They only saw Morgan 3 years after at grandfather Vanderbilt's birthday. They weren't able to communicate with Morgan for the entire time she was gone, and not for the lack of effort.
For the past 3 years, they always went to Europe at the end of every school year in the hopes of seeing her but she always managed to leave the country before they even arrive. They tried all possible means to reach her but nothing worked. Not even Morgan's parents were able to talk to her. She's way too slick.
Morgan returned to the country yesterday for her grandfather's birthday. She knew her grandfather was starting to sulk for missing several of his birthdays. She simply can't say no to her grandfather this time when the latter invited her for his birthday. Thus, here she is, standing at the entrance of the grand hotel after alighting from the car.
The valets, guards, front desk clerks, and other staff of the hotel were astounded upon seeing her. Who is this goddess? Is it really possible for someone as beautiful as her to exist? Their eyes followed her all the way until she rode the elevator and even then. She was that beautiful!
Morgan was wearing a long dark green velvet gown with slit as high as the sky exposing her long and shapely porcelain leg on one side. It is a long-sleeved gown with a bare back displaying her alluring back. Adorning a black Onyx earrings, she was truly bewitching.
She strutted towards the entrance of the function hall which hosted her grandfather's birthday celebration and was gaining attention left and right.
When the guests saw her, they were awestruck. Who is this fine lady?
Murmurs can be heard from the crowd.
"Who is she?"
"Is she an heiress from a powerful family?"
"Do you think she would be willing to marry my son?"
"My, what a beautiful woman!"
"Do you know her?"
"Is she still single?"
Morgan ignored them and didn't spare them a single glance. Some people found it rude.
"Pff! What a snob. Does she think she's so great? Nobody even knows her" said a socialite mother.
"Wait, she looks familiar... where have I seen her before?" said another socialite.
"Now that you mentioned it, she does look familiar" answered another woman.
The younger generations were rendered speechless upon seeing her. Is that...
"Morgan" whispered Mason. He could only stare at her, unblinking. It was as if time stopped.
Alex looked at Mason. "Huh? Did you say something?"
But Mason wasn't paying attention to him and looked particularly focused on something. Alex's curiosity was piqued. His back was facing the entrance that's why he had no idea who arrived. He was frozen in place when he turned. "Morgan?"
Seeing Morgan, Alex abruptly stood up and hurriedly went to her.
"Morgan? You're here?" Alex uncertainly said.
"Alex... you very well see that i am" Morgan replied indifferently.
Alex became awkward. How was he supposed to respond to that? He didn't know how to react towards his sister anymore. Her disposition changed.
"Uhm... it's great that you're here..."
Seeing Alex's awkwardness, Morgan said, 'I've got to go greet grandfather."
With that, she left Alex. The latter could only watch her leave him standing alone.
Grandfather Vanderbilt was talking to the president of the country when he saw an approaching figure. He felt that the gait was quite familiar. Grandfather Vanderbilt squinted his eyes to focus on the face of the figure, then, he suddenly exclaimed, "Morgan!"
Hearing the name, the place somewhat quieted.
Morgan? As in his granddaughter Morgan who left the country 3 years ago? She's back?
Morgan became more beautiful than ever. Everyone was surprised to see her. She was akin to a painting who became alive. She was truly a sight to behold.
"Granddad, happy birthday!" Morgan warmly smiled at her grandfather and hugged him.
Morgan did not forget to politely smile at the president. "Pardon the intrusion, Mr. President."
The president was impressed. Morgan was unlike the other socialites her age. She exudes sophistication and intelligence. Everything about her was graceful.
"No problem at all, Morgan. Your grandfather was just complaining to me now how her favorite granddaughter was forgetting about him." The president laughed.
Morgan lightly laughed. "My grandfather had indeed become dramatic at his old age."
"Morgan! You made it!" grandfather Vanderbilt happily said. He didn't care if they were mocking him. He was teary-eyed upon seeing his favorite granddaughter he almost couldn't contain his happiness.
"I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world, old man" Morgan said warmly.
"Oh my! Is that you Morgan? When did you become this gorgeous, dear?" grandmother Vanderbilt cried out.
"Good to see you too, grandmom" Morgan laughed whilst engulfing her grandmother in a hug.
"Come, dear. We have a lot of catching up to do" grandmother Vanderbilt said while dragging Morgan away.
Grandfather Vanderbilt pouted a bit seeing his wife drag Morgan away. He just got Morgan and now someone's taking her away! They haven't even talked properly! And she came back for his birthday. He should be the one hogging all of his granddaughter's time.
Adrianna and Sebastian Vanderbilt were shocked upon seeing a familiar face they hadn't talked to for 3 years.
"Morgan. You finally came home" father said hesitantly.
Morgan glanced at her father and calmly replied, "I only came home for grandfather's birthday. I'll be gone in a few hours, father."
"Wouldn't you like to visit the mansion? You still have a lot of your things there" asked mother. They hoped to be able to talk to Morgan. Their daughter have been avoiding them like a plague and they wish to smoothen out their relationship. Morgan's their daughter after all and they admit that they wrongly accused her.
"I'm unfortunately behind schedule so I'm afraid I won't be dropping by, mother. As for my things, you can throw them away or donate it to charity or whoever. I really don't need them anymore" Morgan answered politely, albeit expressionlessly.
Morgan's parents can really feel the gaping hole in their relationship. But they can't do anything about it. One thing they know is that they can't force Morgan to do anything she doesn't want to do. They hope to mend their broken relationship someday. For now, they'll let her be.
After catching up with her grandmother, Morgan excused herself to go to the powder room.
There, she encountered Agatha, Celestine's best friend.
"So the phenomenal daughter returns. How does it feel not having any friends around anymore?" Agatha snootily questioned.
She hates Morgan and blames her for the fall of Celestine. Although the latter didn't really do anything, she will still make it her mission to avenge Celestine and embarrass Morgan today.
