Later that night, I had just woken up from a dream. Tears were streaming down my face. I had thought of the crash, and had seen my sister again. I shuddered as I sat up and looked around. Me, being the only one without a sleeping bag, got the probably cockroach infested bed. Max was in his sleeping bag, and Robyn was... out on the balcony. She had changed into pajamas and I blushed slightly. She looked cute. I had stopped thinking those thoughts as soon as I saw her face. She was crying and all I was thinking about was... nevermind. Anyways, I felt guilty. I got out of bed and went to go lean on the balcony next to her. I slowly touched her shoulder. "Are you ok?" I asked. She didn't say anything, but I could tell my hand was making her uncomfortable so I removed it. "Remember when Max said something about me not liking boys?" She asked, finally looking at me. "Yeah..." I said. "Well, I don't like boys because... my dad..." She replied. I looked at her with shock. "Oh my God! Did he rape you!?" I asked, wide eyed. She looked at me. "No! Look, ugh... He used to hit my mom... and I just didn't want it to happen to me..." I couldn't help but feel offended that she thought that all guys were like that. "Well, y'know, some guys are good!" I said, trying to convince her. "No, I don't know." She replied quietly, not meeting my eye. "I don't feel like talking to you about this anymore." She said, going to bed. I looked at her as she climbed into her sleeping bag. I thought it was dumb that she didn't want to date guys because of her dad. I sighed. I thought that even if I thought it was stupid, I should respect her and not make her uncomfortable. I looked down at everything. I saw fire, hordes of zombies, and a bird sitting in a tree. I thought the bird was lucky that it didn't have to deal with any of this. I wish I could be a bird. Maybe if I jumped, I could fly away. I set one foot on the balcony but then went back inside and locked the balcony door. I was being an idiot. A major idiot who knew nothing about apocalypse's, birds, or girls.
