Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Bael pitied that he could not get a better look at the source of smell because of people inside, and now when they saw him it will be only harder. As for now Bael chose to further his study of the grimoire, with which he needed to be careful and looked if there are any other side effects. Corruption was important information and he would rather know all of it before making any more choices. So Bael had closed himself in his room and told his mother that he needs to study. She was happy that her son was so studious even on holidays.

Grimoire spoke mostly about its usefulness and magnificence but sometimes there were tidbits about different worlds. Which was a big eye-opener for Bael, the existence of worlds beyond his own from most primitive to advance far more than his. But for now, he could do nothing about it only wonder of all possibilities.

The rest of the day ended up uneventful because Bael did as he told his mother he would. The only grimoire was filled with much more interesting information than any of his school books which he read.

As Bael laid down for good rest he drifts to lands of wonder, lands of his own. Deep in the darkness beyond the world, beyond cosmos and reality. There in The Pit, he wondered once again, still blind to the truth.

Bael looked around him only to realize he is once again that dream. He once thought about possibilities of all he could do here. And yet he couldn't bring himself to decide on anything so dark remained. As he walked he looked to the ground and for the first time he truly saw its strangeness. It looked like liquid and yet it was solid under his foot.

As was Bael looking on the ground it hit him. This is a lucid dream, then all should be as he willed it. He could not decide how this dream should look like so he would make all possibilities true. Layers, layers are the answer to his problem. Bael remembered that spell in the grimoire was demonic sounding, so he thought about hell and in Cristian's depiction, hell was multilayered. And then his mind thought about tabletop game DnD and its depiction of hell and abyss.

And so Bael concentrated on an image or more likely intent he desired. Bael willed for this reality to be pulled down as if it would create crevice or pit and in its deepest part would lay this darkness in which he currently resided. And so first layer or more precisely last layer was created, a bedrock of all that is and could be.

After which he created another one right above it, as it comes to be he realizes it would create a ceiling of which he was not fond of. Bael thought of pushing the ceiling farther away, so much that it was lost to sight. How far exactly? Not even Bael knew.

Only then does he realize a problem with this situation. How will he get from one layer to the other? Door or Gate could be the solution but Bael didn't think that it needs something else. Simple stairs would be perfect. And then it hit him 'Up is down and down is up' so he made a crack in ground with stairs which goes down and down. Whoever would go down would saw themself to go up one layer. When Bael walked down the stairs he made few changes to the previously blindness of this passage. He made stairs look more worn out as if they were ancient.

And also one would need to lose sight of the entrance to finely saw the end of the passage. So it would look more mysterious and eery.

When Bael left the passage he was in another layer of this world that looked the same only smaller much smaller. Bael saw the end where the ground was ending, only then he remembered that he wasn't thinking about the width of this layer. How long it should be was a question in his mind. 'So one under this one is probably infinite from what I have seen. So why not make this one same.' When Bael decided on the width of this layer he willed for corners to spread. Bael wasn't sure if it was truly infinite or just as big as he could see and rest would come to be after he would move in some direction.

It didn't matter, for now, this was a dream so logic had no power here only his imagination. After which he decided on the form of this layer. Bael continued with the hell image but he didn't want to create a fire and brimstone one. He thought about making it a little different. Yes, fire is important but he decided to make it with a different color. 'What type of fire would look best. Mh... either blue or green. Black would look nice too but the previous layer is already dark so it is one of those two.'

Bael made two flames materialize before him so he could compare them. Green looked wicked and cool, and blue looked cold and terrifying. The theme of this whole layer would come from the color he would choose now so he carefully thought about it.

In the end, he chose a blue one. That would go nicely with dark metallic chains and spikes. Firstly he created land which looked like paradise. Big mountains with waterfalls with long lakes which slithered like a snake to the horizon. Lush forests with great trees and villages with many buildings. And in the middle of it all great citadel of steal. With many rooms built to look like a maze in which one could get lost. This citadel with its many gardens, towers, and walls looked magnificent prized jewel of any king or emperor. And in the middle of citadel flat ground on which battles could be made.

It was truly as if paradise come to life. But when all was perfect Bael raised his hand and spoke "Burn!" and burn it did. Everything was immediately on fire. Blue flames ravaged the land be it forests, villages, lakes, waterfalls even once-great citadel burned. Then he willed fo mountains to be torn apart and its pieces were thrown to air where they levitated still on fire.

After all, would burn Bael made flame to die out. The sight of the burned land smell of sulfur brought a smile to him. After which he entered the citadel After slite redesigning which included putting chance and hokes on the ceiling, spikes on walls, and demonic heads from dark metal as doors and walls were too from dark metal. There were many cages with barbed bars.

To light up the citadel, Bael made many wall torches and even fireplaces especially big ones in dining rooms. In them, he was especially careful. Bael made in them one big fireplace and singular table on which even twelve people could sit. Even some of the chains were hanging directly atop of table on which lit candles were placed, of course, all candles and torches were lit up with blue flames and would not be put out on themselves.

When he looked around he like this layer which he created but then he realizes that there is too little fire. And so he made sky burn with eery blue. And yet there still was something missing. Then it hit him 'it's empty. I need people to live here to live it up.' and so Bael tried to create a person. After which indeed before him stood one exact copy of one of his classmates. But when he looked him to the eye he saw only emptiness. Bael realizes that he was doing nothing because he had no soul. How did he know he wasn't sure, Bael just had a hunch.

After many attempts, Bael gave up because no matter what he could not make them alive for some reason. 'Why can't I make them sentient. From what I have heard in lucid dreams you should be able to make even other people. Stange but who knows.' After which he unmade them. But he still created other people only now in ripped clothing, and all looked extremely thin. They looked as if they were stripped of their souls and only husks remained. Bael put them in villages to stand in corners of burned houses, in towers, and the citadel, he put them in cages, and some even hooked on chains and hooks for more creepiness.

After all that Bael felt satisfied with his work as he was feeling being pulled away, only to wake up on his bed inside his room. Bael became creeped out because he once again dreamed of that place and once again was he lucid dreaming only now he remembered everything perfectly even feelings and become confused on his calmness in his dreams when he saw everything burn down. Even those empty husks felt as if they belong there.
