She looked at the phone with a little reluctance before accepting it but the moment she saw a pair of eyes talking to some man walking beside him she knew it was him. The face wasn't completely captured in the picture but it was enough for her to see. He seemed to lose some weight but why? Why he never look for her.
"Why?" Listening to her question Mrs. Saad added,
"Maybe he tried to find you but couldn't. You live by Miss. Brown and you have changed your get up too. There could,..." Before Mrs. Saad could say something Sydney got back to her part of the place and started packing.
"Mommy, where are we going?" She saw Nick and got out of her trance.
"I,...we are leaving for a few days." She said and turned to look at Nick's things too.
"I have an activity tomorrow, can we leave next week?" Nick asked and she couldn't help and turn to hide her tears.
"Nick, your friends are waiting for you," Mrs. Saad headed Nick back to the party.
"Hey?" Mrs. Saad hugged her and tried to console her.
"You can leave Nick here. First, you have to go and seek a lot of questions." This made Sydney look at her.
"He never lived without me," Sydney sobbed,
"He loves me. And, he is a big boy. I will make him understand." Mrs. Saad offered and Sydney knew she can trust her with Nick.
"Thank you so much," She whispered and got her bag ready in less than an hour.
As per Saad's latest information Noah was in Sacramento. The very same place where Miller's headquarters were. Sydney was well known, to the place and his office. So, she took the first flight she could manage and landed in Sacramento. She didn't book any hotel and took her taxi to the headquarters of Miller enterprise but the moment she tried to get in a person asked for her reason to visit.
"I am here to see Noah Miller," The words sound so foreign to her. She was ready to see some look-alike working here and not his Noah.
"Do you have any appointment?" He asked but she was becoming more impatient.
"I am family," She said not knowing what else to say,
"Miss, then you should use the executive entrance." Indeed she knew the entrance but wondered if it would let her in. Contemplating she walked to the entrance and let her face scanned. But the moment the door opened to let her in she was more than surprised. Getting in she was welcomed by the same interior with only a little changed furniture or paintings on the wall. She saw two people looking at her for getting in through executive entrance as if they were trying to recall her but said nothing.
She took the very same lift she used to take with Noah and wondered if the password was still the same while punching the code. She was anxious when it accepted her impression. Wasn't Carol or the person faking Noah were supposed to make sure who can get in? The thought that someone was lurking her in some trap did past her mind but she needs to know who was he.
Her heart skipped a beat when she entered the floor that had Noah's office, conference hall, and personal room. Two women sitting in the cabins passed her a look before sharing a stare between them.
"May I help you?" The woman in blue asked but when Sydney passed her without giving her any mind she heard the other woman ask, "How did you get in here?"
"She can't get in here," She heard someone ordering while Sydney pushed the door open to be welcomed by the very same scent she never forgets to dream about. She was disappointed looking at the empty office.
"Where is he?" Sydney asked looking at her back and finally giving attention to the women chasing after her.
"Who are you?" They questioned back,
"Where is Claudia?" Sydney asked another question,
"Miss, first you tell me who are you?" The woman in blue asked,
"If there is Noah Miller I am his wife, Sydney Miller. Now tell me where is Noah?" She was this close to losing her mind.
"As per our information, his wife Sydney Miller is dead." Sydney's stomach dropped listening to their claim. Only this could explain why Noah didn't look for her. Does it mean he was alive? She thought.
"Do I look like a dead person to you?" Sydney's voice has the desperation this time. But then she tried to get a little calm before adding,
"Look, the lift and the entrance everything allowed me in because,...he couldn't have the heart to block my access."
"He left for Mexico. Claudia is following him on the business trip. I can't tell you more," There was no way that she could wait to get a visa and other things.
"For how long he will be there?" Sydney asked lost.
"We don't know, or even if we know we can't tell. If you are his wife you should call him to figure out." The other woman replied while Sydney gets more into his office. She stopped to look at his chair to locate a frame of him with two kids. It didn't take her long to recall Gideon and Amber.
"Who are these kids?" Sydney asked moving forward to pick the frame.
"If you don't know them I guess you should leave the office right away," The woman in black said,
"They are his kids, miss, and I think you should leave the office," She remembered her both kids having blonde hair and his boy having the green eyes just like her. But for her daughter, she never got the chance to hold her longer or see her eyes. Both kids having blonde hair and the boy having the green eyes in the frame was making her shiver.
"This is not happening," Sydney whispered while her mind tried to process what could have gone wrong.
"I am afraid you can't touch that picture." The assistant in black said but Sydney didn't give her any mind as she looked deep in her boy's eyes. Of course, it was him.
But she all too remembered her kids' cries that were silenced with shotguns. Before she could let herself lost in the past she hears someone say,
"What's going on here?" A person said and Sydney turned to find their old marketing manager.
"Mr. Kent, this woman claims she is Mrs. Miller," Sydney looked at the person fearing some bigger ploy was going on and this person who was trying to look past her spectacles will deny to recognize her but all of her doubts vanished when he uttered,
"Mrs. Miller? this is you! What on the earth is going on?"
"Tell me one thing. Is Noah alive? Is he the real Noah?" Her eyes were brimmed with tears.
"You are supposed to be,...we were told you are dead." Kent was still in shock.
"I am not Kent, so, you better help me get to Noah." Sydney pleaded,
"He will be in Mexico for three days. I am afraid,...he left for his kid's play...I mean your kids. You should be there too,"
"I,..." She didn't know what to say. Everything seemed so puzzled. But there was one thing for sure. Gideon was her son. This Noah could be fake but she could collect it was her son. He looked a little like her.
"Kent? I want you to help me get to Mexico. I can't wait to see my son." Sydney requested,
"I,...I think I can arrange something,...Lily arrange a plane to Mexico and let our management know to make sure her flight doesn't get any problem," Kent ordered the girl in blue and Sydney couldn't help saying,
"Thank you, Kent."
"You have changed a lot, Mrs. Miller," Kent said while Sydney fears if his boy was living with some person faking Noah.
"I am sorry, Mrs. Miller. I was doing my job." The woman in black came forward to excuse.
"I am keeping this," Sydney waved the frame before following Lily.
"Let me carry this," Kent took her suitcase.
She boarded the plane after half an hour while Kent didn't forget to advise her to contact Mr. Miller once she lands.
The flight was long and after she settles she tried to look at the little girl in the frame more closely. If her boy was alive why can't her girl? But her mind took her to the day when she was trying to save them.
"No! Give them back to me! No! Please, No!" She kept on banging on the door even after her hands and wrists were bruised. She knew she couldn't fail them. They were too small to be on their own. But next, she found herself waking up from the same bed where she saw her babies for the last time. Some bandage was fixed around her hands while the light in the room was so dim.
A groan escaped her lips before she could move. And, it didn't take her long to notice her whereabouts and recall her babies. Getting out she made the run for the door like a madwoman but before she could get to the door she was swept off the floor and found herself caged in a stronghold.
"Leave me you fucking monster," She cried out so loud while clawing her nails in the arms of her captor and squirmed wildly in his hold.
"Hold on mama!" She didn't stop trying to get out of the hold. She knew it was the same disgusting man who killed her Noah and took her babies away.
"What you have done with them?" Tell me!" She screamed louder.
"What do you think I have done with them?" He asked having his mouth to her ear.
"Leave me," She roared while he threw her on the bed. And before she could get up, he caged her under him and held her hands above her head while adding,
"They were so small you see...and your daughter she didn't even make a noise. Just my thumb on her neck was enough. But your son,...oh god he was so loud."
"I will kill you," She screamed at the top of her lungs before lunging at him. His laugh raced her blood even more. She punched at his face with all her strength. But before she could launch another he held her fist and made her stop.
"They are alive," Her struggles came to a halt listening to this but he could see the doubts.
"You are lying," She said breathless knowing this person has no mercy in his heart.
This made him handed her a baby monitor. When she didn't receive it he switched it on and made her listen to a baby's voice.
"Your daughter," He said making Sydney's eyes widened while a tear fell on her cheek in her attempt to get that monitor.
"Aren't you very impatient mama?" She heard him say and sobbed feeling helpless.
"I want to see what mama can do to keep them alive," She didn't hear him as she kept looking at the baby monitor that was making her listen to her baby crying.
"I will do anything," She said looking at the baby monitor.
"Excuse me, mam, we are about to land." She came out of her trance and look at the baby girl in the frame. She somewhere in her heart knew these were her babies but couldn't shake away the feeling of someone playing with her feelings.
