"Hey let's ask that guy to be a part of our project group," chimed my best friend Lisa.
We were first year engineering students with a lot of work on our shoulders in the first month itself. As people scattered around finding anyone who looked even remotely intelligent to be a part of their group so that they wouldn't have to do anything, I sat on my seat exasperated as Lisa chatted beside me all starry eyed.
"Who are you talking about?"
"That guy sitting outside, all alone with his headphones," Lisa cooed.
"Oh god, she is already in love," I smiled as I thought to myself. I had known Lisa for four months now, we met on our university's online group and had been friends since. We loved the same things.
As it was going to be even more apparent.
"Okay okay! Let's take a look at him," I called out after her but she was already out the door.
I followed her outside the classroom and found a boy with headphones, leaning against the wall.
You know what headphones are code for? They mean leaving the wearer alone and I should have done exactly that.
