Chereads / Pity Me / Chapter 46 - CHAPTER 44

Chapter 46 - CHAPTER 44

"That's..."

"That's her. Ella, Haemin's girlfriend." Joy replied defeatedly.

Joy never expected Ella to actually come to Korea, she never even visited on Haemin's birthdays. Heck, she never visited at all. It was he who always went to her.

When Luna turned to her, Joy expected her to be distraught and upset, she was even ready to comfort and console her. But she was taken aback by the stoic, rigid and impossible to read expression she displayed.

Luna had never before been this way in front of her and that's why she wanted to jump in and save her before she could succumb to heartbreak.

"This is good for us! Haemin will be able to break things off an-"

"I have to go. Home. I promised Jihoon we would watch a movie together." She cut in stiffly and got up.

Joy tried talking to her but it was already taking Luna all she had in her to not lurch towards the blonde in front of her and snap her neck in two.

Oh gosh, this isn't good. I need to get out of here.

She rushed out of the club and into the street. Leaning against the wall she gripped her hair from the roots with shaking hands and pulled, screwing her eyes shut.

"Miss Ella Somervelle, do you deny that you were present at the scene at the time of the crime?"

"I deny it."

Luna screamed out rage.

The person, who she thought deserved to die a Sidney Sheldon planned death,

The person, she thought Satan would gladly adopt,

The girl, who Luna was fucked over for saving,

Was Haemin's girlfriend.

She punched the wall and thanks to the gloves it didnt hurt her.

This was it, the leak of the normality Luna kept on drinking from. Her life after her release from juvie was simply a fantasy and she was no fairy, no sorceress, but a mere voodoo doll, life used to spice up the story.

She wanted to run away, the intruders in her mind were getting too impossible to chase out. But there was nowhere else to run to.

So, she was forced to just go home and let the past roll her up in a cocoon of darkness.

She waved her hand and gestured for her butler (who had been shadowing her) to bring over the car.

13th August, 2018.

Melbourne Youth Justice Centre, Parkville.

'Take Five' started playing.

Luna clicked the next button on the mp3 exactly 13 times and 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' came on.

~I'm waiting in my cold cell.~

Luna looked around her cell mindlessly.

A small worn out cupboard, and a broken mirror were the only things there except for her single bed. The grey of the walls rang with the words "SOLIDARITY, ISOLATION" and it calmed Luna.

Being alone meant no danger, no heartbreak, no expectations and no highs or lows. It was just you. You couldn't hurt yourself.

She increased the volume till it reached an almost non understandable sound.

On this day it was always a challenge to drown out the screams of  guilt and pain in her mind. Some screams hers, some Jade's.

Alright, maybe one could hurt themselves.

She deliberately or maybe unconsciously remembered it all again and again, every detail down to the last touch of her fingers on the cold railing.

Someone touched her shoulder and Luna lurched forward with a jerk, instantly scooting away.

It was just Molly.

Luna took out the earphones and stared her, waiting for her to say whatever she came to say.

"Your grandma is here."

Luna rolled her eyes and got off the bed, evidently ticked off.

Without so much as a nod towards Molly,

she walked out and Molly walked beside her to the visitors lounge.

Whenever she walked past Brie's cell, Luna made a point to always stare back into Brie's eyes, dripping with hatred and murderous desire.

Luna smirked at her and looked ahead,

She deserves this. Thought Luna. I brought her to justice.

With a sigh she sat in front of her grandma.

"How are you?" Brienne asked earnestly. Luna looked nothing like her granddaughter anymore. The girl sitting infront of her was but a mere despondent fragment of her soul.

"Fine."

"Did you like the books I sent?"

Luna stared at her lap, "Didn't read them. I didn't ask for them either."

"But you like books so I sent the ones at the top of the best-sellers list." Brienne tried.

Luna didn't respond.

Brienne stayed quiet and waited for Luna to say something on her own now. She herself wasn't much of a talker, she talked this much and that was big. Luna was the big talker! She was supposed to talk, fill in the silences, joke around, and SMILE!

Where was the old Luna? Surely what had happened couldnt have killed her!

After a whole minute of silence Luna got up to leave.

"No, don't leave yet. I just got here." Brienne said.

"I'm not in the mood, Grandmother." She shoved her hands in her hoodie's pockets.

"This is the first time Im visiting in months, surely you won't let a mood swing ruin this?"

"You have picked the worst possible day! I don't want to see you today, I dont want to see anyone, I want to be alone!" The guard looked at the two cautiously and it did anger Brienne to be humiliated this way but she didnt let it surface.

"Sit down, Ill tell you about René's bussiness." She ordered, half nicely.

Luna glared at her with her big eyes and Brienne thought of how not everyone could be immune to those eyes,

"Why must you come on this day? EVERY YEAR? I have things to do! This day is important to me!" She raged.

Things to do as in try to kill yourself again? Brienne thought to herself.

"Did you hear? You're uncle Changmin got married again?" Brienne spoke calmly.

Luna scoffed and stormed back in.

Brienne gave Molly a knowing look and Molly nodded and followed Luna in.

If Molly let Luna hurt herself again, Brienne would have her family jailed for not paying their debts in time.

She got up and collected herself, staring at the door her granddaughter went through.

Luna was her last hope. She was supposed to break the curse of the Great Depression the Piérces suffered. She was the spark, the sunshine of the family.

Was.
