Two days have gone by since the battle started. Dan, a soldier, walks up along with the other soldiers of Askalandra towards the captain of their squad.
"Sir, all clear here."
"Good work, men."
Jek, another soldier, looks around with ease.
"Sir, is this all they can do? Quite disappointing. I think I can charge my way through their capital all on my own."
The captain frowns and says, "Jek, don't let your guard down so easily. We'll have to report to the prince before any conclusions."
"Yes, sir..."
Jek whispers to Dan about how the Defus aren't as strong as everyone makes them sound and belittles the Defus.
"Maybe it was their trick. We shouldn't underestimate them. They didn't bring any magicians or strong weapons. I also don't see any generals or captains...it's like they didn't come prepared at all."
"Well, they always looked down on us so they probably thought they could defeat us without any strong forces. Hah, idiots!"
Dan stays silent. Jek smirks and puts his arm over Dan's shoulders.
"Hey, what are you daydreaming about? Ohhh. You're thinking about your little girlfriend again, aren't you?"
Dan blushes. "Gosh, shut up! You're so annoying sometimes... this is a serious situation!"
"What about your girlfriend is not serious? Romance should count as a serious topic too! Just look at me. I've gone to hundreds of blind dates but I'm still SINGLE. I would usually talk about it like a joke but it's getting really serious now. I'm going to end up single for my whole life. Seriously."
"Maybe if you stop with your bad jokes, you'll be able to find a decent woman."
"No...I need a woman who can understand my jokes! Or else she'll just be as boring as you. Ugh, two Dans in my life sound horrible."
"One Jek is already giving me headaches," Dan mumbles to himself.
Far away from where they were, was Prince Loki, his guards, and several generals searching the dead bodies of the Frendrilk Soldiers.
A captain from one of the squads in charge of the soldiers approaches them on a horse.
Prince Loki glances over to the captain who is coming closer towards him.
"Any findings?"
The captain stops his horse and gets down from his horse. He bows politely to the Prince.
"Your highness. I've ordered my men to search through the Defus corpses. I originally wanted to keep some as captives but they refused to surrender and killed themselves before we could take them by force."
The captain's eyebrows furrow as he takes a deep breath.
"We looked through their corpses...but unfortunately, we weren't able to find anything. We were hoping to find clues about their general that led the army, but there were no trails of him. I'm afraid they have developed some kind of advanced magic that can erase their traces, your highness."
"I see..."
Prince Loki looks over to his guards.
"Any findings here?"
"No, your majesty."
"It's strange... I don't know what the Frendrilks are thinking. Every battle we fought with them...they never wore this kind of armor and never fought in such a childish manner before," a general says as he looks around.
Another general comes forward and says, "I cannot understand their motives for this attack. They certainly weren't looking to destroy us. There was no sign of the Hades Knights and they didn't even bring any kind of advanced weapon or powerful magicians. It's very suspicious of them to do this... unless they had another plan behind it...?"
Prince Loki nods and thinks about everything that they have said.
"Let us continue our discussion when we get back to the palace. For now, we should go back and declare our victory. Everyone is waiting after all."
"Understood."
They all get on their horses and prepare to go back to the kingdom.
A gust of wind blows as Prince Loki is deep in thought.
Frendrilk...Kingdom of Devil. You really crave for the blood of our people...our cries and our screams to satisfy your own greed. But you will never be satisfied. You'll always be hungry for more. And that greed will soon end your beloved kingdom.
