I jumped down from the tree, and approached the group. As soon as the black haired one saw me, he told the group to let him handle the situation.
"You cannot stay in this forest for much longer. We warned your friend earlier, but she didn't seem to understand," I said, picking a leaf out of my hair.
"Is there a particular reason?"
"Pardon?"
"Sorry, let me clarify," he scoffed, "Is there a particular reason we can't stay?"
"You are currently taking residence in my friend's home. They were gone for a few months and will be returning within the next few days. I assure you, you do not want to mess with them or their companion," I explained. The human looked unamused by the situation. He might have thought I was joking, or that this was some sort of annoying prank.
"Look. I don't care what kind of companion your friend has. I don't care if it's a bear or a cat, but I promise that any unprovoked attack won't be taken lightly."
"Strong words for a weak human," I said sardonically.
"Oh, I'm not a human, if you hadn't noticed. I'm an Animus Holder," black hair said, smirking.
The words made me go pale. Throanin would be in for quite a surprise. Animus Holders were known for being merciless fighters. Hopefully this boy was one of the weaker ones, or was just trying to scare me off. Most humans know nothing of the hidden magical world, so he may have been truthful with his words. Or, the human governments released this information to the public, which was even more unlikely.
"You should know better than to provoke an enemy during war. You've been on our territory for quite some time, and I have been ordered to inform you of our dislike of your presence our forest."
His facial expression twisted in confusion.
He replied, "I'm not sure what you're talking about."
"Whatever do you mean?"
"What war?"
"We are fighting for a world no longer controlled by humans."
His eyes flickered for a moment, and he changed from a defensive position to a more open one. He seemed more relaxed than before.
"Or maybe a world where humans know you exist without trying to capture you,"
I shifted my stance, fixed my hair, and explained, "No. We are fighting for elven control of the world."
"Why do you want control over them? Why not just fight for freedom?" He inquired.
"I'm not here to answer all of your questions. I'm just delivering a message," I said quickly. I know he didn't hear the wingbeats in the distance, but I did. I wanted to be watching from a safe distance when Throanin returned. It would be wise for the humans to take a hint and leave. I didn't care either way, because if they left, then the threat passed. If not, free entertainment. Either way, I'll have done my job.
It took about 10 minutes for Throanin to arrive. They were far from alone though, because their companion, a dark dragon, had carried them here. The dragon, named Obsidian, was a clever, calculated and powerful creature. Throanin was a skilled warrior. Their only problem was patience. They had absolutely none of it.
If I knew anything about my friend, it was that they weren't going to give a warning. Throanin was definatly going to strike fast and first. It was their favorite way to start a battle.
I knew that a fight was coming, and I was quite sure that Throanin and Obsidian were going to obliterate the group. Sure, some of them had powerful auras, but that didn't mean anything other than announcing that they had some sort of ability.
The fight would end rather quickly if Throanin focused on the task at hand.
