Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Humberto was very much impressed with all Sarah had said. He stared at her with his mouth agape. How had he just come to know her? He thought, what he felt in that moment was so surreal.

Sarah was a mix of beauty and brain which had a magnetic pull effect on Humberto.

Even her co workers were also so impressed with her suggestion. Although they hated the idea of working overtime and without pay, it was sure better than being sacked.

None of them wanted to have to explain the reason why they were sacked to their families and friends. How could they explain to them that they were relieved of their duties from the prestigious new Zealand bank all because they were fighting over a man, a fuck boy.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have attacked you I was carried away by anger." Elizabeth whispered to Angela.

"No I'm sorry. I started the fight I shouldn't have used your brush to wash the toilet. I thought he loved me but it turns out he's just a fuck boy."

"Yea he is." Elizabeth agreed, she deeply regretted her actions. Angela hugged her and she returned the hug sighing slightly.

"Let's pray that Sarah is able to convince the boss." Angela said. She was more hopefully than Elizabeth.

"You see they are sorry and they will never do it again." Sarah pleaded on their behalf.

Humberto rested his back on his chair and smiled. He was loving this moment more than any other moment he had been in this week. He could swear that this particular scene could count as the best he had experienced in a long time.

"So are you vouching for them?" He asked looking intently at them and at Sarah.

"Yes I am." Sarah replied.

Humberto laughed. A blissful laughter that sounded strange even in his own ears. "Never vouch for anyone not even for yourself. You have a good heart but I see you have a good mind also. That is very good I must confess, an excellent combination for a beauty like you." He paused and gazed deeply into Sarah's eyes. "I'll do as you have said."

Sarah smiled and looked away thinking that her work with the boss was done but she couldn't have been anymore wrong. Her work with the boss just began.

"Thank you boss. Thank you Sarah." Angela thanked.

Elizabeth started to cry. "Thanks." She said amidst tears

Sarah stood up and hugged her.

"You may all leave." Humberto said feeling uncomfortable with the sudden display of emotions. He never knew how to handle crying women and he didn't want to start now.

"Thanks Sir." Sarah said, turning to leave along with Elizabeth and Angela.

"Not you Sarah, stay back." Humberto clarified, waving at Sarah. Sarah stopped on her tracks, her heart skipped a beat.

Her mind was filled with two questions. What did the boss want with her and why did he ask her to stay back?

She swallowed trying her best to calm her nerves. Then she nodded at Elizabeth and Angela who were about leaving. They smiled back at her and left the office. Leaving her alone to deal with the boss.

She watched them walk away with fear in her heart. The fear of the unknown was driving her nuts.

She wondered what the boss needed from her as she turned to face him, but she didn't have to wonder much because he told her right about when she was walking towards him.

"I'm impressed by you very much impressed by the way you were able to handle this in a way I possibly could not have. Return tomorrow with your CV I will have to review your employment." Humberto said.

He expected Sarah to show happiness but her face remained blank he couldn't tell what was going through her mind and he hated it. His brows creased In a slight frown. Sarah stopped in her tracks and looked him straight in the eye something almost none of his workers could do.

"Thank you so much Sir. I'll do that first thing tomorrow morning." Sarah assured with a professional smile. "Have a nice day." She said as she turned to leave.

"You too." Humberto replied. He wanted to say something else but before he could speak again Sarah had closed the door after her.

He heaved a sigh of frustration and relief when she left.

Sarah was making him feel so many confusing feelings, he didn't know which of these feelings prevailed over the other and that was what frustrated him.
