Morgan sighed at the events years ago. It was something she doesn't want to experience again. Unfortunately, fate have a twisted sense of humor.
After visiting her parents' and grandparents' mansions, she was now on her way to the Vanderbilt building, presently managed by her brother, Alex. Entering the building, she strode towards the elevator when the receptionist suddenly stopped her.
"Excuse me, miss! Did you have an appointment with someone?" asked the receptionist.
"I'm here to see Alexander" answered Morgan directly.
The receptionist sneered upon hearing Morgan. Looking at her from head to toe, the receptionist thought 'another shameless bimbo was trying to climb their CEO's bed'.
"I'm sorry but you need to set an appointment before you can meet anyone from the office. Also, sorry to inform you but not anyone can just meet our CEO. Further, only CEO's of other companies can set an appointment with our CEO. It's company policy. I'm afraid I'm going to ask you to leave." The receptionist impolitely said after concluding that Morgan was merely a nobody.
"Really now?" Morgan smiled at the receptionist chillingly.
The receptionist froze seeing Morgan's smile. The smile scaring her a bit. But she brushed it off thinking that Morgan was just someone ordinary. Wearing only a crop top and tattered jeans, the receptionist think that Morgan was just another pretty woman trying to enter the world of the wealthy. Besides, there was no order from the top to allow a certain someone access.
While this was happening, the general manager of the Vanderbilt empire just came down and was thoroughly shocked upon seeing a beautiful yet familiar face he hadn't seen in ages.
"M-Miss Morgan!" politely exclaimed the general Manager named Leon.
The receptionist was rendered speechless. The general manager was known to be cold towards others. But he was overly respectful towards this woman. Who is this woman? The receptionist start to tremble. 'Oh dear, did I just offend someone I wasn't supposed to?'
"Leon, I'm disappointed in your employee. They lack basic manner, yes?" Morgan said nonchalantly while leaning on the counter.
"Uh... uhm Kimberly is quite new here... I hope you pardon her rudeness, miss. I'll make sure she receives the proper p-punishment" the general manager stuttered nervously while glaring at the receptionist.
"Hmm"
"I'll make sure this won't happen again, miss."
"Hmm"
The general manager start to sweat. "I apologize on her behalf, miss Morgan", he said while deeply bowing. He gave the receptionist a look which made the receptionist do the same. She echoed the general manager, "I-I'm s-sorry, miss Morgan. P-please accept my apology". The receptionist was so scared out of her wits. 'Oh my god. I'm going to lose my job.'
Morgan remained silent causing Leon and the receptionist to become nervous wrecks.
After a few moments, Morgan smiled mischievously, then turned to walk away from the two.
Leon and the receptionist was stupefied. What just happened?!
When Morgan was no longer in sight, the general manager glared so hard at the receptionist which in turn made the latter fidget so hard.
"What on earth were you thinking?! Don't you know the woman you just tried to impolitely stop? Are you blind? Can't you see that woman resembles the rest of the Vanderbilt family? She's only the CEO's younger sister. You're blind! Certainly blind! And stupid! Very stupid! You better make a portfolio of miss Morgan from she was still a child up to the present and study it so hard that you're going to dream about her. Now you better hide in the janitor's closet and pray until I permit you to leave so that she won't see your face when she comes down. You better pray that she won't have our head! Now scram!"
The general manager was so angry and stressed at the same time. Stupid employee!
The receptionist was so frightened she immediately stood up and ran away from the angry Leon.
Leon prayed that the miss was magnimous enough to let go of the event now or he would surely lose such a good paying job. He really wanted to strangle the damn receptionist. He was going to make sure that nothing like this will ever happen again. He then decided to call all rank and file employees including the guards and utility men for a briefing.
At the top floor, all the assistants and secretaries were stunned upon seeing Morgan walked out of the elevator. After a brief silence, all of them simultaneously stood and bowed.
"Welcome, Miss Morgan."
They were long time employees of the company so they were familiar of her. Those who were new simply mimicked the other employees. Although they were very surprised of Morgan's appearance, they were trained to greet members of the Vanderbilt family it was already an automatic conduct for them.
Morgan graced them with a small smile and continued walking towards Alexander's office and entered without knocking.
Alex didn't know that Morgan was going to visit. He didn't even know that she was in the country. So when he saw Morgan walked through the door, like his assistants and secretaries, Alex was stunned.
"Morgan?"
"Hello, Alex."
