brick wall, cracking my spine in the process.

I was weak, maybe Max would be able to survive for a while being level 2,but I was not even level one. I was stronger and faster than any normal level 0 and most level 1 fighters. And that's on account of my heritage, because of who's son I am. But as far as personal skills and strength goes, apart from singing, I've got nothing. I felt my spine snap in place as I shakily got to my feet, my senses warned me to moved to the side, but I kept my position as Max's bloodied body slammed into mine, and we both went through a couple more walls. I used my body to cushion his, but that didn't seem to be much help as we were both still heavily injured.

"It's hard to believe that you guys are the sons of dragon kings, and one of you even the son of a goddess. You guys are so weak it's almost hard for me to believe you're the sons of the universes most powerful force. But even if you were strong, I'm level 8, almost level 9. It would take someone closer to your parent's levels to beat me. So please do me a favor and die!"

Is it just me or is she repeating herself with the "die" words. But i felt helpless and weak, and quite frankly I blame Max for this situation we've found ourselves in. The brash idiots brought this on us, I'm going to make sure I haunt him in the afterlife. I could feel death coming closer to and closer to us, until finally.

(FIREFLIES!)

That voice was familiar, and so was the skill she just used. It was Cassiel signature move; and while it was not her most powerful, it had amazing crowd and battle control abilities. I didn't even need to see to know that millions of tiny glowing light, each hot enough to scald a person's skin should you come in contact with it. I felt her presence right in front of us, her spear pointed at Veronica.

"I don't care who you are bitch! But you're going to pay for what you've done to my brother and Max!"

Before Veronica could answer there was a loud flap of wings as someone else landed besides Cassie, her god killing spear ringing out it's holy and light filled harmony. Till today, unless it's Ariel herself, no one other than me could hear that bloody spear singing, I don't know why though. But now a lot of things made sense to me, Ariel was a Nephilim, and not just an ordinary Nephilim, she was just like Cassiel and me; a demigod.

But her abilities go beyond just being the daughter of two sun gods and a fallen angel. She was also and Oracle and a seer; capable of seeing the past, the present and possibilities of the future. Cassie could not have know we were here unless she followed us, but that's impossible, because she would not have been able to escape Max's awareness. It was Ariel who probably saw us in one of her visions, and they both rushed here.

At the very least I believe the playing field should be even, Cassiel was level 4 and Ariel was level 5 almost at level 6. We should be able to hold her off until reinforcements get here. We can actually bring her to justice.

"It's you! You stupid princess! You and your money and influence were the reason why I had to kill the man I love. Malik was going to leave me for you, because you were the dragon princess, the future queen of Spero! And what other way was there to become all powerful than to marry the future queen and become king! We had a good thing going and you ruined it you bitch! I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you all!!

All of a sudden it became a lot harder to breathe. Max and I were still healing, but we were getting weak, almost as if our spirit and souls were being drained out of our body. Whatever Veronica was, she wasn't normal, not one bit. And the ability she was displaying or about to display was so powerful that Cassie and Ariel were also being suppressed. There was a lot of power being pulled and used, way more than all of ours combined. Veronica was going to wipe us out, and probably a few blocks of the zones too, we're going to die.

All of a sudden my eye sockets began to itch even more, the itch was so bad it was almost painful. I felt as if I had hundreds of worms wiggling on my eyelids and the insides of my skull. I couldn't stop myself as I hurriedly pulled of the bandages, screaming and panicking as I did so. My frantic actions drew all of their attentions to me, as even Veronica stopped what she was doing, just to see what got me in such a panicked state.

The bandages fell to the ground, and I could see, I could feel my eyes or at least some sort of eyes. But the irritating feeling was not stopping, instead it was building up, almost as if it was reaching a climax. And then i looked at Veronica, seeing nothing but a mass of grey darkness, and a grotesque zombie like monster with yellow eyes. And immediately I met her eyes, mine burst into a shower blood and gore as brighter beam of dark blue light with specks of white and green on it, making it seem like a night sky, shot out of my skull towards her direction.

Ariel dragged Cassie out of the way as Veronica took the full blast of the beam. My eyes were bleeding, as everything went black once again. I was on the edge of loosing my consciousness, but just before I did, I saw something.
