Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- I'm A Summoner

Anubis walking till about 100 meters from the wall and came to a stop letting down from itself. Feeling a bit sick I got down on all fours, and started completely throwing everything in my guts up. Recovering a bit I watched as a man dressed in a military uniform came up to me. Checking me out the guard instantly recognized me. "Brother," the man asked in confusion. Looking over at the monster that wasn't attacking he looked back at me to confirm I was his brother. Not believing it to be true as he knew I was not a summoner he sent a signal to the guards above to send a blood tester to see if I was truly him.

When the world went down and magical techniques came to life people started using magic to disguise themselves as others. To be extra careful syringes were kept in high stock to test people's blood. Using magic it was found to be impossible to disguise your blood as another. Letting my brother get the necessary blood with the medical staff on hand so the syringe was entered in correctly I decided to start up a conversation to alleviate my boredom with this weekly hassle.

"So what do you think of him," I couldn't resist asking him as I pointed behind me to Anubis. "I named him Anubis after I got together with him from my awakening." Looking at me to see if I showed any signs of trying to deceive him he slightly let his guard down when he saw no deception. Taking a serious look at the beast the man seemed to think for a bit before giving up on it. "So what kind of Thing is it?" Smiling in a little joy at getting to teach my older brother something, and not the other way around for once I explained roughly what he was without giving away extra unnecessary information about him that would seem suspicion on where it came from.

"Well from what I can tell it seems to be a darkness element wolf of some kind." That clicked of course with the man as he understood why I named it Anubis as nodded appreciatively at the name. "I'm glad one of us in the family have a good naming sense."

After a couple of minutes of waiting the medical staff was back this time with another person as this one just read the results of the test to us confirming that I was indeed the military personals brother. Looking him in the eyes I decided to ask him if he wanted to come along. "Nah, Eric you go and get bonded with the "little" guy, and head back home. We'll throw a party for your awakening later. Smiling in joy I got up, and left not turning back around. Of course if I had I would have noticed my brother looking a little nervous towards the black beast in a hint of fear. I hadn't bothered to realize that it most likely wasn't a wise idea to bring a beast home where my dad had been previously killed by another wolf type monster.

After around two and a half hours of absolute torture I wondered what to do with my beast. I obviously couldn't just have him appearing and disappearing whenever, now could I? Thinking about it for a second I had a thought. 'What if I lie about him being able to disappear is a skill. I could say he is actually entering my shadow so he's always with me. considering it more and more I decided to make the beast through an order step on my shadow, and once it had done so I made it vanish into air in the way a mirage will.

All along the road everyone stopped in surprise at seeing a large beast suddenly evanesce. Some even started freaking out at thinking something was going on. Noticing that I had continued walking they calmed down and continued on with there own things. Deciding to hurry I knew I had wasted enough time already, and I headed to the adventurers guild to update my status from Jobless to Summoner. Walking into the place I noticed a man at the corner trying to avoid me. I recognized him to well. It had been the same man from earlier. Ignoring him for now as I knew I couldn't start anything here I walked up to a worker at her desk. "Good day sir what may I help you with?" Smiling I started explaining a story I had come up with that was mostly truth.

"I wish to report a falsely advertised mission." I pulled out my mission board from my pocket and handed it to her. It had a mission to collect a certain herb in the woods where I had been attacked by Anubis. "When I went to complete the mission in the given location I found in the cave instead of the given herb alone as it had stated a monster that was also inside of the cave. When my life was in danger at the final moment I awakened as a summoner." The news immediately got her attention, but she had to make sure the information was correct.

Getting at what she wanted to see I looked at a memory crystal in front of me and I showed the moment I met Anubis the first time. Looking at it she confirmed it was true that the information was off, but she wondered why I didn't put anything about me being a summoner into it. Seeing her stare all I did was wave my hand and brought out Anubis. "It's quicker to just summon my monster than watch my memories replay to the necessary part.

Getting the information wrote down the woman looked at my beast smiled and went back into her office to ask for a tester. These people were there to make sure people could fight people on the grade level their assigned. Me being a newly awakened summoner was required to go through a test to see how strong my beast was and write down notable abilities that it has. Going into the back of the adventurers guild once a man came to take me to a battle field I had a mock battle with the man before me.

To start of the fight I first looked at what kind of enemy I was facing. Looking the man in the eyes I noticed his feline based eyes. This meant the man was either a speed based fighter or a tiger based fighter. Tiger based fighters all used their strength to attack their enemies, but their leaps are also powerful so you need to be careful when facing one.

Of course their leaps can end up leading to their deaths if the fighter wasn't careful enough themselves. This is also why all tiger based fighters learn a move or come up with one to counter this weakness. That's why I knew if the man before me started using this fighting style I had no hope at winning. Any technique or skill owner was a powerful existence in this world. They were the people who were always a step ahead of the others on the same level of overall strength. Knowing what I needed to do I wondered how I could get my commands to my partner without alerting the man before me.

"Host, you have showed the system that it was wrong to seal mental commands as the system has analysed that it can kill the host when in battle. Coming up with a solution to the problem. Host you can now think your commands, but only in battle situations. This way the host can minimize damage to yourself from your monsters."

Nodding in understanding and extreme joy I gave the order this time in my mind to 'Attack!' Hearing the command in it's head immediately under stood what I meant as it had a basic level of intelligence unlike the undead in the past, and it started running at the man before it. Feeling pleased with myself I watched the two fight it out. Realizing my monster couldn't do anything at all I decided to try and give advice, what little I could. 'Anubis when the man swings his next punch at you duck under and bite the mans arms. Listening to what I said the man was surprisingly bitten on the arm. Shock appeared in the man's eyes as he realized I actually had someway to get the beast to listen to certain commands. This had also shaken his belief on what he learned about summoners.

It was a known fact that those monsters before the level of adept were unable to think about the more "complex" instructions such as targeting certain areas of the body besides those that were major places already targeted by the animals instincts such as the head of a person. This was also why the man had been surprised as after fighting with the beast he knew that it was only at the apprentice level most likely. The reason he was almost completely sure about this was that although things could train on the side of their stats most did not as it was simply easier to grow in rank.

An example of this is a warrior who reaches the novice rank and adept rank yet they have the same talent. The novice rank is unbeatable within his category as he focused on raising his stats up high and as such had 50 points of strength. The strength the novice class gives is a multiplicity of two times so this means the man had managed to have a base stat of twenty-five. The average of a base stat is ten therefor for others on his rank this is why he is unbeatable. Now on the other hand the person who has reached adept rank has a multiplicity of ten times. Even if he only has a base of ten he has a hundred points of strength to use.

Now most still train to a extent their bases before advancing as your bases grow slower the stronger you are whether this be from training that base to an extent already or advancing. Getting back to the point of why this is important, a adept level monster would simply most likely be trained to a further extent already, and is as such why he can guarantee that my monster is a apprentice level monster that can take orders.

Of course, all of this I didn't know about the summoners as I was a person who was trying to just make a living, and I had as such never learned such things before. Getting my head back to the match I realized it was over and the man seemed to be more relaxed now. It appeared to him my commanding had a time limit as well as a usage limit for now. Of course he decided to send it in as a skill to the guild and it was updated on his status. He was a summoner of an apprentice level monster that has been trained to a sufficient point in its base status, and the summoner himself had a skill that allowed some sort of command over it at a lower rank. This also meant as such potentially that he could create more complex plans with his beast is it leveled up and grew smarter. Smiling a bit I went back to my home riding my wolf that had been quickly growing on me and got off once their only to hear a scream inside the house. Hearing the scream I recognized as my mother I immediately took off running forgetting about the little killer I've ran into twice as well as Anubis. Thankfully and unthankfully he followed me inside.
