Haemin also saw Hyun coming Luna's way so he quickened his pace.
As soon as he reached her, Haemin held Luna's waist and pulled her to his side subtly.
Luna's eyes became as wide as saucers and she took in a breath, she looked at his hand and pursed her lips.
For the first time that day she was grateful to Min for the dress that was so thin, his hand practically met her skin and she shivered involuntarily.
Despite her mind shouting at her that his gorgeous girlfriend was right behind them, her heart definitely didnt get the memo and quickened its pace.
She looked up at him and unexpectedly, Haemin had a rigid expression and eyes that shot daggers at Hyun who was standing only a couple steps away from them, his eyes on Haemin's hand around Luna.
For Luna, the term sticky situation didnt at all do her situation any justice,
If Hyun left, Haemin would ask about her episode on Friday.
If Haemin left, Hyun would inquire about her boyfriend that didnt exist!
And for the second time that night, like a miracle, from the core of her heart, Luna thanked Min again, this time for the intrusion.
"Oh Haemin!" She exclaimed with her gaze on Haemin's hand, "I didnt know you two were so close."
"You didnt know? They're dating each other." Hyun said stiffly.
Oh so that's why Hyun distanced himself so quickly, Haemin - the guy he thought I was dating - was always with me.
For some reason Luna still hadn't been able to hate Hyun and wanted to tell him that her and Haemin werent dating, Haemin was with someone Luna couldnt possibly compete with.
Luna looked at Haemin and thought that maybe he WAS trying to imply that they were together so Hyun should back off.
"Oh so he is the boyfriend you were telling me about?" Min said, pretending to know, "What are the odds?"
Luna rolled her eyes and called her a bitch under her breath.
Haemin tensed and cautiously stared at Min, not even reacting to her talking to him.
"Well, Im sorry to break you all up but I need to introduce Luna to my friends." Min said and grabbed Luna's arm, taking her away.
Luna's arm almost reached out for Haemin, to be by his side again, but she shook her head and followed Min to a group of people her parents' age.
"Everyone this is Luna Pièrce, my neice." She announced, "Luna greet them."
Luna bowed, "Hello."
"She's a Pièrce? I believe I havent heard of her. Whose daughter is she?" A woman, with earrings the size of fists, said.
"She's Ramond and Charlize's youngest." Min said and Luna fidgeted in her place nervously.
She wouldnt tell them about THAT would she? These are her friends she would probably try to hide it.
Luna reasoned with herself in her mind.
All of them assesed her from a different perspective this time and judged wether she looked of Pièrce standards, which she didnt ofcourse, she wasnt wearing a single jewel.
"Is she here for the engagement party? Did Congressmen Kim invite her?" A man wearing a brown velvet suit asked.
Now that she looked around, a few more people had joined in on listening to the conversation over the mention of 'Pièrce'.
Luna grew more anxious, she felt like a meat steak lying infront of a pack of wolves.
"No, she lives with us now." Min said with finality, "Her parents abandoned her."
Luna snapped her gaze to Min.
Wait. What is she doing?
"What? Why?" Another woman asked, and Luna wished they would stop talking over her like she wasn't a human being but a news paper article.
"Well, you know the Pièrces, they cant't stand a stain on their perfect memoir, so they dispose of it by any means necessary, even if it is their own daughter." Min shook her head in fake dismay.
"What kind of stain?"
Luna franctically look at the people who shamelessly inquired about her and at Min,
Her palms were sweaty and her lungs seemed to have aged.
Even then she believed that Min wouldnt actually reveal that,
"She was arrested for murder five years ago, dont you remember?" Min told them matter-of-factly.
A few of them gasped and Luna's heart dropped.
The declaration punched all the air out of her and she thought she would collapse.
"Oh yeah I remember! But I thought it was ruled self-defense." The woman with the earrings said.
And man who had newly joined the conversation said, "Then it wouldn't have been five years, I mean think about it, even self-defense against a mere threat is allowed, why would a judge be especially strict towards a juvenile?"
"If it really were self-defense wouldnt her parents have supported her?"
Luna felt like she was on the wheel of death and everything the wretched elites said were the knives thrown.
"Ohh you're right! They must know the truth."
"Ofcourse! Otherwise why would the Pièrces let one of their own be imprisoned like that. And for five years!"
"But, why is she living with you now Min?"
Min dramatically placed a hand over her heart, "You know Changmin, always such an angel, he just couldn't leave her alone, even though her own parents couldnt stand her."
"Oh Min poor you. You actually have to live with her." The woman with the earrings said and put an emphasis on live while side eyeing Luna.
Luna looked at the ground, her throat hurt from wanting to cry and her whole body shook.
Even though she dug her nails into the already fresh crescent wounds, the pain still couldnt distract her.
"Its fine, I just think of it as charity work."
Luna clenched her jaw as she realized what Min was doing, paving a way out of the fire she had created and leaving Luna to burn.
A few of them smiled in applause and Min smiled back sickeningly sweetly, Luna felt like throwing up.
Min hugged Luna from the side and Luna thought of using the shoulder throw Jade had taught her, "My husband's burdens are my burdens."
Luna felt like someone was suffocating her from the inside, and her tears threatened to spill from her eyes.
"Luna, sweetie, you're shaking. Are you okay?" Min feigned worry.
The gossiping adults had engaged in separate conversations regarding the varmint that was the Pièrce lineage.
"I have to - " Luna tried to speak but her voice failed her and her head spinned.
She cleared her throat, detaching herself from Min and tried again, "I have to go back to my friends now."
Min smiled, but this one was a cunning one, "Ofcourse, you can do whatever you want now."
Luna turned away and made her way through the crowd to get out of the hall.
Each bump into the guests made her want to cease to exist, her emotions were out of control and she felt like she was about to explode, or rather her mind was.
"Luna!" She heard Haemin call her and she quickened her pace.
Just as she was about to reach the end of the hall, a woman dressed in a long white halter dress, came crashing into her.
Luna had never before worn heels, she couldnt even handle walking in them, let alone falling in them.
She spun on her heel and twisted her ankle and came crashing down on top of it.
She bit her lip from screaming out in pain, as she lay sprawled on the floor.
The woman in white had gone flying into the tall cream cake and frosting covered her.
Luna gasped as she saw the mess she had made and the person in the middle of it, the bride-to-be.
The music had already stopped and every single person in the hall was looking at them.
Oh god no, please no, I really didnt need another reason to be stared at,
What, just what did I do to deserve this?
On the inside she was already crying, and on the outside she was on the verge of having a hysterical breakdown but she didnt want to cry infront of those cruel people.
"What, are you blind?" The woman screeched and people finally got over their shock and came to help, mostly her.
"Im so sorry." Luna tried to get up pain shot through her leg because of her ankle and she fell back down.
"That's what she should be saying. You bumped into HER, botox brains!"
It was the silver haired girl.
"Luna!" Hyun shouted and ran towards her through the tight crowd, she saw her uncle, Jihoon, and Haemin also coming her way.
Luna used all her strength to keep from screaming out and stood up finally, she ran/limped out of the hall and followed the signs that led her to the restrooms.
"Luna?"
"Luna!"
Haemin ran after her and grabbed her hand but it slipped and she went inside the restroom, no longer in her reach.
He looked down at his hand and saw it wet with blood.
