At Place X…
Alice was already waiting for the perpetrator who gave her the letter and her sister's pouch. Unknown to her, Kiel actually put the golden necklace inside the pouch and she didn't bother to check on it. The letter stated that her sister wanted her to go to Place X at a certain time of the day. As proof, it was her sister who wanted her to go to Place X, she was given the pouch she gave to her sister just yesterday.
Not being very suspicious of the outside world and being a sheltered young lady, she did what the instruction on the letter said. Anyways, it was something concerning her sister so she can't just leave it alone.
She then saw two figures walking towards her. Place X was an abandoned facility in the country so very few people frequented it. Except for the three… no four people in there, there was no one in sight.
Even though he didn't need to as he was already invisible, Kiel was hiding behind a pillar. He witnessed Alice, Lucas, and Charles meeting each other. At that moment, a system prompt appeared in his head claiming that the thirty days time given for him to make Charles and Alice meet was successfully completed.
"Good grief, Kiel. You have prevented your termination by just a day away. I am very worried about how you will complete your main mission!"
System 25 let out a breath of relief as he talked to his host. Kiel, on the other hand, was also letting out a breath of relief. Although Alice's and Charles' encounter did not go the way he planned, his side mission still went smoothly.
Lucas saw a girl waiting for them when they got to place X. He began to cautiously walk towards the girl, trying to see if there were other people hiding. As he got closer, he called out to her.
"Hand me over the necklace"
Alice was confused at what the silver-haired boy was telling her so she asked him
"What necklace?"
"Don't bother asking her, Lucas, you think she will just hand you over the necklace just because you ask"
Charles unsheathed his sword as he playfully pointed it to Alice
"Hey, girl. I must admit that you are a beauty but don't you think it would be a pity if I accidentally slash this towards your face?"
Lucas, being a gentleman, asked Charles to put down his sword and told him to stop joking around as the girl, feeling a threat for the first time in her life, started her eyes' waterworks.
"I don't know what you two are talking about. Are you the ones who wanted to meet me here. Are you gonna kidnap me? Huhu, I want to go home."
At that moment, Lucas has noticed the pouch that the girl was holding so he snatched it from her and opened it. True to his intuition, the necklace was inside and he pulled it out.
"What is your purpose for leading this monkey to go here?"
Lucas addressed the crying Alice darkly. Charles who was described as a monkey began to give his objections. He was just joking when he pointed his sword towards the girl but then he felt Lucas getting serious. Lucas has indeed considered the girl before them to be too innocent to do such acts of stealing and leading the crown prince to a suspicious place.
"Why are you here then? And how did my necklace come to be in your hands"
"I received a letter to come here and bring the pouch with me, I don't why there's a necklace there. Maybe whoever it was just wanted me to give it back to you? "
Alice continued crying. As she cried and answered him, she thought of Lilia who she thought she received the letter from. The way they were dressed made her realize that they must be acquaintances of her sister. She couldn't bring herself to give them the name of her lovable sister just in case they were dangerous people. That was the reason she just blamed the letter to someone she didn't know.
"Hmph, whatever… I'm going back, your target is not me anyway"
Lucas added with some thought. He had decided his verdict and that was Alice not being a threat to Charles and so someone who he didn't need to guard against.
"Oh, that's it? I thought there would be some action and other stuff like that. Man, how disappointing.."
Charles said this and followed Lucas who was already on his way out. However, before being completely out of sight, he turned his head back to Alice and silently worded out
"I'll forgive you this time but the next time you do this…"
He made a cutting gesture to his neck as he waved goodbye to her. Alice's fragile legs went like jelly as she fell to the floor. She continued crying and didn't move for some time.
Kiel witnessed all of what happened. His heart felt pity for Alice who was just caught in his mission. However, as he inherently has an optimistic view in life. He thought that even though Alice and Charles started off in a bad meeting, there are plenty of chances in the future to make it a good one. As he thought of this, he too left the crying Alice alone. He then disabled his invisibility cape, which just immediately vanished as if it was never there.
