Gilead, a world 3 times the size of Earth in the middle of the Gilead solar system. A system believed to be the wreckage of an ancient battle of beliefs. On this planet, Gilead, the biggest in that system, sunlight is eternal with 3 suns in the path of its orbit. The closest it has to a night is twilight when the furthest sun still shines. Backed by the ever glowing suns its 5 moons are typically out of sight until the twilight returns for the last quarter of the year. Truly a sight to behold as each moon takes turn appearing before disappearing one behind the other.
A planet bathed by the light you would expect to be dry and arid. But not so, as sapphire seas and oceans take up 40% of the planet. Though landlocked by Emerald forests and Citrine sand dunes in the ever-present shadow of the tallest Tanzanite mountain, Gilead!
In this place, sitting quietly on his throne wearing an elegant Sapphire blue armour which bore the engravings of a Dragon and Phoenix on each shoulder. Hittan looked across the known worlds of Gilead with blue glowing eyes, forever searching. He had struggled and fought for his status for what seemed aeons long. But with the many dead that lay beneath each step, he could not say he was without regrets. Having accomplished his goal to become a supreme being in one of the known worlds of Gilead he was now, bored. He could not see the point of it all, it seemed he lacked a higher purpose for the things he had gained.
"Is this what my life has come to? Boredom and regrets? I, Hittan, ruler of Gilead stand alone for eternity? Is this fate, my fate? My fate!? No! I still want to see her, meet and hold her again, but I don't know where or how. She simply disappeared without leaving a note or a trace. The one person that cared for me and loved me when I lost everything, was gone or possibly taken. I wasn't strong enough then, but what about now? I can at least try to seek the point where our paths meet in time or create that possibility if she's still alive. This time I should be able to protect her."
Stretching his right arm out he made a sudden grab at seemingly nothing!
"My fate will be placed squarely in my own hands! Twist and turn all you want but soon your squirming shall cease!"
BANG!!
CRASH!!
Thunder flashed across the skies and the worlds began to shake!
"Hittan! You dare twist fate to your own design! Stay your hand o…"
Cutting the mysterious voice off mid-sentence Hittan asked "Or what?! Overlord, what can you do to me!? We exist as equals!"
"Arrogant fool! You dare defy the natural order and bring chaos to these lands?! I am empowered by the Highlord, to enforce his will, now be judged!"
"Highlord? Who? …Who cares! You will know your fate for standing in my way!"
Using his left hand he made a punch at the air between himself and the source of the Overlord's voice. Suddenly blue Sapphire energy swirled from nothing and formed a dragon! It roared with might that shook the world and made a beeline to the Overlord's chest after his position was exposed from the dragon's roar. Which revealed a seven-foot-tall spectre cladded in beautifully carved Alexandrite armour. The Overlord would not be a fool, to think he could take the hit head-on, so he quickly raised his protective shields moments before taking evasive steps. Even so, the dragon took only moments to break the barrier and grazed the overlord's left forearm leaving a bloody gash! Using the force of the attack the Overlord spun on his right leg axis before vanishing into thin air once more. A fraction of a second later it seemed the Overlord teleported behind Hittan with his right arm already descending towards the crown of his head!
Hittan's right arm still clutching fate trying to re-write his future, present and past, was now at a disadvantage in a fight against an equally matched foe. It was too late for him to release fate as the consequences of doing so were uncertain even to him. So his left hand, in the process of recoil after the punch shifted above his head to block.
BANG!
Managing only to soften the blow he was forced to a single knee, but not before he delivered a back kick into the stomach of the Overlord. The Overlord was now forced a few meters back as he vomited blood in the process, but a faint frown could be seen under the glowing white light.
"Hittan!! Stop it now?! The folly of your ways may cause harm beyond your control! You dare to twist fate for your own selfish needs! And by so doing you have made an enemy of the Highlord and Overlords!"
"Thing! You speak too much, come and fight if you dare!"
"Accept your fate Hittan! Or DIE! You can't fight me with one hand immobilised!"
Springing to his feet Hittan engaged the Overlord in a frightening exchange of blows while seemingly tied to one spot. Unfortunately, Hittan would realize that the Overlord was right and being without the use of one arm it started to affect his overall defence in close combat. But his efforts were not without merit and the Overlord himself was not unscathed.
Breathing heavily both parties separated with Overlord jumping back 30 meters.
"You are persistent and stubborn in your struggle against fate! You old goat, stop what you're doing! Do you even know the danger you are putting Gilead in by your actions?!"
"You… certainly, are long-winded!" Hittan looked once more to his right arm and realised that something felt wrong. But it seems it should come to an end soon and his arm would be free.
"Hittan, I will admit that you are tougher than I initially gave credit! But... it is time to end this!"
Overlord reached into a crack in space and withdrew a man size Alexandrite blade with a moonstone handle and a mother of pearl finished pommel.
"You actually have the 'Sword of Alexandria'?!"
"Yes, one of the supreme treasures of Gilead, given to me by the Highlord himself! Though most of these treasures are lost or unaccounted for, this is in my possession and with it, your defeat is nothing but imminent."
'...This is not looking good! I need to free up my hand to have a chance to even dream of stopping the might of that sword!'
"Hittan, I told you your folly would end here. Do you have anything to say before you draw your last breath?"
Hittan could only stare at the Overlord with a stubborn will in his eyes and hope his hand would be free soon enough! Unfortunately, fate had other plans for him and the Overlord began his merciless onslaught.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this… but you must die here..."
With a swing of his arm, the Sword of Alexandria came falling down from up on high and cleaved his chest open! Splash, a ting of Ruby red blood was now in the air and the scent of iron was apparent.
"AAaaarrrrrggggh!!!! Not like this… not when I'm so close to seeing her again…"
"...Still standing? ...Ruby blood? Old goat Hittan what are you? Well, it doesn't matter anymore, you leave me no choice!"
Another slash aiming to completely sever his torso!
CLINK!
The sword buried itself into his ribcage as he spat up more blood. Fate would not release his arm and by extension, he could not fall. However, the scent of blood became even richer and Hittan became increasingly pale.
"Ruby blood with Sapphire bones? You indeed were special Hittan. But why couldn't you accept your life and fate for what it was?"
Thrusting towards Hittan's heart with the final blow; all seemed certain at that moment, death was imminent! But it was at that moment that his right arm became free. Free for him to fall in his last moments.
"An Emerald heart? With Ruby blood and Sapphire bones… you were unique, but you were damned to die today, Hittan."
He laid there waiting as unwillingness could now be seen from his eyes. The flames of struggle burned in his soul. Revolt against death he thought as he grimaced. But like a moth to a flame, he was drawn to that warmth. Beckoning to him as he screamed in silence seemingly with his last breath!
Determined to be a Phoenix; rising from the ashes. He got to his feet with tears in his eyes, biting his lips as blood could be seen slowly dripping. His consciousness faded but he would not allow it to slip noiselessly.
"I, Hittan, am not done!" He professed as the torment was visibly seen splashed across his face. Sweat dripping, jaw clenched and madness now in his eyes! The embers of his memories smouldered, as the love he had for "her" could be seen stoking his will to live.
A step, as he struggled for another and yet another! "I will not go!" he declared with his arms outstretched to the heavens. His head was tilted back as the rays of sunshine kissed his forehead. A smile appeared then laughter followed. It echoed his will and determination to the heavens!
He would not go, determined to change his fate, for it to be anew. Rebirth his goal, death only an obstacle. Though he was beaten, battered and awaiting death. He was undaunted and unwilling to accept the end.
"So what if I dared to change MY fate?!"
Regardless of the suffering, he had made that choice and death was the consequence. But he did not regret this moment of his life when he finally saw what was truly valuable again.
His phoenix call; clear and loud! "Let the heavens tremble as I shall be reborn!"
But fate had not completely forgotten him as the mixture of his Ruby blood, Sapphire bones and Emerald green heart blossomed into a White Dragon Phoenix!
The last bit of determination from Hittan had momentarily stunned the Overlord. As he watched Hittan's last moments unfold undisturbed and with respect and pain. But this could truly be seen as his first fatal error in the fight so far and one he could not correct.
"...White Diamond Dragon Phoenix!? No, it can't be! Hittan, what are you?!! A MONSTER???!!! NOOOOO!!!!!"
BANG!!!!
With a flash of white light, Hittan was gone!
"Where has he gone to? I can't sense his presence on this plane or in any of the worlds of Gilead! I will have to report this to the Highlord at once! Surely I will not be faulted in failing to kill a being of the White Diamond Phoenix class?? If the Sword of Alexandria could not take his soul… who can?"
Releasing the white spectre light (Solar Flare) the face of an angelic female appeared.
