Pushing agaisnt the soft single person bed, Kino sat up in the middle of the night as the bright purple shine of the moon brightly filled the night sky. Sitting up on the bed, Kino slid one foot onto the floor and gently stood as he walked over to the open window.
Gazing out into the nightlife of Reviere, Kino cast an almost nonchalant gaze toward the center of the town. The large town square and a pearly white waterfountain at the center. Kino felt familiar yet, estranged all the same.
Touching upon his lips, softly twirling his fingers around his long strands of hair and sliding his hand across his cheek of velvet smooth skin. Kino was a stranger in an unfamiliar body yet, his actions and calm heart all contradicting in his heart and head. Kino felt an almsot faint nostalgic feeling being in his new body.
Though it was a faint trace, Kino stood idle while resting his eyes and feeling the sway of the nightly cool breeze.
("What should I do... Where should I go to fix this... Am I truly alone... ")
Kino was caught up in his head as his every thought held a contradiction with his action. No amount of planning could ever make Kino decide what he should do. At best, Kino could only drift along with Myrva and Retsuo's plan was for him.
Much as was the first time in his life, Kino never could fully grasp the idea of making his own decisions freely. Most of his life had been decided for him by his over obsessive family which was composed of old traditions and family responsibility.
Holding a hardened glare, Kino wept with a silence that was carried with the passing wind and waited as if someone or something would come along to make him move.
Though, lost in thought, Kino opened his purple gaze and turned a light glare at the street he happened on. Amid a narrow allyeay between two large storehouses, in the shadows, a single cry for help caught Kino's ears.
Raising his gaze softly, Kino's body moved and was halfway out the window as Kino's low gaze flickered with a giant red crimson light.
Flowing out from above the second floor of the inn, Kino jumped straight across the large storehouse and appeared right over an unsightly clearing between large storehouses filled with suspicious characters.
"Stop your crying! Hurry up and load this in with the rest -- we bought ourselves an hour for the West gate checkpoint to be left opened. We shouldn't be hanging around any longer than we have to. "As a rough, old man who looked more like that of a monster than a human man, appeared giving seven other rough men orders as they loaded up covered cages into the back of a caravan of wagons.
"Boss, there's a problem with one of the containers... It bit Torsta's fingers clean off. We're having problems containing it. "Hunched over and waiting for the man, the man in charge grunted as he forced himself through along with several other of his men.
Dropping down, Kino surprised the only man on guard as he rendered him unconsious after simply striking him violently onto the ground with a single strike. Turning from the half-dead man on the floor, Kino coldly glanced over to the wagons and walked along the sides as he slid his hand over the cloth of the walls.
Stopping at the very edge near a vacant street, Kino turned as the sound of several heavy locks slamming into the wooden bed of the wagons echoed in the night.
Before long, several small creatures and even half-human slaves stormed out without any idea as to what happened or how they were freed as Kino was nowhere in sight.
"The gaurd is down!? "Said the first of the small slaves in a low tone that Kino could undersrand. "Hurry, we must go far away from here! "
Helping each other from their cages, several animals soon came rushing out as a few slaves rushed away into the night for help.
Once the man in charge left the dark storehouse and came about outside, he shook in anger at the sight of the many empty cages infuriated him greatly. Arguing with the guard and his men, Kino slipped through to the basement cellar and calmly walked along the dark and vast wearhouse.
Once at the center, Kino raised his hand and snapped his fingers as dozens of hundreds of simotanious locks fell to the ground in unison.
In a few moments, the man in charge was abruptly swarmed by monsters as more human and half-human slaves fled amid all the chaos.
Kino sat watching from above a tall storehouse with a glistening red apple at hand. The delight of the chaos and destruction failed to compare to the memorizing allure of fresh iron in the air. Kino's nose picked up on the scent of blood from the monsters that had broken free and gone on a rampage through the city as they attacked indiscriminately.
~
Come morning, Kino awoke in his single bed while in his room and caught ear to a commotion outside.
Walking out into the hallway and downstairs where he met up with Myrva and Retsuo, Kino stood watching as an army of silver equipped soldiers stood marching along the city streets.
"Myrva, what's going on? "As Myrva turned and held Kino's soft hands in a hurry, she looked at the passing wagon of piled up bodies being taken outside. "There was some sort of attack in the Capitol sometime in the middle of the night last night. Word is, some underground deal had gone bad between two rival factions in the black market. "
"Wha-"Snapping back, Kino was swept with a heavy feeling of guilt as his stomach sunk into despair at the flashing memory of what he witnessed the night before.
"Kino! Kino, are you okay -- Retsuo! "As the eldery couple helped Kino back to his room, Myrva stayed beside him while tending to his fever.
~
Kino's gaze strayed away from Myrva as her bright brown eyes filled Kino with a heavy burden of regret.
"Kino, tell me dear. What's wrong, what's eating away at you? "Rinsing out a wet towel, Myrva held a soft smile as she changed out Kino's rag from her forhead.
"Miss Myrva... "In spite of telling the truth, Kino simply remained silent as if though wanting to tell Myrva everything yet, not saying a thing out of fear of hurting her.
"Its alright, dear. All you need to do is rest... Hmm. I'll come check on you after going to check a property in the city for all of us to live in. It'll be a place where things like this morning won't happen. Okay, get some rest. "
Standing up, Myrva gave a light gaze and left the room. Kino, still discontent with himself, tried to understand what he did and why he did it or how. Kino was now more lost and adrift than he ever could have hoped for in his foreign body as the world he now lived in was more reality in fantasy than his own eber was in his real life.
("Help... Help me... Mom... Dad... Mika... Someone! ")
Tears fell from either side of Kino's face yet, touching upon them with his hands, Kino half fainted when all he found was blood.
Sitting up, Kino wiped his flowing tears with a calm and composed glare as they did not hurt.
"What... the hell... am I? "Lifting the covers as he tried to understand his new, strange body.
