"What took you so long?" Mr. Zhang asked.
Liam smiled and looked at her as they sit beside each other.
"Nothing much, Uncle. I just asked about her plans."
Mr. Zhang glanced at her daughter.
"And what did she say?"
"Well, she said that she's staying for good."
"Did you talk about your plans for your future? And when will you discuss your marriage?" Mrs. Zhang asked.
Xyrin choked on her food. Liam caressed her back gently. After she recovered, she stood up. She wanted to tell them to stop their nonsense. She knows that they are the ones who asked Liam to pretend that everything is real, that they are indeed engaged to avoid public humiliation from what she did three years ago. But even before she said anything, Liam pulled her to sit again.
Afterward, he said smiling, "No need to worry, Uncle. We'll get there soon."
"That's good to know." Mrs. Zhang replied while Mr. Zhang nodded in agreement.
Xyrin silently pulled her hand from Liam's grip.
Liam looked at her, trying to figure out what's running on her mind.
She looks calm, far from the Xyrin that she'd known all her life. Right now, it's like she's the one who's controlling the whole situation. Or could it be that she really is?
No. That's not possible.
He knows that she still loves him because if she doesn't, she'll never agree to his demands and she would never believe him in the first place.
How could she believe that he's doing all these things just to punish her? Revenge? What for?
At that point, he asked himself, 'Why am I doing these?'
After some careful consideration, he said to himself, 'I'm simply doing these to prove myself that I'm right. I know that she still loves me. And whatever her reasons are, I'll make her admit and regret it.'
A sudden tap on his shoulder brought him to reality.
