Chapter 27 - 27 Good business

On its third year of operation, Roel started to branch out by first, promoting one of his cashiers, Jolina, to become the manager of the about to open branch.

Jolina, the chosen one was clever for asking Roel to be partly an owner by allowing her to invest a small share into this branch. She said it would be a big help to her family if she could be a share holder, "even if it would just be one star in the night sky, yet, it's still a sparkling star to the eyes of a nobody like me, to look up to it in the sky especially in times of darkness."

After a couple of days of considering Jolina's proposal, he accepted the share by a brief meeting with his lawyer and Jolina. He thought that he started with almost nothing, it would be a payback to the Almighty if he can return the favor to someone who also needed an open door of opportunity. Though Roel is aware that he could reject it and find another one from his staff who would accept the managerial position without any conditions, he convinced himself that he was doing it for God who continuously blessed him abundantly. After discussing the contract, official signing of the documents was done. Officially, Jolina is now a 1% share holder of the newly opened branch. It was also included in the contract that she has the option to withdraw her earnings anytime including her share or let it sleep for a period of time and be computed accordingly if she intends to withdraw it this way. This means that, her share was negligible. The business can survive without her or her share but her expertise on the business could not be downgraded that's why she was chosen to be the "boss" of the newly opened branch.

Originally, the name of Roel's courier service is simply "R's COURIER SERVICE AND MORE" with a specially designed "R" as its trademark. But when they opened the new branch, though the R was not spelled out as Roel, Jolina jokingly suggested that the R now would covertly mean RoNa, a combination of their names.

Roel just laughed at it and did not take it seriously. The R that was artistically designed to be an emblem of their business remained the same in the branch that was opened and eventually in the other branches that were opened year after year.
