Chapter 11 - Liking What You See?

Alisha followed the British man to be taken to a room that looked like a study. After he knocked and a voice from the inside ordered them to enter, she stepped inside cautiously and looked around. One side of the room had a big floor-to-ceiling window that covered almost half the width of the wall. The curtains were drawn to let the light spread into the room that did not have a lot of furniture in it.

At the wall opposite the window was a black leather couch paired with a glass coffee table in front of it.

On the end, opposite the door was a big mahogany desk with a few files placed on it. Behind the desk sat a man whose head was bobbed down and was going through the documents placed on the desk in front of him.

The next moment he turned around to only switch his attention to the laptop and his fingers danced furiously on the keyboard. For the brief moment that Alisha got the glance of his face, she gulped seeing the man in front of her. Just with the quick glimpse, she could tell that his features were strikingly sharp and he possessed a face that could put Gods to shame.

"Boss, Miss Alisha is here." The Caucasian man said to the man who was working without a care in the world.

The man lifted his head to reveal his dangerously handsome face that could make any woman go weak on her knees and Alisha was no exception. She almost forgot to breathe when he looked directly at her and then smiled, making her little heart flutter inside her chest.

"Miss Alisha, please pardon me as I will have to make you wait for a few minutes. Please have a seat till then. Apologies for the inconvenience." He pointed to the couch and Alisha obliged to it. As long as the man spared her life or didn't point a gun at her again, she wouldn't mind waiting for a few minutes.

"Richard get Miss Alisha a cup of coffee and snacks while she waits." The man ordered to the caucasian man who had escorted Alisha to his study.

"It's alright, please don't hesitate." The man gave his charming smile once again and Alisha lost all her reasoning.

Richard nodded and left the room, leaving Alisha alone to wait while the devilish beauty finished his work. Alisha who had nothing to do took another glance of the room which didn't have anything of her interest, except for the man behind the mahogany desk.

When he was too engulfed in his files, Alisha's eyes drifted to his face again. His copper-like skin was smooth and flawless. His big deep black eyes were like an abyss of dangerously pleasant charm, escaping from which was impossible. His sharp nose bridge, defined jawline, and well-kept stubble only added more points to his already too handsome to be real face.

After a while, someone knocked on the door and when the man ordered to get in, a maid came inside with a tray containing snacks and coffee for Alisha. She went to offer the coffee to the man as well, which he denied so the maid left.

Alisha focused her attention on the coffee to not to ogle at the man anymore. After she took the first sip, she was amused. 'Since when did they start serving such good coffee?' she thought to herself. She remembered coming to the hospital while her half-sister had fallen ill a while back, but she didn't remember the services here to be so good. Maybe it was specifically reserved for the rich, with that she shrugged off the thought.

A few minutes later, her gaze shifted to the man again and she could not bring herself to avert her gaze from him anymore. It was like her brain refused to function anymore and her eyes were glued to his handsome face.

"Liking what you see?" Never in her dreams had she thought that the man would notice her and point it out so bluntly. Well too bad, because here he was, looking right in her eyes, playing that charming smile card of his on her thrice in just a few minutes, that was making her little heart perform somersaults each time.

"Cough— ahem" Alisha almost choked on her coffee and immediately shifted her gaze away when she was caught red-handed like this. How embarrassing! She placed the coffee mug back and with one hand patted her chest to calm herself down. Blood rushed from her chest to the tips of her ears turning the area red from the blush. "Yeah, yeah I do. The paint on the wall is very nice."

The man's face turned into an amused expression and the corner of his lips lifted up in a small curve as he turned around to see the paint on the wall which was a sour cream color. "Then I must say you have an interesting choice." His tone was equally amused as he scanned her from top to bottom.

Alisha realized how mundane the color on the wall was, but she couldn't back out now for the sake of her image and continued with the lie. "Yes, I don't prefer very bright colors."

"I will believe it because you say so, but your preference is conflicting with your choice of clothes, isn't it?" He was trying hard to not break out in a peal of hysterical laughter. He had to admit he found the girl quite interesting.

Alisha looked down at her top to realize it was a shade of neon and at that moment she wanted nothing more than to dig a hole in the ground and bury herself.
