"Enough with this!", Mylbie blurted out breaking the silence that occured for almost an hour. "Can you please spare us time?", I'm the one who answered her since everyone remains quite.
"For what? Wasting the golden hours until everyone of us will die? Oh c'mon.", she said. " We are not baby who are crying over a spilt milk. We shall get out of this hell!"
"She's right," ma'am stood from her seat. "We need get out according to plan."
What happened a while ago went back, and the thing I promised. "What should we do? ", Katrina asked.
"Get a mask each of you," she went near the box and grab hers. I held the mask in my hand tighter while the others stood up and getting theirs too. Everyone of us wore those.
"This is the plan, as we heard Ken's word a while ago, those zombies would chase us, " maam stood in front of everybody, "we need to keep quite as far as we can. We cannot use the gate to go out, climbing it will be a risk." Yes it would, our school gate is 20 feet height and it is totally closed.
"So instead of the gate that we will climb, it will be the walls sorrounding the school." Maam said.
But Mylbie stood up, "But the walls are covered with electric wires."
"That may not be functioning now, there's a power interruption." Maam said. Everyone nodded. "Then, can we escape?" Asked one of my classmate. "We should." She replied.
"Since building no. 5 is the closest building with the walls, we will be heading there. We will be connecting fabrics such as curtains and blankets from the clinic to make a long rope, after that, we will be climbing to the third floor which is a bit higher from the walls, from there we will be releasing the rope and everybody could use it to get out." It sounds effective and it seems there are no other way.
"I will be assigning six men to get fabrics as many as you can from the clinic and go to building no. 5, third floor at block D room." She said. "Ken, you will be one, since you got additional learnings from what happened a while ago." She continued and pick five more. That's okay with me anyway.
She stood by the door, "We will be going out one by one, we should maintain this room unoccupied by the gas." Me and the six other first went out, after a person went out, Maam close the door immediately to prevent the gas from entering.
"Let's go." I said under my mask and glance on the five.
Since there are no zombies or infected people in this two-storey building, it's easier for us to walk rather than tiptoing.
We reached the ground immediately and greeted by a huge number of infected people. We continued walking but Robert, one of the five was left behind staring at the zombies. "They killed Ken," he muttered.
Ken is like a brother to him, the pain he felt is way more painful than ours.
"Let's go, don't do such thing that can ruin the plan," I whispered. "Not happening," he replied. I smiled because of his response. "Let's get going."
We reached the clinic thereby and grab all fabric we can see, the curtains, bed sheets, blankets and even rags. We left the clinic almost empty and messed up.
We walk towards the building maintaining are quiteness. As we reach there, we were greeted by hugs. Building no. 5 after all is a four-storey building and like the building we came from, there are no zombies lurking around.
We dropped the fabrics making a huge pile of it. Everyone gathered around it and begins tying and connecting each fabric. After some minutes, the long rope is now finished.
"Pull the other side," Mylbie ordered then I followed. We pulled the improvised rope from each side checking how stiff it is. And proved it then.
Maam Femy got the rope, tied it in the window and released it outside. "Who wants to go first?" Maam asked. I wanted to but this time I become hesitant, I'm afraid.
Benjie volunteered. He stood by the window and grab the rope tightly. Everyone look at him as he slowly bounce but as he touched the electric wire, we heatd a strong buzz sound.
One thing we knew, Benjie is now lying in the ground with his clothes messed up. Zombies were gathered around the dead body and he's being carried away.
Each of us fall in our knee. First it was Ken, next is Benjie, who's next? Are we all going to die? Tears flow from my eyes. My muscles weakened and it seems I can't move. Why the fuck is this happening?
Mylbie, trying to stop her tears assisted me as I fall from the ground. I mess my hair and started pulling it. "It's all my fault," more tears flowed, "first it was Ken, but he will not die if I'm not stupid leaving him behind and next its Benjie, he shouldn't die if I'm not this weak or frightened, it should be me who's lying in the ground not him!" I shouted but I felt a slap on my face as a response. "Stop it, you shouldn't be leaving." Mylbie said and I felt a warm hug on my back.
"But how?" Katrina asked, "I thought there's a power interruption." Maam Femy is also shocked. That's questionable, how?
"I don't know if this information is valuable," Anthonneth raised her hand, "as a member of the Science And Technology Club, I heard that it was connected into certain generator. I was late to realize, I'm sorry." She started crying.
How can we escape, there's now way we can escape through the walls. The cemented wall is 4 meters high and the live electric wire is 4.5 meters high, only a good acrobat could do it, but among us, there's none.
"But can we find the generator and turn it off?" Mylbie asked. Anthonneth slowly shook her head. "It is burried and cemented underground and it is activated automatically if there's a power down."
How can we escape this now? A second later, we heard a scream upstairs.
