"Oi! I protected you and this is how you say thanks?!"
"You teased me first!"
"Why you..."
Ysabeau sighed once more at the two whining kids. She then promptly silenced the two by glaring at them.
"I thank you for not giving her to humans. She is still a child, so she doesn't understand much."
Raiyen gave a small shrug.
"Technically, we are both kids."
"But you are much more mature than her. Run back home, Time Child," said Ysabeau, chasing him away.
His eyes darted off somewhere, anywhere to avert the stern mother's gaze. Her wings carefully retracted and disappeared into the wind. Silence befell on the three, as Raiyen stood rooted into the ground.
"I don't have a home. I barely managed to escape my Time Stream and I ended up here for a few days now," explained Raiyen, eyes looking his toes.
Mavislin gave a faint smile. Her lit up as she ran towards the Time Mage, away from Ysabeau. She then stuck out her small hand, offering something to Raiyen. The Time Mage looked at it in confusion.
"Ah! You want him to join us?" asked Ysabeau, placing her palms together.
Mavislin nodded happily as she tried to drag the poor boy away. Raiyen was completely lost as he stood still, unwilling to move.
"Come on! Angry Man making dinner now!" urged Mavislin.
"I can guarantee you won't regret eating his dishes," added Ysabeau.
"Oi! You can't just invite me to your place just like that!"
"Why not?" asked Mavislin.
"You just said that I bullied you!"
"But you've got no home right?"
The Time Mage hesitated with his words. The reason was straightforward; she recalled what was the equivalent of losing a home. So the least she can do is shelter this unfortunate boy for a bit.
"It doesn't mean anything. You can't invite a stranger to your home. Who knows what I'll do..."
"But you never did hurt her, right? It was only fun and games," added Ysabeau, giving a warm, motherly smile.
"No..."
"Then what's the harm? Besides, the constant rumbles of your stomach have made it clear that you've not eaten for quite some time," explained Ysabeau, going on her merry way.
The Valkyrie tugged on Raiyen's clothes. She then abruptly sprinted towards the forest, dragging the boy along. Ysabeau followed swiftly behind.
"I'm a Time Mage. It doesn't matter if I've eaten or not," mumbled Raiyen, trying to catch up.
"Come on, Time Boy!"
"I'm Raiyen, thank you. And I'm not hungry."
"No matter what, you are still made out of flesh and blood, Time Boy. So quit denying and hurry up!" yelled Ysabeau, ultimately stopping at some vines.
Raiyen looked intrigued as she fiddled with the low-hanging vines.
"Are we in the wrong area, perhaps? I don't recognize anything beyond the vines," noted Raiyen, peering into the clearing that the vines were hiding.
"Home!" yelled the Valkyrie as she tried to ask the Old Chapel to open up.
"Naturally, it isn't supposed to have anything from the outside. If any human stumbles upon this area, they will have to burn it to the ground. Especially if they'd knew strong Mages were living in the place," explained Ysabeau, nevertheless trying to figure out the tricky vines.
As she gave a loud huff, she took a step back. She closed her eyes and allowed her Wind Element to soar through the air around her.
"Aperi ad portam Vetus Chapel (Open the gate of the Old Chapel.)," chanted Ysabeau as the vines parted like a curtain for the two kids to enter.
Ysabeau smiled when she looked at Raiyen's reaction. It was the same as Mavislin's. Raiyen's eyes widened in amazement as he stepped foot into the majestic clearing of the forest. The waterfall at the side of it was made to be so beautiful. The Old Chapel itself was a sight to behold.
"This our home, the Old Chapel," greeted Ysabeau as she prompted the boy to move his legs.
Raiyen did not realize Mavislin was already running towards the medieval building's front door.
"Eat then look, Time Boy!" yelled Mavislin, who ran back to the Time Mage.
Ysabeau had long given up at pushing the boy and went ahead of the kids. The Old Chapel welcomed the mother of the house warmly but was wary about who had rattled Mavislin's cage.
The Valkyrie rolled her eyes as her shouts fell on the Time Mage's deaf ears. She then dragged the dazed boy back into the house. His mind was still spinning as he snatched large mouthfuls of the food placed in front of him.
"This is some great stuff!" said Raiyen, munching on some potatoes.
"You eat like a human..." said Mavislin.
"And you eat like a Valkyrie," replied the boy.
