The Boy Who's Smile Hides it All

There is no light. It's all dark here. The words were stuck inside my mind. I stared down blankly at my phone, my headphones playing music full blast into my ears. Were my parents calling my name from downstairs? I thought. I didn't care. If they really wanted me, they'd come up and get me. Not that I wanted that, either. I didn't want them to see me in my current state, lying on the floor with tears running down my face and blood dripping from my wrists. I don't think they'd be able to handle seeing that. They see me as a straight A student with all kinds of friends. They see me as a happy teenage boy. They have absolutely no idea what battles go on inside my mind. They never will, Because I stay strong in front of them. In front of everyone.
