Wu SuYi saw the little boy running with his chubby legs toward her in haste. A smile appeared on her lips upon his adorable dash and she picked him up before he arrived. "Are you alright?"
The boy nodded his head hastily.
Wu SuYi pursed her lips, wondering if the boy was truly okay and began to check his vital area. It appeared that even though he was aware someone was following him, he didn't know what to do to defend himself against the kidnapper.
Feeling how the small boy trembling, Wu SuYi's heart melt and she couldn't help but rub her hand on his back, coaxing him to calm down, "Uhm, little boy, what is your name, you can tell auntie and I will help you find your mother as soon as possible."
The boy slowly reacted to her words by lifting his face upward. Seeing her face, however, his lips puckered, "Rui… don't have a mother."
Wu SuYi didn't realize the fact and her eyes widened at the boy who then buried his face to her chest.
"Is your name Rui?" She asked. The boy looked to her face again, seeing a sorrowful expression on her face.
"His name is Rui," a deeper voice replied from behind, startling Wu SuYi whose focus was poured to the boy. She quickly turned her eyes to see a broad chest in front of her face.
Wu SuYi quickly looked up, craning her neck to finally see the face of the man who had spoken. He was a tall fellow with a broad shoulder and a sharp jawline. Meeting his eyes, she looked into his brown, caramel-like pupils that held a hidden fierceness. Hidden as he was smiling politely toward her but his gaze felt like a knife that could go through anyone's soul.
Wu SuYi hadn't known the man for more than a minute but she could tell there was something dangerous around him.
Her eyes that were gentle to the boy quickly narrowed. Her arms covered the boy while glaring at the man, "May I know who are you and what is your business with this boy?"
The man in front of her tilted his face, his black hair that he had pushed to the back of his head slipped across his forehead, "And what is your business with my Rui?"
"My?" Wu SuYi held the boy even tighter when the man in front of her took a step forward, erasing the distance between them. Wu SuYi's eyes frowned instantly. She could tell the boy was in danger and until she knows the root, all stranger could be considered as potential harm to the boy.
Her arms went to stop the man by his shoulder and in a low threatening voice, she said, "If you take another step forward-"
"Rui, I'm here now," the man uttered at the same time for the boy to lift his face and raised his face toward him. Large water droplets filled in Rui's dewy eyes and it quickly stream down across his cheeks.
Wu SuYi frowned at this, "You are…"
"His father," The man answered and offered her a polite smile. Wu SuYi's shoulder was still tense as she didn't trust him and he chuckled seeing her reaction, "My name is Han XiGuang and this is my son, my only son. His name is Rui. Thank you very much for saving him."
"Wait," Wu SuYi continued to stare at him, "What proof do you have to say this boy is your son?"
Han XiGuang's eyebrows raised and he smiled at her words as though it was an exciting challenge for him.
"Rui," he called again but the boy refused to look at him.
Wu SuYi stepped in front, "He is not responding to you from what I seen."
"It's because I wasn't able to fulfill our promise. I'm sure you have seen a child throwing tantrum? It's not his first day to this routine," Han XiGuang said but was still faced with Wu SuYi's suspicious glare. "You asked me for a proof that I am his father but can't you see it here?"
Wu SuYi looked at his hand that was still set on the side of his waist, "What?"
"Here," Han XiGuang came closer, bring his face forward that startled Wu SuYi. She was not going to stand down against such rudeness when the man touched his face, "He is a carbon copy of mine, don't you agree?"
Wu SuYi blinked once and then looked at the boy on her arm before looking back to the man's face. It might be absurd but the man looked exactly similar!
"Uhm," a voice then appeared and Wu SuYi looked to the side, finding a policeman who looked at them awkwardly. "I'm sorry lawyer Wu, but can you come to the police station for a written statement…? And… uh sir…"
Wu SuYi didn't get why the police behaved awkwardly until she realized how Han XiGuang had pinned her to the wall. She quickly pushed him away. It was a light push but Han XiGuang moved back and touched his chest as if she had pushed him back harshly.
He even added, "Aww."
I didn't even push you that hard though?! Wu SuYi argued in her mind.
"Can I have your name sir?" The policeman questioned.
Han XiGuang smiled. Without answering, he then passed his name card to the man's hands and only then did Wu SuYi realize his hand was covered by glove as she was noticing that part of the man, the policeman gasped, "Mr. Han?! You are…"
"Me, yes that is my name," Han XiGuang completed and the policeman immediately offered him a salute which Han XiGuang laughed at.
"It's an honor to see you here, Mr. Han. But is there anyone that you are protecting as of now?" The policeman questioned with great intrigue.
"I stopped that line of work and now I prefer standing behind and giving orders," Han XiGuang's eyes trailed to Wu SuYi and he smiled, "Also I am now bound into a single contract for my life."
"A single contract?" The policeman inquired at the same time Wu SuYi questioned the man's identity. The way the policeman had showed his respect was as though Han XiGuang was someone from a high military background.
"My son," Han XiGuang then added. "I think I need to write the paper as well as Rui's father."
The policeman looked back and forward, shocked on his face which he then laughed at, "I see! So this is your son, sir and your wife! I should say your wife is very amazing! She protected her son without any fear which in many cases such as that, even us, the police would be scared of."
"Wife?!" Wu SuYi raised her voice, coughing when the man offered her a shocked face. "I am not his wife and who are you?" She directed her question to Han XiGuang.
He opened his lips to speak but the policeman eagerly answered, "He is the head of the bodyguard company! I suppose anyone in this world have heard of the Eustodia Guards including you, lawyer Wu!"
Eustodia… guards…
Wu SuYi's eyes widened. She knows that company name! It was the same company that she had seen in the past. The company that was famous for its bodyguards that offer a service with a very tight security which even the kings and queens in overseas would ask for their protection.
The name was known widely across China but Wu SuYi never expected the CEO of the company to be a young man like him.
Her eyes quickly narrowed.
"You are the head of the company?" She asked, still in doubt. It was impossible to get ahold of such an important person by accident.
"CEO, yes," Han XiGuang smiled. "Did I shock you?"
Of course. But instead of being at peace, Wu SuYi turn more apprehensive against him. "And you are here because of your son?" She asked and he nodded.
"What else do you think I came here for?"
Wu SuYi in haste turned to the policeman who was confused as he thought the two were married. Yet their conversation was like a stranger's.
"His father have come, I need a bit of rest. Therefore, I will write the statement in my office," She hurriedly excused herself. Her last wish was to be involved with people like Han XiGuang or the people from his company. She didn't want to go back to that hell!
Wu SuYi wanted to quickly leave and tried to bring the boy to his father's arm when she realized that the boy was asleep.
Han XiGuang stared at Wu SuYi who all of a sudden became flustered as if a ghost was chasing for her.
"I'm sorry to ask this," he stopped her, "After this kidnapping, I don't think my son is alright mentally. I would like for him to rest a little bit more. Can you let him rest with you? Unfortunately, I have a dad's chest and I'm sure he would want a hug that could make him feel calmer like his mom's."
Wu SuYi would have refused. She didn't want to have anything to do with people who reminded her of her past but then… the boy was harmless and indeed he was still looking pale.
With a sigh, she agreed, "Alright but only for a few more hours."
Han XiGuang's eyes widened, "Thank you."
She nodded her head once, finding somewhere while the man's smile was polite, it was also smeared with a hidden slyness that she know she should be careful of.
