THE WAR CITY OF PARRABELLUM
RESIDENTIAL ZONE D51(what's left of it)
SEPTEMBER 14/ 10 NEW UNIVERSE ERA
03:23
CASSIEL
The air here was choked full of power, soul power. And this was not the flames I've seen my dad use, or the souls I've been able to summon with my own brand of soul magic and skills. This was destruction in the purest sense of the word, this was how powerful my brother's soul was. The entire 51 zone, comprising of 18 blocks of high-rise apartment buildings, three factories, two schools, and a fire station, all of it turned to dust and ruin.
The irony in all these was that, the attack was meant for Veronica, and while it did hit her, it left her entire body intact and destroyed an entire district instead. Her soul was shattered and fragmented by Michael's attack, she was still alive though, and whatever was left of her soul and mind was enough for the authorities and our parents to piece together everything that happened here. The only other casualties apart from the taxi driver that brought Mike and Max here, was group of homeless children hiding out in one of the buildings. They were all crushed to death, collateral damage to my brother's untrained abilities; that stupid fool.
He's been in a coma since yesterday, awakening a bloodline trait with ocular abilities, and destroying said trait in one night took a toll on his weak body. If not for our father being around, there's a possibility that Mike would not have been able to wake up. The best mages, and doctors had ran extensive test on both Mike and Dad, and in extension me. Even though mine and my brother's powers came combined from our two mothers and father, any ability that had to do with the soul was strictly on the shoulders of our father.
And ever since he was turned or became a demi-god, his bloodline has been strengthened. And not just in him, but by extension his descendants. It's like there's some sort of invisible power cord, connecting me and Mike to our father, so that the stronger he becomes, the stronger we become, and so will our children and their children, on and on as long as my father lives. And considering his a dragon and vampire.....that's going to be a long ass time.
"you shouldn't blame your brother for this Cassiel, he had no idea about his new eyes, much less the power that lays dormant in him...in both of you."
"of course he had no idea, this power is from his blood so it's not his fault, it's Kael's fault! And the blind fool had every opportunity to be strong! He would have been able to avoid all of these if he had a strong body and a higher level. But no! He chose to just waste his life away singing stupid songs that nobody cares about, and now both his and Max's actions has taken the life of 11 innocent people, what the hell were they thinking going after that monster!"
Maybe it wasn't really smart to be yelling at my mom. She's not been around for about three months ever since Mike lost his eyes, and she's back now, and this was a chance for us to do something together, but Mike and that father of his just have to keep on ruining my life.
"Michael and Maximillian went after that Veronica woman for you. People were beginning to suspect you had a hand in the death of your opponent Malik, but both boys found clues when even well trained detectives couldn't find anything. They found a murderer and with yours and Ariel's help, brought them to justice. And you're right to be angry, they're both untrained and wild, and their reckless behavior not only cost lives, but also billions of credits worth in property damage.
But all these, even if none of them would admit it, they did for you. But this is no one's fault, just the fault of Veronica, who as it turns out is a mutated demon from Transylvania. Her abilities are quite varied, from being able to imitate the forms of beast souls and inhabit vehicles, which was how she murdered the young Man Malik. She's also able to make herself look like a different person, so much so that she can masks her aura and even proof of her existence form nature itself. She's a perfect spy that's been entrenched in our society for over 6 years. And you helped bring her down.
I understand how hard it must be for you dealing with the loss of lives, but your father was once in that position. Every time an innocent died, he also died a little inside. The Varsessa and Nisi Academy Of Martial And Magical Arts, the same school you would be attending in 2 Weeks was built in honor of the deaths of two innocent people. People your father loved with all of his heart, Nisi who was like a sister to him, and Varsessa who was the mother of someone he calls a brother.
Every time an innocent died, your father carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, he blamed himself for it. You're doing the same thing with the only difference being you're blaming others for it, and that's much worse Cassiel. If you want someone to take responsibility for this, then be prepared to also carry it, because your involvement with Malik is what started the chain of events that led us here. You're going to be queen one day, you must learn to be objective, smart and wise. And if innocent people die under your watch or command, it's up to you as a leader to make sure that their deaths were not in vain. Do you understand?"
I did understand, and it was annoying because I wanted to be unreasonable. To be honest I've lost track of the reasons why I'm so angry at my brother and father, a lot of things were not their fault, but I hated how it always seemed to affect me. I'm not going to admit I'm wrong, because I'm not! Either way what's done is done, and I had to do what my mom told me to do, take responsibility and make sure none of these people died in vain. These years Beast Master Battle league was canceled, so I'll still be stuck in the same rank till next year and hope I take the champions position and advance to the Beast lord battle leagues. Then that's when I'm going to start building my warband, I intend to dominate all of the war games in PARRABELLUM. And the best place to start building my warband has to be in V.A.N.A.M.A.M.A the school that would have the most elite and most powerful of our generation. Now I just have to convince my moms to train me.
"Mother since you're here now, can you and Mother Xaseah train me, it's been a long time since we trained and I'm hoping we can improve on my skills." Just one look in her eyes and I knew I wasn't going to get what I wanted.
"I'm so sorry baby girl, but me, your mother and your father along with the remaining dragon kings would be leaving for war. Which is why you wouldn't be a day student at the academy, but rather you would board with others in the dorms. It's not going to be so bad, Ariel, Max and your brother are also attending. Besides your mom, dad and I left you guys a cool surprise once you start school, and we'll visit, as much as the battlefield let's us. I also need you to look after Max and your brother, and make sure they don't go about solving more cases. Don't worry baby, it's not going to be as bad as you think, the teachers this year are really awesome and I'll be right beside......."
"But you won't!"
I cut her off, and with the tears rolling down my eyes I turned around and summoned my first battle beast and familiar Horken. The massive and red form of a Red Ice Fire Wyrm flew out of my chest as he clutched me in between his massive claws and flew away, far from my mom and this city of broken dreams and shattered hearts, I don't get it! What did I do wrong? Why can't I always get anything I want. It's not fair, is it too much to ask; I just want my mom.
