I could not have expected it. I wrote a series on Global Warming, and news pops up like this.
A company called RePlanet has closed. The company facilitated recycling. It is closed because the main goods are the victim of new trade disputes.
I make no judgment on the countries involved.
This is an example of priorities. Solving global warming was simply less important.
Yet, those recyclables were being shipped maybe a third of the world away. On ocean ships for most of the travel. I think those ships would burn carbon fuels.
Was this recycling really helping?
I hear some drink containers get spiral sliced to create clothing fibers.
Why are consumer drinks being sold in these kinds of containers in the first place? Wax coated paper cups would integrate back into the ecology much faster.
You could even take a seedling tree and plant it in a used paper cup.
