Chapter 3 - Arrival

Three hours passed.

We flew at an amazing speed. There were many different animals that flew. From a family of small Wyverns to a swarm of different sized butterflies. The sky had its own ecosystem and of course the dragon was at the top of the food chain. This was why we weren't attacked by any of these animals. They all feared the dragon.

Another hour passed and we arrived at the capital. Luck let us down at the capital.

"Well this is as far as I'll take you. I have to go take my dragon back to it's living space on the other side of the city. You guys can take the train over there and it'll take you straight to the entrance of the academy. Bye and see you around."

Luck then flew off.

Wow. A train? It was the first time I've ever seen one. Trains were powered by magical stones. Magical stones are stones that are compressed with magic. These stones are mined and used for power. There are different uses of these stones; from turning on a single light to powering a whole train system. In my town, houses were powered by three stones: one stone for electricity, another for running water, and another for fire. We didn't have a train back home because everything was in walking distance and if anything required distance, there were couriers. These couriers knew how to use magic to fly and would take request from the townsmen; of course not free of charge.

"Come on Dex stop looking around. We have to get on the train before it gets crowded! Hurry!"

Elly grabbed my arm and then pulled me towards the train.

Thankfully the trains were free for academy students and luckily there were two seats still available.

"Five minutes until we depart." A loud voice said.

"Elly what is that voice? You can hear it too right?"

Elly let out a chuckle and said, "That's the conductor. He used wind magic to project his voice through out the train to let us know when we'll depart."

"Ah. I never knew wind magic could be used like that."

The train then departed.

We passed all throughout the capital. I noticed it when we arrived, but there are so many people. All different types of people. From big to small. I've never seen so many people let alone so many different types of people.

"Elly are those short people dwarves? And what about those people with pointy ears? Are they elves? Oh and are those beast-men? Those with the cat ears and bunny ears? I've also never seen so many different hair colors. I thought people only had black or brown hair. I've never seen red hair or that yellow hair before. And I thought only old people have white hair, but that man and woman over there are young and they have white hair."

"Calm down Dex. Be quiet. You're being a bit loud. Sorry about the noise. Sorry."

Ah I didn't notice I was being a nuisance to those around me and now Elly apologized for me.

"Sorry Elly and sorry people for being loud. Sorry."

Elly let out a sigh and smiled. She then said, "You're still as energetic as ever Dex. Even when you're so far from home."

I chuckled a bit and said, "Well you know how I get whenever I see something that I'm not familiar with. I just go off on a tangent."

The train made two stops and so another hour passed. We then arrived at Griffin Academy.

"Wow! It's so huge! There are so many students. I wonder how many students apply. So many fail, but yet there are still this many students! Wow."

"Yeah it is amazing. Okay you see that line over there Dex? Over at the far right?"

"Yeah"

"That's the freshmen line. Go lineup. I have to go over here on the far left for the sophomore line. Well, let's go line up and at lunch time meet me in the library. In the first floor. Somewhere I can see you when I enter. I don't want to go look for you all through out lunch. Got it? Don't forget, Okay?"

"Yes I got. I won't forget. Promise. Bye bye oh Elly, and if you don't see me, you probably arrived before me so wait for me and somewhere I can see you when I enter. I don't want to go look for you all through out lunch. Got it? Don't forget, Okay?"

"Hahaha very funny and yeah if I don't see you, I'll wait. Also, Dex, be mindful of your surroundings. Try not to get in trouble. Okay, well, bye bye Dex."

We waved good bye and Elly left. I could still see her in the distance because she was taller than most of the girls.

Even though the line was long, I only waited in line for thirty minutes until it was my turn. As expected from Griffin Academy; quick and efficient.

"Hello, name?"

"Hi, my name is Dexter Light."

"Dexter Light. Hmm, one moment. L ..... I ..... G ... ah Light, Dexter. Okay here you go."

"Huh? What's this?"

He handed me an emblem about the size of the palm of my hand. The emblem had an angry looking Griffin with a silver background.

"Ah yes, let me explain. Place that pin on the left side of your chest. Then press down on it."

I did as he said and then the emblem began to shine. Poof. Out came my uniform. My uniform then attached itself to my body. It felt as if my body was being hugged by a warm force. I felt secure. The uniform looked like a normal uniform: White shirt, tie, black slacks, and a nice black overcoat with the silver Griffin emblem on the left side of my chest. After my uniform attached itself to me, out came a book bag. The book bag contained a key to my dorm, and my class schedule and a map of the school.

"Nice isn't it? That emblem uses space magic and contains the necessities a student needs. The silver emblem means freshman. The second year emblem is platinum. The third year is diamond and the the fourth is mithril. Look here, mine is diamond which means I'm a third year. Well enough of that, you see those kids? Follow them to the auditorium in the center and sit anywhere on the right hand side. The right hand is where first years sit."

"Oh okay. Thanks."

I followed the other kids and made my way to the auditorium.

"Wow this is so big! I've never been in a building so huge."

I made my way to the right side and I luckily I found an empty seat in the first row and sat down.

More and more students made their way inside the auditorium. Once it all filled up, the lights dimmed and on the stage there was a student. He had white hair and glasses. He was quite tall and handsome. He had a mithril emblem on his uniform. He then spoke

"Hello students."
