We were talking about how trees could be a useful thing to help combat global warming.
I hope we can show good wisdom and avoid the tantalizing Science Fantasy and Genetic Modification Magic solutions.
That points to more 'established' technologies.
We could build terrariums at an industrial scale. Allowing trees to be grown in areas that are not fit for human interference.
Water contained and recycled. Automated shading to keep the internal temperatures down.
This would be beyond what we currently have done.
Keeping water in, would mean regulating the exchange of atmosphere.
If we have not been trying to do this, we certainly will encounter problems. Many attempts will cause tree loss. We might need to get that kind of thing working in orbiting artificial ecosystems.
Though, I guess that is just me suggesting that we ought to launch trees into space again.
In all the research on feasibility for terrariums at an industrial scale, maybe we could just plant some trees.
In the next chapter, we will talk about reducing carbon in the atmosphere by sequestration.
