Parted ways always hurts the most but, it was necessary when you are being in love with someone we don't want to loose even for a mili second. By the time she left by car, I locked my door. We never met again. The mistakes I have done still haunting me for a matter of fact that I clearly cheated on Prachi.
Later that day, Prachi and I didn't contact each other for weeks as the exams were hitting us hard but, chatting occasionally. She told me to meet her alone, and I never met her alone. I know that I met her but this was something else. My heart was beating very fast whenever I see her messages in anger. My mind started thinking about everything before saying anything blindly to her. Afraid of losing her was like a jobber waiting for their regular basic pay at the start of every month. Though we met during the school premises, Prachi's father would come to get her. Bhargav was constant as he always asks me everything to get him pass despite of different stream.
A night before the final exams, Prachi messaged me to meet her near the school.
"What is it?" Bhargav asked, holding a book on his thighs.
We were in my bedroom, trying to read Chemistry I as it was the toughest chapter to pass. Bhargav was siting idle, looking at me and asking what she messaged all the time.
"She wants to meet us!" I answered.
Suddenly, another message popped up. "She messaged again.—Wait!" I said.
There was a message with double quotes. "All Alone!"
"When?" he excited. "What did she mean by this?"
"Uh—tomorrow, I guess!"
"Do you understand?" she messaged.
Bhargav rushed on me to see the messages as he was extremely happy. I exited from the app and told him not to sneak on this chat. He went back saying that he will tell everything to Prachi what I said.
"I don't afraid of her, ok?" I corrected.
He laughed. "I see!"
"Are you there?" she added.
When she said all alone, it meant that I should be the only one but not Bhargav.
"Why not Bhargav? I want to meet you along with him. Let's enjoy together! What say?" I messaged.
"Things should go easier by now with you, Ragh, right?" Bhargav said, lying on the bed.
"Hmm." I hummed.
I remember that this message made her upset and replied, "Together in the sense?—Me and you, right? I don't like him with us. Better not talk to him anymore!"
"What? You were good with him last week. What the fuck is wrong with you?"
"Either me or him, choose any one of us!" she pulled me into a wrong situation.
"Did anything happen between you two?" I asked her.
"I don't want to say anything. Just don't talk otherwise lose me!" she messaged.
"You and me—right?"
As I was typing Bhargav, my finger pressed the backspace.
"Ragh, I asked you something!" she messaged again.
"Yes, only you," I messaged. "And me."
"Where did she want to meet us, Raghav?—Did she tell you the time?" he asked, continually
"Whom do you don't want to loose? Me or Bhargav?" she kept the question on me.
I answered him undeniably, "She was just joking around!"
"I lied to Bhargav, genuinely. For the first time, I felt making him away from me."
"Haha! Lets leave it like that, then. Just get started by reading tomorrow's exam," he said.
"Did I lie to her? I wish I could've told her what "together" actually meant."
"You!" I messaged after a lot of struggle.
I said to myself that Bhargav won't do anything even if I tell this because he is my forever friend.
"Explain me!" he said, loudly.
"Uh—I am thinking about that, idiot! Why can't you wait?"
"Bhargav, you are a understanding person than everyone else in this world."
**Next Day**
The day has come when we decided to meet at old school.
She was still writing the exam when I gave my paper sheet to the invigilator. I gestured her that I will leave to school and come after you complete. She nodded and I left. The lies I told to Bhargav to escape from him to meet her was utterly foolish.
School is the word, relieve us every time, and the memories will obviously drag us into the beautiful showcase of castle but, I was still in the dilemma of telling lies to my loved ones.
I reached earlier and sat on the bench beside the school entrance, waiting for her arrival. The memories were still fresh to breathe every inch of happiness happened in the school.
As the watch ticked to 12 noon, I saw her coming from the distance along with a boy.
"Who might be? He look like Bhargav."
My eyes were trying to focus them as I was having a minus point five sight.
My eyes got wide when I saw both of them clearly.
"What's going on here?"
I stood when they closed the distance.
"Hi!" I smiled at Prachi and awkwardly waved at Bhargav as he avoided the eye contact.
"Let's enjoy, Prachi and Bhargav!"
She slowly walked beside me and turned towards Bhargav.
"I won!" she smiled.
"What did you won?"
"Anything wrong with your mind, Prachi?" I chuckled.
I looked at Bhargav to check whether he was smiling or not but I found him not looking at me in the first place.
"Today, it's you, and maybe tomorrow—I will be the one for him!" Prachi pointed.
"Right, Raghav?" she asked, pressing her voice.
Her eyes were telling me that I've done something wrong which I shouldn't do.
