Kora rolls back and forth in the bed, unable to sleep.
"This is so boring...Maybe I should count how many wood planks there are. Yea, that will do. I'll think of something else to do when I finish counting."
Kora starts counting the planks in a dull tone. She counts the wood planks one by one. When she gets to seventy-eight, she hears people talking from downstairs again.
"It sounds like Emili's voice!"
Kora carefully gets out of bed and rushes downstairs.
Emili looks up and sees Kora walking down the stairs.
"Kora! Are you feeling better?"
"Better than ever! It was so boring upstairs...Did you finish baking?"
"Oh. About that..."
Ken points towards the kitchen and Kora takes a peek. "Sorry, Kora. You see the kitchen is a mess right now. I'm afraid it's nearly impossible to make anything."
"Oh. It's okay then. It can't be helped after all. You can always make me something next time!"
Emili looking touched, says, "Kora!~~ You're the best! Just wait! I'll make you the best food I've ever made in my entire life for you once the kitchen is fixed up! Dad, you have to help too. This is for Kora so it has to be perfect!"
"What? Are you guys starting a feast or something?" Jek says as he walks closer to Kora.
"Who is this kid?"
Hm? I wonder who he is. He looks a bit flirty for some reasons...like those types of people who don't take things seriously...Kora thinks to herself.
"She's Kora, my newly hired food taster, and my savior! Kora, this is Jek. He's a soldier from this kingdom. Although he's still kind of a newbie. The battle from two days ago was probably his first battle."
"What's with that introduction? It makes me sound so weak and irrelevant. If it was Dan standing here, you would've said something completely different."
Emili blushes after hearing the name, Dan.
"H-hello, Jek. I'm Kora. Nice to meet you."
"Hey, kiddo. Nice to meet you too."
Jek gets a little closer to Kora and smirks. "Have you heard of my heroic records on the battlefield? The story of me slaying 100 Defus in one minute."
Emili pulls Jek away from Kora.
"Okay, okay. Enough of your nonsense. Didn't you come to help my dad?"
"Excuse me? When did I ever say that? I just came along with Dan 'cause I was bored! You know what...whatever. I'll just help along since I'm a loner who has nothing to do."
"I thought so. Dad! Jek will be helping you today. Call him for anything, okay?"
Ken smiles. "Really? That would be great! Come along with me my hero, Jek! I'll hear your story!"
"Ken...You're the only one that understands me!!"
Jek wipes away his invisible tears away.
"Don't make him do too much work though, Dad. I think he was also hurt in the battle."
Jek shakes his head.
"Those Defus use swords made out of cotton. Heh, they can't hurt me."
"Come on, it's still important to stay safe."
Ken nods and looks over to Jek.
"Emili is right. You checked with the Medics, right?"
"Yea, yea. I even stayed at the clinic for like five minutes. It was that serious. Now Ken, ready to hear my story?"
Kora interrupts the conversation.
"U-um. You went to the clinic?"
"Hmm? What's wrong with that?"
"I was just...wondering. Emili told me clinics aren't that good of a place to get treatment from so..."
"Hah, don't worry. It's different for us. I mean, I am a soldier protecting this kingdom. They can't treat me the same way commoners are treated on West Street."
"West Street?"
Emili smacks Jek's head.
"Ahem. Enough talking. Go help work with my dad."
"Okay, okay! Geez."
Jek walks into the kitchen with Ken. "So...about me slaying 100 Defus..."
Jek continues talking about his story to Ken while the girls are having a short conversation.
Emili looks at Kora with a nervous yet frightening look.
"Kora, West Street isn't a safe place. You can't go there, okay? Especially since you haven't fully recovered yet."
"O-okay."
"Good. Well, you should go rest for now. I need to clean this place up. It's a mess right now as you can see..."
Kora wants to help out with the cleaning but Emili is against it. After all, she is injured. However, after some time of Kora begging Emili, she finally agrees.
Kora and Emili start cleaning the floors and adjusting the tables outside while Ken and Jek work in the kitchen fixing the walls and furniture.
Every few minutes, Emili would look outside worried.
"Hmm...He's still not here. I wonder what happened. I hope he didn't get into any accidents..."
Kora coughs and clears her throat.
"Emili...um you've been sweeping that area for like twenty minutes now. I think you can sweep over there now."
"Oh! Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Do you need any help over there?"
"No. I'm fine. Thanks though."
