Chapter 15 - Side Quests and Points

On the fifth day before the world ends… at least for the villainess and a certain mob character…

Kiel's parents went onto a mad fight as mad as one can get with his parents being mad at each other. He considered it a crisis, and a far worse crisis than not having Alice and Charles meet.

"At least before I die, I want my parents to be lovey-dovey and have a lovable relationship with each other!"

This is what Kiel declared as he thought of ways to mend his parent's relationship. He talked to both his mother and father but neither wanted to admit their mistakes. And so he thought of a brilliant idea! He gave a gift to his father and also one for his mother. He directed it in such a way that Mr. Rivers thought the gift came from his beloved wife as her way of apologizing. On the other hand, Mrs. Rivers thought the gift she received came from Mr. Rivers. Who knew that what he did was very much effective with both his parents reconciling and being more lovey-dovey than ever before.

At the same time, his parents announced to him that they were reconciling. System 25 announced in his head "Congratulations, Kiel! You are awarded 2000 points for having fulfilled your side quests. Now before you can ask me what I am talking about. Points are points, haha, get it? You can use these points to purchase items that may be useful to you and you can even do the impossible possible with points."

"What side quest? You haven't issued anything to me since you stated my mission, you know"

"Sorry, Kiel. I am not allowed to state any of your side quests unless you unlock it yourself. You see your side quest is anything related to the action of your mission and that is basically to pair up lovers in this world and ensure that their lovable relationship continues, hehe. Isn't it a sweet quest? If you do it properly, you can be this world's god of love!"

"What, the god of love? My, never have I imagined in my life that such a phrase will come out from you, 25. Anyways, what items can I purchase from the shop your talking about?"

A screen seen only by Kiel flashed in front of Kiel listing the item he can purchase with his available points.

"Woah, there is a pair of shoes that can make me faster… there is even an invisibility cape"

"Hehe, I told you… you can make the impossible possible with points"

Meanwhile, Kiel felt an inkling feeling that he heard his companion say that phrase before. System 25, unaware of his blunder, shadily advertised to Kiel the items available for purchase. Kiel continued his musing when he heard his parents talk about the gifts. When he heard them talk about it, he immediately cut off whatever he was thinking and desperately stirred the conversation of his parents away from the gifts.

The following day, Kiel wandered around the town. His destination was the Count's estate, he knew the guards will threaten him to oblivion if they see him again which was why he went there undercover.

He was sneakily contemplating how he will get through the guards when a lady-like voice called out to him

"Ahah! I knew you were familiar, you were that guy who chased after that thief for me"

Even though Lilia's condition was that she had a hard time remembering any characters who seemingly have no relation to the novel, she strangely remembered that of Kiel's. Lilia in all her glory watched at Kiel's surprise reaction.

"What is with that reaction, don't tell me, you were actually an accomplice to that kid and was just planning your next move when I caught you here! I'm telling you I'll call the gua…! Mmmf!"

Before Lilia can continue, Kiel covered her mouth and said "Shush, be quiet for a moment, okay, those guards cannot know that I am he...Ouch!"

Lilia savagely bit Kiel's hands and called the guards her way.

"Annoying, are all villainess always so annoying!"

Seeing her call out the guards her way, he immediately purchased the invisibility cape and it caused him all 200 of his points.

"Thanks for the transaction! I should tell you, that is a disposable cape so it is a one time use. After disabling it, it will vanish"

Kiel's system happily declared to him.

"What!? You mean I spent all my points buying something disposable?"

Kiel berated his system while his system bickered back,

"Well, what can you expect with only 200 points!? Your cape's value is already considered generous!"

Kiel can only sigh and dispassionately thought That means I have only one chance.

Lilia just got back from her everyday visits to the palace and saw a blue-haired boy around her height sneaking around their estate. She approached that boy and from how the boy acted like a criminal she can only conclude that she was an accomplice to that younger thief. To her surprise, the boy tried to silence her and in her panic, she bit his hand and called for help. However, she was surprised at how fast the boy escaped since when she turned her back there was no one in sight.

She told the guards that it was nothing and went back to the carriage parked not far from her, entering their estate. Unknown to her, Kiel in his invisibility cloak rode the carriage with her and got free access to her home.

Kiel was delighted as even though the lady beside him was ill-tempered she was still useful since she was able to help him get in in the estate. He couldn't remove his cape as that would mean wasting it.

Aside from him, another person was delighted that a carriage entered the Count's estate, she ran to the carriage and what greeted her was the smiling face of her dear sister.

"You're finally back! Sis, look what I made for you!"

What appeared in Alice's hand was a pink pouch and a pink ribbon.

"You have lost your pouch a while back, right? This is why I made you one. I also made one for myself. This way, we have a pair"

Alice's eyes were glittering as if telling her sister "Praise me!"

Seeing how Alice seemed to wait for a response, Lilia said "It's very nice, Alice"

"!!!"

The clothed figure wearing a cape was praising his luck as he was able to find Alice from the get-go. What he thought was strange was Alice's behavior towards Lilia. They seem to have a very close relationship from their interaction, instead of the bully and the bullied type. Maybe it was really the butterfly effect as he was not supposed to live in Kiel Rivers' body. He then just blamed all the deviations of the story to himself.

Now that he knew who Alice was, he must lure her away from the estate and let her meet Charles. The problem was how he was going to do that.

Through the evening, he observed Lilia and Alice's interaction. He had come to the conclusion that Alice treats Lilia very dearly. In their interaction, Alice made Lilia promise to carry the pouch with her at all times. Lilia seemed to not really care but agreed all the same.

As the night wore on, Kiel was still wearing the cape when he decided to worry about his problem tomorrow and slept on the couch in Lilia's room. Out of all the places, he can retire on for the night, he chose that of Lilia's.

First of all, he became aware that Lilia was his ticket to the palace as well and she may possibly disappear on him without him looking. Secondly, he felt that this version of Lilia was strange so he wanted to observe her as long as possible for the time being. And lastly, he judged that Lilia's couch was the safest without anyone suddenly crushing him if someone suddenly decides to take a seat. Lilia, on the other hand, was on her bed soundly sleeping, unaware of the mischievous Kiel sleeping in her room.
