Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - An Old Farmhouse

"Hm-... Mmm. "Kino's eyes gently opened up to the bright shining sky. "Mmm... Why was I asleep? "Extending his soft and slender hand to his face, Kino sat up and found himself in the center of a corn field with a strange pattern of circles that had been carved into the ground. "What-where am I? Did I leave the city and go to Grandma's farm out in the country? "

Looking down toward his legs, Kino gasped lightly as he stood up and felt a strange, soft and tender sensation on his chest. Glancing down, Kino's slender hands and soft skin all felt warm and smooth at the touch. Grasping the situation, his body felt weird as his hair extended down his neck and back.

"What-when did my hair grow out? Wait, what... Th-this isn't... What happend to my body?! " Realizing that his entire body had drastically changed, Kino could not comprehend the fact that his body was that of a woman's. "How the hell did this happen?! What-"

Kino heard an unfamiliar tone coming from his own voice as it sounded like that of a woman's. At first glance, his legs peeled from under his single short kimono that barely covered his entire body. Blushing, scared and afraid, Kino raced out from the field and turned onto a dirt road. Turning his head in either direction, Kino caught sight of a farmhouse further down as he began walking toward it.

Arriving in front of the large wooden house, Kino held his hands over his chest as his mannerisms all took an instinctive turn. Suddenly catching sight of an old farmer loading in large hay mounts into the barn, Kino stood idle until the old farmer noticed his presence.

"Huh, can I help you Miss?! "Shaking from fear and embarrassment from his situation, Kino's emotions were all over the place until he broke down and started weeping infront of the old farmer. "Oh, Honey! Honey, come out here! Hurry! And bring a blanket! "

Peering from the back door of their home, the old farmers wife dropped down to the dirt and swiftly threw an old cloth blanket over Kino.

As Kino sat in front of the fireplace after the sun had already set, the old couple had begun bickering with one another over what they should do. The old farmer then threw on an old coat as he took his old cap and took off as he kissed his wife while stating he was going out to pay his friend a vist for an extra bag of grain for Kino.

Soon after the old farmer left, his wife took a seat next to Kino as she then gently asked Kino for his name.

"Kino... Kazumi Kino. "When Kino spoke, the farmers wife was astounded by Kino's soft and velvet smooth tone even while it was in a whisper.

"Well, Miss Kino-"Kino's hands clenched the old cloth around him as his gaze remained firm and expressionless at the fact of being called a woman in an unfamiliar place and body. "My name is Myrva. The old coot that just left is my loving husband, Retuso. We've been married for twenty nine years you see. There is nothing either of us can do without the other. "

Kino remained quiet as Myrva let out a soft smile and took a seat next to give Kino. After giving Kino some space, Myrva notived how tightly Kino was holding his blanket.

"Oh... "Kino's hand suddenly grabbed onto Myrva's shirt as she simply shifted in place while at that same moment, Myrva took a seat beside Kino on the ground as Kino did not hesitate to drop his head onto her lap. "My goodness... You must have been terribly frightened. "

Myrva hid the fact that she could clearly feel Kino's body shaking from fear. Calmly and slowly stroking Kino's hair, Kino closed his weary gaze as he did not hesitate to let his guard down and rest after the long unexplainable day he had.

The next morning, Kino awoke in an unfamiliar room on the second floor, unable to tell reality from virtual reality apart. The old farmhouse felt cozy, quiet and full of peace and care. A set of clothes neatly folded on a wooden chair caught Kino's new bright, purple eyes. Changing out from the kimono, Kino stood with the new change of clothes. Twirling around and eyeing his clothes in the reflection of a misty window, Kino turned his gaze as Myrva knocked on the door before coming in with a plate of steaming breakfast at hand.

"Miss Kino! My goodness, you look absolutely breathtaking even in a commoners' clothes. Aah, glad you are awake and about. I brought you breakfast though, I hope it is to your liking. We are not exactly wealthy b-but I hope this meets your expectations! "

Kino stood with a perplexed expression as he could not bare to tell Myrva what he was going through. Unsure if telling the truth would bring him closer to going home, or plunging him even further into despair as he simply could not tell which reality he was experiencing.

Deciding to tell Myrva everything, it was only until Kino turned his body toward Myrva, that he saw how brightly she held a radiant smile simply thinking Kino was a genuine woman.

Taking a seat over a split second decision, Kino lost his chance to speak and instead, calmly began eating the food with a wooden spoon as Myrva noticed how Kino struggled and chuckled.

Myrva abruptly took hold of the wooden spoon from Kino's hand and began breaking apart the egg that she had made for Kino to eat more efficiently.

Standing back up, Kino smiled as he ate the breakfast and turned to Myrva after clapping his hands and silently giving thanks out of habit. The strange custom was foreign and strange for Myrva yet, Myrva's eyes brightened as she lowered her gaze while admiring Kino's beauty and grace.
