Although Sarah pretended as if what Maja had said did not get to her she knew that it did, somehow. So she promised herself to try to be less picky with men. She really wanted to have a relationship now and she hoped for the best. She just had to overcome her fear one way or another. After all, she knew that in the end she still needed a man to call her own.
The next day at work two of Sara's co workers had fought over a man. She had stopped them from tearing each other apart when other workers refused to get involved.
When the boss called them both upstairs to sanction them he called Sarah too, because she was a witness. At least the only eye witness to the case.
He had never set his eyes on Sarah before then. When she stepped into the office as gracious as ever he was taken aback by her. It was desire at first sight. He had never felt so strongly for anyone before, so the feeling was new to him.
His heart stopped beating and then began again with a hard pace.
Humberto who was seething before because of the scene the workers had caused downstairs, started to smile when Sarah walked in with the duo.
His smile was so broad the two workers looked at him in confusion. For one Humberto never smiled. He was the true definition of the arrogant boss. So seeing him smile so brightly now shocked them as a matter of fact it would have shocked anyone even his parents.
Sarah also stared at him in confusion. Her hair flowed down her shoulders making her look even more innocent. She had tied them in a ponytail while coming to work but the ponytail had been so tight she had to loosen it after a few hours of working.
"Sit." Humberto finally said gesturing for her to take a seat. His office was everything beautiful and classy and Sarah was impressed. She had heard about its beauty from other workers but never had she thought that it would be this beautiful.
"So what happened between Elizabeth and Angela can you tell?" He asked all smiles.
Sarah cleared her throat careful not to say anything that would implicate her. "I really Don't know."
"What kind of punishment do you think they deserve. Of course they deserve to be relieved of their duties today. Don't you think?"
"Please sir." Elizabeth and Angela interjected, begging in unison. The fact that they were facing punishment together turned them into the best of friends.
Humberto ignored them and continued to speak to Sarah. To him Sarah was the only one present in the room. "But I'll like to hear from you should you be in my position now what will you do. What punishment will you melt out to them Miss__"
"Sarah. Sarah is the name Sir."
"Miss Sarah." Humberto repeated. The way he called her name was music. It was Like he was feeding of it, tasting it and adoring the sound of her name on his lips.
Sarah cleared her throat again and then looked at the pleading eyes of her co workers. She was Indeed in a tight corner but she didn't mind. She was used to being in one and she was in fact an expert in leaving one.
"If I was In your position sir I'll temper justice with mercy seeing as both of them have been good workers before now. Passion is something that takes us of the radar sometimes and although it's no excuse I'll try to understand. But I will not be lenient lest other workers will think it's ok to do just the same destroying the sanity of this bank which I'll not want."
"Relieving them of their duties will not be beneficial to me because first of all they are good workers in addition they are well trained and have been here for years so they are familiar with the system and I dare say the system is equally familiar with them. If you relieve them of this job now you will have to employ someone new who will have to start all over in familiarizing with the system and considering the project we have at hand this will not be beneficial to us. Instead I'll advice that you make them work three days overtime and then work this month without pay that way they learn their lesson and the bank gains. More power more Money. With this both parties win in the end." She concluded her speech with a broad smile even though her heart was pacing.
To her she had said the right thing but she didn't know how her boss would take. His perspective was definitely going to be different from hers and everything is about perspective.
