Chapter 43 - Arrival at a City

Damien arrived at the city hours later. This was no city it was a metropolis. Really it was bigger than any metropolis by several times. Boasting the number of people and size of this planet. The city was located in the center of a massive forest. There were exotic trees and animals everywhere. Some of the wildlife even looked like it had intellect surprising Damien. It would be pretty hard to eat a cow that could beg for its life every time.

Again every one here is Asian so as far as he knew the entire planet was. He would most definitely stand out. Damien looked around as he walked along a paved road and noticed all kinds of people with carts being pulled by strange beast traveling inside of the gates. The stone road going into the city was massive. Getting closer to the gates Damien noticed that the guards were fairly lax. Looking up he saw many cultivators flying on swords or on large beasts into the city. Damien summoned a cloth mask that covered all but his eyes mad walked into the line of travelers entering the city. When it was Damien's turned to pass the gates but the guards simply glanced at Damien not sensing a threat from him. In fact one of them looked at Damien with slight pity.

Damien didn't know what that was all about but he ignored it and continue on into the city. Once inside he gasped. The sheer size of the place was breath taking. Passers by scoffed and called him a bumpkin from the mountains. The people wore robes of various colors. some groups wore the same color with a dragon logo on the front of their robes.

He noticed a large number of merchants and shop owners who were completely ordinary like humans on earth. In the streets were so many people it would be easy for Damien to go unnoticed. Damien seen flyers made of strange animal skin that had a small crowd around it. He could hear the people spoke about an upcoming tournament in a half a year. He seen that the day he arrived was the last day to sign up. Damien and head to the examination hall to get registered. Now, it would probably be best for anyone who just come to the world to go look for a tavern to get info. To a library to get info on the planet. Yet Damien couldn't miss out on easy strength increases. He needed power most, after all.

The path to the registration hall was a slow one do to the sheer mass of people. Damien didn't mind as he admired the sights. Beautiful building in ancient Chinese architecture and basic looking building made of stone were also here. Damien seen quite a bit of poverty but ignored it for now while he was on an information gathering mission. He looked around curiously at the interactions between shop owners and customers.

A middle aged woman purchased a blade at a weapon with gold bars and not coins. It seemed there were gold coins and spirit stones also in this world also. 'Guess gold really is universal or multidimensional in my case.' Damien thought this and chuckled to himself. As Damienneyes were closed due to him laughing at himself He 'bumped' into a large man who had a questionable looking grin which showed he was up to no good.

"Well what do we have he-" The grin fell of this face when he was suddenly falling backward landing roughly on his back. Damien completley continued to walk like the man was invisible.

This was done on purpose, of course Damien spotted the man following him after he took a few false detours. "Sorry." Was all Damien said and cupped his hands and continued to walk. He had seen them do that on martial arts movie so he tried it hoping it was the correct gesture. The man on the ground still hadn't moved from his spot he was still shocked a mere rank 3 body cultivators had actually moved though him. The small man hadn't even noticed him. "Young master Shu, are you okay. What happened to you?"

"There is a kid in all black clothes and cloth covering his facial features, follow him and take care of him quietly! The commoner will pay for his life for not respecting his betters. We cannot openly kill inside of the city. This bumpkin has strange clothes and must have valuable treasures on him. We will take them with his life!" The man said sneering in Damien's direction. The handsome dark haired son of a minor sect master said with fury and his face turned red from embarrassment at the snickering crowd.

The three disciples quickly ran through the crowd, roughly pushing though it to follow Damien. Damien turned down a random alley and continued walking until he was far away from the street and their were no life signs nearby.

"Bad luck for you kid." One of the three men said.

Damien turned around. "Oh? Is it now and why is that?

"You offended our young master, and he wants your head."

Damien had already read their emotions, and knew that talking was useless with these men. They wanted blood

"So for something so petty you waste life? Due them simply being weaker and you having your way? Even with women, huh?"

The last question came out cold and his killing intent spilled out creating a chill that manifested on the walls of the alley way around Damien. Damien summoned his katana made of immortal glass on to his hip.

Two of the men knew something was off and began to take involuntary steps backwards. The third man still speaking hadn't noticed the change in situation smugly answered. "Especially the whores-"

Damien took a step forward and disappeared then then reappeared behind the men. Shaking the blood off of the blade Damien continued walking not even bothering to respond to falling heads of the three minor sect disciples.

"I dont believe in luck but karma that's the real b****!" Damien responded coldly.

Several hours later, he arrived at the register counter in front of a large arena. Damien walked up and greeted the indifferent looking young man behind the counter.

"Welcome to the 785th annual Sion city tournament. If your planning to battle, sign your name here. You will need to hurry to enter now, it is about to begin. Good luck young man."

The man gestured inside to double doors leading into the arena. Damien walked into the building and saw shop owners selling wares. Past the shops and a short walk down the hallway, Damien saw a large gathering in the center of a large arena. Their was a massive crowd gathered on bleacher. The obviously wealthy nobles were sitting up higher in their overly extravagant clothes and accessories he could not name.

An older man spoke once the last person entered which was Damien. The test of the group that arrived on time and scowled at Damien. But they but they were ignored. Damien watched the speaker start by releasing his pressure of his chi which forcing all the contestants kneel except Damien and a few others. Damien was the only one that appeared unaffected. The Elders in the various sects noticed this right away.

Damien couldn't help it if he wasn't weak. He left his power at 3rd rank. If need be, he would unleash his bloodline power to cover for himself having so much power but for now, he'd stay under the radar. He had to see the type of techniques from the other fighters to know what he was up against in this world. After the incident with the three men he knee this place was twisted.

They were mostly all teenagers in the tournament with some being older but only about 22 years of age. Turning his attention back to the speaker. Apparently for the tournament there was a test of strength, then a test of cultivation techniques, and finally a battle with the top 20. The top 10 will be able to enter the 'Heavenly Ascension' Sect as a outer disciple. Damien didn't know what that meant but everyone here was beyond excited.

"Now the strength portion on the training will begin! The stone block had weird formations engraved similar to the one the Emperor had used. Damien thought about ripping the Emperor limbs off to watch him bleed out. Damien took a calming breath he noticed some of the near by cultivators sweat and look around for the source while backing away from where the felt it coming from.

"The first contestant come to the stage. It was a slim man who wore fancy robes stepped up first. he could hear the women in the crowd fawn over this man.

"That's Shin Ling, the sect master's son of the Heavenly Ascension sect."

"Yes! Hes the most gifted youth in his age group their hasn't been a cultivator that advanced to the 9th body stage as fast since this father. And he's so handsome!"

He heard the women chucking and pointing at the man. If this was fast then what had Damien people done? Those bloodlines were beyond exceptional the trio had. He wondered how his would stack at his level. Win or lose he would only use his bloodline in this tournament. Once the sect Elders see this they'll want to recruit him and he'd only go with the strongest to learn from. By learn from he meant absorb his memories. If he could get to royalty that would be even better. There were easier ways but this one presented itself and was easiest.

On the stage, the tall block glowed yellow. The skinny, handsome youth walked to the examination block with a confident smirked. He breathed in deeply and to a stance and punched. There was a massive impact that was completely absorbed by the block and a black number glowed showing 51. The crowd roared and clapped many congratulated the young master. He walk off of the stage gloating.

One after another the more and more of contestants. Your minimum strength had to be 25 yet not many had gotten much higher yet most had not made it most by a point. Damien was the 512th contestant. He was the only one in all black cloth like material that cover all but his eyes. He walked to the stage and many already wrote him off feeling his cultivation. He was literally the weakest one here. Him being a 3rd rank body cultivator, many were angry that he showed up and felt he was making a mockery of such an important tournament.

The comments were all vile. Of course Damien could hear every one of them and he tried to ignore them but something inside of him would not let him take this insult.

'This insolence from mortals!'

A pride like he never knew had existed arose. The voice was otherwordly. An unseen divine aura rose off of Damiens body. The insult increased as Damien walked to thr stage. The most vocal being the sect masters son, Shin Ling.

"This trash dares to tarnish this tournament with you unworthy presence. The tournament that birth sect leaders and kings of empires yet you a simple body cultivator bumpkin dare to show your face. Even you do not want to show your own face what a coward! Were it not for the sect rules I would run you through right now like trash you are!"

Even the Elder running the event began to walk to the sect master to talk about moving on padt this stranger before a riot begin. Meanwhile, Damien continued to walk up to the stone while his power was steadily growing. His power inside of him wanted to burst out yet, Damien forcibly kept control of it. His mind stat help him keep his aura in check greatly. His calm eyes never wavered as he strode foward. Each step he took left small craters in the ground. As Damien got closer to the stone, his eyes reverted back to purple and gold with grey irises. He pulled his arm back and struck foward. A large boom followed by a massive gust of air from his power unleashing. A flash of light blinded everyone. When their eyesight returned Damien was transformed. He completed his clothes molded around his transformation his powerful wings flapped sending gust of wind and the sect masters son flew off his feet and impacted the ground roughly in a heap. All of the Elders and Sect master was on their feet.

"What is this power. His cultivation level has skyrocketed! He was suppressing his cultivation!" One of Elders said.

"His control of his power was impeccable! No power was wasted and all was focused directly on the stone. That control alone will make him a top inner disciple or core disciple. Amazing!"

"It looks to be some kind of bloodline but a full transformation and of WHAT! The sect master said. There is no beast with this kind of mysterious bloodline that's he's heard of.

Meanwhile, Damien ignored the reactions. He took a fighting stance and threw and ordinary punch at the cube and the cube absorbed the energy but could not contain it all and cracked to pieces but not before showing '999'. Damien turned to the silent crowd. All of the contestants turned their gazes away. The Elders were shocked speechless.

The only one able to speak was Damien. He looked back at the crowd before his eyes landed on Shin Jian.

"I agree, trash should not even be nearby when in the presence of true power. I take it it won the tournament? Unless their are any takers to battle?" Damien waited a few long quite minutes.

"I'd say I won this tournament, wouldn't you all agree?"

The elder raised his hand in the air and the crowd roared. They would continue the tounament for the winnings of 2nd place and so on of the tournament.

Damien's question was met with silence. As every one was still too stunned at the sudden events to proper respond.

"So about that reward?" Damien said with an creepy smile on his face that sent a cold chill down the back of the sect master.
