Joy helped Luna walk to the kitchen where Haemin was busy cutting up vegetables, with his sleeves folded up.
Luna marvelled at his duality, he could look as cute as a button in a tux and hot in pajamas.
A bead of sweat slid down his temple as he sautéed the carrots and zucchinis in the pan.
"Haemin, which one is sexier?" Joy asked.
He didn't look up, "I told you not to come to me for these opinions, it's weird."
"Oh come on, just keep it general, pretend you're not my cousin, which one do you like better?"
"Well I am your cousin and I'm horrible at pretending."
Haemin went to check on the chicken in the oven.
"Okay fine choose the better looking one if not the sexier one."
Haemin sighed, "The first one, the second one is too desperate."
Luna felt silly for being happy over something as small as them choosing the same one.
"It's the same as Luna's!" Joy announced and got to posting the picture.
Haemin went to the refrigerator and took out frozen cookie dough and prepared it for baking.
"Why aren't you making any pizzaaa." Joy whined.
"Luna is hurt, she'll get well faster if she eats healthy. And don't worry, I'm making ice cream sandwiches for dessert" Haemin replied.
Luna shifted in her seat in embarrassment as Joy rolled her eyes.
"Luna you're in luck, when you two have kids, you won't have to worry much, Haemin will take care of them like a real mother. Look, he has already begun his training."
Luna straightened, "When we.. have kids?" Her eyes were as wide as two full moons.
Haemin face palmed, Joy had only been gone for a month and a half, he shouldn't have forgotten that whatever came out of her mouth was 60% absurdity.
"Me and Ella are still together, can your nonsense at least make sense? Luna I'm so sorry." Haemin said seriously.
Luna was surprised to see this side of Haemin, the less censored side.
"I cant believe you're still with that bitch." Joy commented while shaking her head and went back to her phone.
Luna's eyes widened and she looked at Haemin expecting a reaction but he just sighed and went back to the cookies.
Both of them seemed like two siblings who had just fought and Luna was awkwardly left between them.
So, she took the time to look at Joy once more, because that girl was so entrancing that looking once wasn't enough.
She had round double lidded eyes. A small, not too thin and not at all fat face, with small full lips.
She's perfect in Korean standards AND western standards, guys must fall before her.
Thought Luna.
And then there's me, with my blazing blue eyes I might as well have a neon sign on my forehead that says 'I'm a foreigner.'
Her lower lip pouted.
As long as I'm in Korea getting a boyfriend will be close to impossible. And that might be forever!
Luna silently conversed inside her head and couldn't help but blurt out,
"You're so pretty."
Joy looked up from the screen and gave Luna the kind of smile you give to kids, "Thank you." She said sincerely.
Haemin had been secretly watching Luna watch Joy.
"Okay before you fall prey to complexes, just know that Joy is a model, so, basically it's her job to look like that." He told her.
Luna's mouth fell open in amazement, she was an actual model, not a metaphorical one.
Joy scoffed, "Did you just undermine my looks?"
"Well you have millions of people praising you, I figured there should be someone who brings you back down on earth."
Luna chuckled lightly while happily watching their cute banter. It made her feel like she was one of them, like she belonged.
Joy helped Luna to the dining table and sat at the head chair herself.
Luna thought Haemin would sit opposite to her but he sat on her right instead.
"Ah its been a while since I last sat at this table." Joy said.
"Why, Did you go somewhere?" Luna asked.
"Yeah, home. My family lives in Sydney but I'm here for my studies, I go to the same university as you and Haemin." She explained.
"Oh you're Australian as well?" Luna asked cheerfully.
Joy nodded and said 'Yes I am Australian' in English and Luna smiled at the familiar Aussie accent.
"What major are you?"
Luna moved her face backwards as she looked at the fork, with a chicken piece and carrot stuck to it, in front of her face.
"Haemin, I can eat myself!" She exclaimed in embarrassment and tried to take the fork but Haemin moved it away.
"Don't be silly, no you can't. Now say ah." Haemin ordered.
Luna's cheeks turned red and she opened her mouth shyly.
After she was was done smirking over the scene infront of her like she knew something they didn't, Joy resumed talking.
"I'm an architect major."
Haemin took one bite himself and gave the next to Luna, he started talking casually too.
"She's in her third year but we have a common course, also, she's the president of the photography club in which almost all of my friends are, that's why we were talking about her that day at lunch."
"You mean Yohan and the guys?" Luna asked, chewing quickly so that Haemin wouldn't have to wait for her too much.
She felt embarrassed of her red hot cheeks, her heart kept translating what was happening as PDA.
Haemin nodded and gave her another bite.
Joy abruptly got up to take a call and left the room.
Haemin brought another bite to her lips, "Luna." He said.
"Hmm?"
"I know you probably don't... but I feel like I should still make it clear." He began awkwardly.
Luna swallowed, "What do you mean?"
"I just really hope you don't ever misunderstand my actions as something more.. everything I do is because I care for you as a friend."
"Ahan." She said, dumbfounded.
See?
She said to her heart,
He only thinks of me as a friend. Can you please understand that?
Before she could hear her heart's reply, her mind intervened.
Quick Luna.
It said.
Save what's left of your dignity.
"Oh Ofcourse." She chuckled, "That's kind of obvious."
