Chapter 5 - Starting to Journey

'Oh God, it's really hard to pretend to be like a gentle person.' Gerold watched as Feresha leave the carriage. He used his power on her when he asked to help him to escape. If the said person looks at his eyes and they would be entering into a trance but there were some limitations. If the other party has strong willpower then his power would not have worked. Luckily, the other party was just a small girl.

'Feresha said we were going Myr. Although I have strength, I could raise suspicion with such strength in such a small body. It would have been better if I had been sent to a grown-up body…' Gerold looks at his hand while thinking.

Gerold raised his head look around the carriage. There was a fluffy seat on his left side and a compartment in his right. He opened the compartment and looked inside and saw a few silver coins. He quickly took them and put all of them inside his pockets. If he was going to survive all alone, he needed some money. Although it was bad to steal, they were slave traders so these were ill-gotten gains.

'They should be honoured, I will use this money for a holy business.' Gerold justified himself while still looking around.

After searching a bit, he sat on the fluffy seat and relaxed. He was going to wait until the sky darkened but he fell asleep while waiting.

Suddenly, someone opened the door. Gerold woke up and leapt up from his seat. He quickly pulled that person inside. He looked at the said person and saw that she was Feresha. He sighed and let her go.

"Oh God, you scared me," Gerold said while patting his chest.

"I'm sorry, it was not my intention. They all fell asleep, only I'm awake," said Feresha nervously. She couldn't believe that she was doing something like this but the boy in front of her was a wonder. She wanted to obey him, take care of him and watch him all day.

Gerold looked at her and said, "You've done well, Feresha. Now, show me the way."

Feresha looked at him then turned around to open the door. She went out and started to walk towards the back of the convoy.

Gerold looked around, everyone was asleep. He did not see before but there were many cages and all of them full of silver-haired people. He guessed that they were bed slaves from Lys. While walking with Feresha, he saw a dagger on the ground, just beside a tent. He quickly went to the tent and pulled the dagger out. He put it away and continued to follow Feresha.

Soon, they arrived at the place where horses were resting. There were nearly fifteen horses but all of them were strong, their muscles were bulging out. Feresha untied one of the horses and gave its rope to him.

Feresha looked at him and said, "This is all I can do but there is one thing I wish from you."

"Ohh, what is it?" asked Gerold curiously.

"Can I come with you?" Feresha looked at him hopefully.

"And why would you want that?" asked Gerold stiffly.

"The moment I met you, I understood that you are my destiny. We were created for each other," said Feresha shyly.

"Oh, sweet Feresha. You can't come with me but I will give you a little gift." Gerold stretched his hand and held her chin.

"Really?" Feresha looked at him while blushing.

"Now, close your eyes," said Gerold.

Feresha closed her eyes and waited for her gift.

Gerold looked at her and thought about what she could give to her. Although his father was a slave trader, she was an innocent little girl. She had a natural beauty and her father was rich. Her only short-coming was her courage. She was afraid to stand up for herself. She needed strength in the face of pain and grief.

Gerold imagined her as a brave woman, fighting for her ideas. He kissed both her cheeks. A small light shone on where he kissed her but it went unnoticed to her because her eyes were not open.

Gerold neared her left ear and whispered, "You have your gift, now sleep little one."

Feresha opened her eyes to see him but exhaustion took her eyelids down. Gerold caught her before she fell to the ground. She looked at her and put her slowly to the ground.

Gerold turned around and mounted the horse. Slowly but unwaveringly, he started his journey towards greatness.

**************************

Gerold was going towards Lys. Originally, he was planning to go Myr but he did not want to take risk of meeting Vogio in the streets. It would have created problems for him so he decided to go Lys. He was going to wait until the war is over and go to Westeros again, however, waiting too much was not his style. He needed to relieve himself from the boredom of time.

Gerold's journey went unnoticed. Two days later, he arrived at a port. The first thing he did was selling the horse. He sold it for 3 silvers, it was cheap but understandable, after all, it was not a war-horse. Then, he looked out for a ship to go to Lys. He talked with a merchant and learned he was returning from Qohor to Lys. He asked for him to take him while going Lys. Merchant hesitated a bit but agreed when he saw his pitiful eyes.

When the sea voyage started, Gerold went to the deck to look at the sea. He saw the merchant throwing up while holding railings. He went to his side and asked, "Are you okay, sir?"

The merchant raised his head and looked at the boy but just as he wanted to say something, he threw up again.

Gerold rubbed his back while imagining him without seasickness. Luckily, there was no one around when the spot he touched shone. The man straightened up and looked at the boy beside himself. His nauseation was gone.

The man was a merchant selling slaves between Lys and Lorath. He preferred to travel on land because he couldn't take the pressure of travelling by ship. All the slaves he bought came from Lys so he had to travel there every time. He was throwing up every time he travelled to Lys. It nearly became his habit.

However, today was different for him because when he was throwing up, a boy came to his side. He was the boy he took out of pity because he looked like his own son. When the boy asked whether he was okay or not, he wanted to answer but sickness came suddenly and he threw up again. But the boy rubbed his back and suddenly his sickness was gone. He dumbfounded and looked at him. The boy was still smiling while looking.

"I don't know what you did but thank you, young man." said the merchant.

"I did nothing, sir, I think god pitied you and cured your seasickness." Gerold was smiling sweetly.

After looking to see a bit, Gerold went to his cabin to rest. There was still a long way to go.

Soon, they reached the harbour of Lys. It was a magnificent city like it came out of fairy tales which Gerold heard when he was a boy. When he wanted to enter the city, the guards on the dock saw him and asked, "Boy, where are your parents? You shouldn't wander like that."

Gerold answered, "My father is a merchant and he stays in this city. My mother died one month ago, and before dying, she said I have a father in Lys. I didn't know I had a father until that time. My father's name is Vogio. Uncles, do you know my father?"

Gerold was looking at them pitifully and guards were smitten by his sweet words. They pitied his fate and wanted to help him. At first, they suspected him because his hair was brown unlike someone from Free Cities but when they heard him talk, they realized their mistake. His language was a pure Lysene dialect. He was talking like he was born in Lys.

"Okay, boy. We'll let you get in without paying but you can't mess around. You shall go directly to your father's house. Do you know where it is or should I send someone with you?" Guards were looking at him with a smile.

"No, no need, I know the way but thank you, uncles," said Gerold shyly.

Gerold made his way towards the streets of Lys.
