Chapter 6 - Echoed

Lucinda

Everything is so dark. I can't feel. Can't see. All I can do is listen. Echoes of memories bouncing around my head. Archer begging me to stay with him, apologizing again and again for not helping me when I first got injured. Over what had been done. So with a mental sigh, I let the darkness seize my consciousness, and drifted back to sleep

Archer

"Lucinda... Please wake up..." Lionheart. I gripped her hand bowing my head. Each memory with her an echoe of misery in my head. Over and over again I see those long claws dig into her gut. And over and over again I hear her scream that had broken right through everything keeping me away from her. Then I hear my self, over and over again, begging her not to leave me.

I lifted my head up at a tug in my fingers to see her gripping my hand back. Her green eyes opened, once, twice, thrice, then blinked repeatedly, before slipping to me. My chest leaped.

"Lionheart" I breathed before helping her up. As soon as she's up far enough to be in my reach I grab a glass and fill it with water, handing it to her. She winced in pain, glancing down st the tank top that shows the bandages underneath, covering her wound.

"Careful Lionheart, you don't want to rip open your wound again. " I murmured. She nodded groaning in pain before looking at our entwined hands, and mine which is shaking to all hell.

"Lionheart" I breathed again, not able to stop the tembling in my hands as I run a hand through my hair, the stress of the last week filling me again.

"Next time, be more careful. Please. I can't handle another loss in my life. "

"Ill be careful next time. I promise. ." She whispered so softly it's a miracle I heard it. I didn't even realize how my thumb started tracing circles on her hand. I've only known this girl for a month, and I'm already freaking out about her dying.

"Thank you Lionheart" I breathed, pressing her hand to my forehead. She chuckled softly, causing me to smile. She has such a cute laugh.

"Why do you call me Lionheart" She asked, her eyelids fluttering. I grinned.

"Because you're fierce... Wild... Free. My favored traits of a Lion" I answered. Her eyes grew wide as she gave me a lookover.

"Buzzard" She replied with a grin. Then she stood, stretching, and shooed me from the room so she could change. As i stepped out of the room, I get a slight tingle in my neck. A feeling of fear. I looked around, before seeing in the shadows of a tree, the man with silver green eyes. Then I blinked and his eyes turned gold. I stepped back, watching as he starts stalking towards the village. I sprinted out the door, uncertainty filling me. I follow the path he took to find that he was gone. Slowly I look around, observing every detail, till my eyes land on the Guard Station doors. The door was knocked off it's hinges, hanging off the door frame at and odd angle. I run forward to the keep, stepping through the broken door.I freeze, looking around to see a couple guards dead, slashes across their chests. With them, in the corner, a bloody Evelalyn lays, blood pooling around her.

"Evelyn?" I asked. Her lip wobbled as she looked up at me.

"Archer..." She fell forward and I ran forward, catching her in my arms. Then from behind me, footsteps echoes. Louder than any id ever heard before. That feeling. That presence it weilded was otherworldly. I cursed and called for help, and when no one came after minutes of holding Evaluation in my arms, I turned, barely getting to voice my scream as a fist flew at me, punching me and nearly knocking me out. I fell over, my eyes barely open.

And right before my eyes shut, I could see a pair of golden eyes, staring down at me, a devilish smirk covering their pale face.

Mae

I waited for the certain death that awaited me. But it never came. All I could feel was the thick muscle cradling my body and the burning feeling of adrenaline filling my vains.

Then, just as I about screamed to my grave, I heard a soft thud, before I felt the man carrying me running again. Not to mention he didn't bother putting me back down. Instead he sprinted forward, holding me bridal style with inhuman speed. Within two minutes, the castle was a tiny spire almost eighty miles back. It was then that the man set me down.

"What is your name" the man asked coldly. His green eyes were bored, and they were locked on mine. Even a look into his eyes had me looking away.

"Maebell" I whispered. He raised a eyebrow, a sly smile forming on his lips as he pretended not to hear me.

"Call me Mae" I said a little louder. He nodded, his smile growing wider.

"My name is Julian" He greeted before turning away. I growled and gripped my chains focusing on the task at hand and not the tall human being that saved my life. I closed my eyes, hearing the familiar  sizzle as the Starfire melted the chains.

I didn't notice as Julian turned and stared, watching the white fire encasing the iron chains holding me, burning them off my wrists.

Julian turned his gaze to me, a curious glint in his dark eyes.

"What was that?" He asked. I smiled and starfire danced on my fingertips .

"Starfire. When Emma died she left three pieces of her magic behind. In her three daughters. I have Started fire. My dead sister, Isabelle, had hellfire, and my other missing sister, Lucinda, had all three. " I explained. He glanced at the fire burning on my palms and grinned, putting out his palms, causing Ice to dance on his palms, the silver of their color mixing the the pale light of my fire.

"Ice-weilder. I've been assigned to find the Helias Fox, the warrior and assassin of the Sun. He probably hasn't been awoken yet, probably walking around as a mortal. I'm a Fae Prince, one of three. Heir to the throne of the South Continent of Han-sheil. My parents told me to locate the fox." Julian finished and the ice blinked out of his palms . He turned away with a grim smile.

"Let's go" He announced before walking ahead.

I rolled my eyes and smiled, following the strange man whom saved me.
