A few days ago:
As the final results of the entry test are released, the entire student body of the private academy is abuzz with excitement and anticipation. The corridor leading to the main office is crowded with students, all jostling for a glimpse of the coveted list of top scorers.
There also stood a tall, handsome young man with sharp features and piercing black eyes that seem to hold a world of secrets.
As he looked at the list of student marks, his eyes narrowed in disbelief. How could someone come so close to his score? He had always been the top student in the academy, and now, this scholarship student, Nova, had managed to get only four marks less than him.
He felt a sense of irritation and anger coursing through him. He didn't like the idea of someone challenging his position as the best student. He had worked hard for years to achieve this status, and he wasn't going to let someone take it away from him.
He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, staring at Nova's name on the list.
Present time:
Her heart was pounding as she waited for the professor to begin the lecture. Nova listened intently as the professor spoke, taking notes and trying to absorb as much information as possible.
The first lecture flew by in what felt like minutes, and Nova quickly moved on to her next class. The second lecture was just as engaging as the first, and Nova was starting to feel confident in her abilities.
By the time the third lecture rolled around, however, Nova was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. The material was becoming more complex, and she found herself struggling to keep up. But she refused to give up, determined to succeed no matter what.
As the fourth lecture ended, the break bell rang, signalling the start of a short break. Nova grabbed her backpack and headed out into the hallway, feeling a mix of excitement and exhaustion. She knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but she was ready to face it head-on.
Lara and Nova had just finished their morning classes and were feeling quite hungry. They decided to head to the cafeteria to grab some lunch. When they arrived at the cafeteria, they were greeted by the delicious aroma of fresh food. They scanned the room for an open table and quickly found one near the window. They sat down and began to peruse the menu. This was a very new experience for both of them. a school cafeteria so lavish .After a few minutes, a friendly server came by to take their orders. Lara ordered a chicken sandwich with fries, while Nova opted for a veggie burger with a side salad. They both ordered a refreshing iced tea to drink.
Lara: "Can you believe how fancy this cafeteria is? I feel like I'm in a five-star restaurant."
Nova: "I know, right? And those servers in their uniforms, it's like we're at a fancy dinner party."
Lara: "It's crazy to think that all of this is covered by our scholarship. I never would have been able to afford this kind of food and atmosphere on my own."
Nova: "Same here. In my previous school, I used to skip lunches"
Nova regretted telling lara about her personal situation as she never liked how people started to pity her.
Lara :"Why , yoy are already skinny."
Nova :Well, it was for to not put any more pressure on my parents. They already have enough on their plate with my grandma being sick and all the medical bills."
Lara: "I had no idea. I'm so sorry, Nova. That must have been really tough for you."
Nova: "It's okay, Lara. We do what we have to do. But it's really nice to be able to eat a good meal without worrying about the cost. I'm so grateful for this scholarship."
Lara: "Me too. It's amazing how much support we're getting. I never thought I'd be able to afford college, but here we are. I just hope we can make the most of this opportunity and give back to our communities in the future."
Nova: "Definitely. We have to remember where we came from and use this opportunity to make money, " She whispered in the last part under her breath .
As Lara and Nova were finishing up their lunch, they overheard a conversation between two students sitting at the next table. The students were discussing the upcoming scholarship program and how the scholarship students would be seated separately.
Lara and Nova were shocked to hear this. They had always believed that college was a place where everyone was equal and treated the same. They looked around the cafeteria and noticed that the hall was divided into two sections with an invisible wall.
One section was for the scholarship students, and the other was for the regular ellite students. Lara and Nova were both scholarship students, but only Lara felt disappointed and frustrated that they would be separated from their peers .Nova wasn't disappointed or shocked to see the cafeteria being divided for scholarship and rich elite students. She knew that in this world, only money works, and only money can give people power. She was well aware that this was a private academy, a world of the rich and privileged, and that she had been lucky enough to get a scholarship to attend. Nova saw the division in the cafeteria as a reminder of the realities of the world she was living in, and she was grateful for the opportunity she had been given. She knew that she had to work hard to make the most of it and to create a better future for herself and her family. Nova was determined.Nova firmly believed that making money was the only way to achieve success and security in life. She may have grown up in a family that struggled financially, and she saw firsthand the impact that money had on their lives. As a result, she became fixated on the idea of making money and achieving financial stability.
Later that day the students in nkva xlass foundout they are all scholarship students and regular students who rich have seprate section, they were astonished at the fact amd Some of the students decided to speak with someone from the college administration to find out more about this policy. They headed to the student services office and spoke with a counsellor .Lara grabbed Nova hand and took her too as Nova was not initially planning to go. She knew it would be useless.
At the Student Service Office:
Classmate: Why do we have to be in a separate class section than the regular students? It's not fair.
Counsellor: The scholarship program has certain requirements and expectations that the students must meet. This includes maintaining a certain grade point average and following the code of conduct. The separate class section is designed to provide additional support and resources to help you succeed.
Nova (interfering): But don't regular students get better teachers and education? Why can't we all have the same resources and opportunities?
Counsellor: The school strives to provide equal opportunities to all students, regardless of their financial background. However, the scholarship program has limited resources, and we have to allocate them in a way that benefits the students who need them the most.
Classmate: But that's not fair. We work just as hard as the regular students.
Nova: I understand how you feel, but we should focus on making the most of the resources we do have and strive to achieve our goals. We can't change the system, but we can change ourselves and our future.
The classmates calmed down as the counselor assured them that the policy was not meant to be discriminatory and that they could still interact with their classmates outside of the classroom. Lara was relieved to hear this and felt better about the situation, but Nova knew the truth.
