Chereads / Princess of Ash and Fire / Chapter 7 - Lionheart

Chapter 7 - Lionheart

Lucinda

I burst from my house, my head pounding.

Archer is all I can think about. Is he okay? Where is he? Was he out of harms way, was he hurt?

Fear danced across my mind, my back chilled. Suddenly, a sharp pain stabbed my abdomen, causing me to cry out and lean against a house. I looked down at my abdomen, seeing the blood seeping through the bandages and my tank top. I groaned in pain and looked around,  trying to find a place where he would be. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary till my eyes caught onto the Guard Station. At first glance, it seemed normal. But if I looked closer, I could see the way the door was practically dangling off the wall.

Slowly, I drew closer to the station, every step more wobbly then the last, my shirt now soaked with blood. My vision completely blurred.

I slammed into the glass doors of the keep, pain filling me with each second.

I looked around my keep, until my eyes landed on Archer, who's knocked out on the floor, his faint breathing barely visible. I turned, my eyes locking onto something gold.

I screamed in pain as a fist punched me in the gut, launching me backwards. I rolled, feeling my blood start pooling around me. I struggled to sit up, looking around.

I cried out in pain as suddenly, I was kicked in the gut, launching me onto my back.

I grit my teeth, struggling to stand.

"You're weaker than you looked, Lucinda. Master was wrong about how easily one could kill you. " A voice called. I looked around, until my eyes locked onto a pair of gold ones, inches away from me.

"Lionheart" His voice was soft. So soft. I felt tears start to fill my eyes. I failed him.

"Arch-" My voice broke and then I locked eyes with the man with golden eyes, his boring into mine as he crackles.

"Awwww, is poor little, what does he call you again, Lionheart? " He taunted and I raised my sword.

"Shut up! " I cried, rushing forward. Before I could realize what had happened I was sprawled out on the floor, my ankle buzzing with pain, but nothing more intense the pain in my abdomen.

"You failed them! " The man crackled, his eyes glowing with rage as he kicks me again, causing me scream in pain.

"You failed ME! " Right before the darkness overcame me, I could see the golden eyes, turn a silver green.

Archer

I could hear her screams, getting louder and louder as the man taunted her. Hitting her. Rage boiled in my gut, causing me to sit up, glancing around the room. I freeze as my eyes lock on Lucinda, her body limp, blood pooling around her. And the man with silver green eyes staring down at her. That's when it hit me.

His eyes had turned gold. He did this.

I stood silently, grabbing my sword. Then I sprinted forward, piercing my blade through his back. Slowly he turned around, yanking the Hilt from my hand as he looked at me, his green eyes going gold once more. Then he looked down, the blade sticking through his chest seeming to glow. Then he grabbed the blade, and yanked it out his chest, dropping the now blood covered blade.

"Is that all you got, pathetic human" The man taunts with a sly smile. Then he puts his hand to his chest, closing his eyes. And then almost instantly, it heals.

I step back, away from the man.

"What are you? " I demanded. He grinned, a grin I'd never seen on anyone before. A grin if malice and hate. One even more scary than my fathers.

"Your worst nightmare" He whispered, before punching st me again. I barely ducked in time to get a solid punch in his chest. He barely moved.

"You humans, are the reason this world can not be fixed! " He roared and punched me in the gut. I stumbled, my eyes locking on Lucinda. Then something in me cracked. I let out a butterfly cry and sprinted forward, punching the man in the face, a loud crack sounding as he stumbled back.

"You are the reason that people like Lucinda die!!! Good people! " I cried before kicking him again, launching him back.

He chuckled, glancing at me with his glowing golden eyes.

"So you aren't human. Interesting" He murmured, standing up.

"It's a shame you have to die. " He roared before sprinting forward. I felt my ears twitch as he punched me, causing me to fly backwards, pain causing me to close my eyes. Then she crossed my mind. Her green eyes staring at me, her laugh echoing in my head. Then I could see the bloody blade in my hand, and a body falling to the floor.

I roared, feeling my bones cracks, power ripping through my veins. I looked up, seeing his eyes go wide.

"Werewolf! " He demanded. I grinned, feeling canines stab out of my gums.

"Wrong" I answered, a smile tugging at my face. Then I sprinted forward, leaping into the air and kicking him with both of my feet, launching my self off his abdomen as he stumbled, struggling to regain his balance. As he stumbled I sprinted forward, punching him in the gut and launching him back, causing g him to crash into a wall, his eyes fluttering shut.

"Good riddance" I murmured before rushing over to Lucinda. Then, I glanced at Evelyn.

"I can't carry them both" I murmured. I glanced at Lucinda, then Evelyn, about to make the hardest choice in Mt life.

"I'm sorry Evelyn" I whispered, before lifting Lucinda in my arms, and sprinting away.

Mae

I followed Julian silently. We've been walking for days straight, only stopping to sleep and eat and use the bathroom.                  By now we have left the Castle of the Dark Whisper far behind, and are entering the region of Je-khun at midnight tomorrow.

Julian let out a sigh and kneeled, his finger tips grazing the dark dirt under our feet. He sat down shortly after and turned to me, fixing his dark eyes on me.

"Mae?" He whispered, panting heavily . I narrowed my eyes.

"What?" I asked, not feeling snappy but insanely tired . He narrowed his eyes back at me, then grinned.

"I'm surprised you didn't collapse a long time ago. You're really weak for a witch, yet very Athletic. What did you do before they took you to give you so much stanima?" He demanded. I and tossed my head .

"Oh you know, running for miles on end and fighting to survive on the streets. I used to run eight miles a day. But now now, you just wanted an excuse to carry me. Admit it" I said in a breath, laying back. He grinned and raised an eyebrow .

"In your dreams" He replied and layed back down. As soon as his back touched the ground, a dark feeling started creeping in the air, a stench of death growing and building higher. I felt my eyes roll slightly, and something tickled at my nose.

But I couldn't tell anything was wrong until I heard Julian yell my name and jump over me. A wall of ice wrapped around us, encircling us into a ball. Julians green eyes were dark with concentration,  a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead. But soon the darkness became too much and whisked me away.

Tara

I walk through the village, my eyes glancing at every building. I need to find her. It's been far too long since I've seen Lucinda Peirce. And it's been far too long with her out of commission. For the world's sake, she needs to remember.

Her father has already killed many, and thousands more are under his control. God knows who all is under it, since they all have one thing in common. Their eyes return to their normal color after it has settled. And at that point it's pointless to try and save them.

I closed my eyes, sensing all sorts of magic welders in the town. It's strange, seeing as most people hide it. This town doesn't bother. That could be an issue.

"Lucinda Peirce" I murmured, looking at the town.

"I will find you, even if it's the last thing I do"
