"I'll put you in your father's house then as you will do much better there" Sorting Hat said in a tone of finality.
"GRYFFINDOR!!!" the Sorting Hat shouted after grumbling one last time in Evelina's head because of her calm attitude throughout the ordeal.
The Gryffindor table erupted with claps, Dominique and Alice were very happy as well that they were not separated from Evelina.
On the Ravenclaw table and teacher's table few faces frowned, in Ravenclaw table the reason was that she was not sorted in their house so Lauren and Ethan shot each other a confused look.
Whereas on the Teacher's table other than Oliver and Headmistress McGonagall other frowned because of the time the Sorting Hat took to sort Evelina.
Neville removed the Sorting Hat from her head and Evelina slipped her Flat Bowler Hat back onto her head in a fluid motion.
Unlike other first years her robes did not change but a metal emblem with Gryffindor's symbol engraved on it was additionally pinned beside her Thunderbird emblem.
Evelina walked down the stage and ten walked towards her friends. She sat down in between Dominique and Alice who saved her seat over there.
James was seated directly opposite to her with Fred and Lorcan on either of his sides. All the nine of her friends were stunned and shocked with the way Headmistress McGonagall treated her.
Evelina gave everyone a curt nod and polite smile after she settled down properly. She noticed that they had a lot of questions which were to be answered but she decided to not entertain any of them as it was something which were supposed to be answered by the professors.
"It is really great that all of us are together in one house" James said as he looked at all them happily, he was in actual trying to break the awkward silence in between them.
Before the conversation continued any further the food appeared on the table, gaining everyone's attention from Evelina successfully.
Everyone started digging in but Evelina did not, James noticed her empty plate and looked at her face which had a troubled expression.
Evelina noticed his gaze and looked at him; he eyed her plate and then her face indicating 'why is your plate empty'.
She nodded her head saying she had not appetite; he motioned her towards the pumpkin juice asking her to try it.
She looked at the juice and reluctantly poured it in her glass, after taking a sip she felt it tasted good and nodded her head in approval while looking at James. The latter smiled and then motioned her taste the drumsticks in front of her.
Evelina was reluctant but agreed as he was insistent, she tried the drumsticks to find it with the perfect taste.
She was stunned at how similar the taste was to the drumsticks which her Granny made for her. Like this James went on suggesting the dishes and Evelina went on tasting it and approving it.
Others around them were quite speechless when they saw how this duo was lost in their own world. Oliver sighed when he looked at the way his daughter and the oldest Potter child interacted.
"Looks like they are enjoying their company well" Harry said which caught Oliver as well as Neville's attention.
"I'm relieved, Evelina is very picky when it comes to food, from childhood she only ate the food approved by her Granny" Oliver said as he looked at his daughter eating the dinner happily.
"That explains her hesitance at first" Neville said as he also looked at the kids, enjoying the food the way they once enjoyed during their Hogwarts days.
