He put Nami down and she grabbed his hand, they walked up the path together. Cassidy had entered the house and saw them through the window. She opened the door and stood in the doorway. Nami skipped to her and Cassidy hugged her. Hugo smiled as he walked towards them. Nami skipped into the house. Cassidy walked in following her. Hugo took a drink and walked in the house. Nami pulled out a chair and sat down at the table. Cassidy pulled a book from out of the self and placed it in front of her with a pencil. Hugo sat down at the table. Cassidy had her drawing book already on the table. Hugo looked at her questioning. She smiled at him and then looked at Nami. It seemed more than just a simple textbook. Hugo leaned over and saw the title of the book. 8th grade?! She isn't even in 1st grade. He turned to look at Cassidy, who was drawing.
"Does she do them all correctly?" He whispered.
"Yes, she is a little genius," She giggled, "Sona taught her many things, I never knew your mother was that smart."
"But she is just four, how can she do these things already?"
"She is a natural, she enjoys it, but she is shy, so she finds fun in the ways she can."
"How are your drawings going? Are they still about me?"
"Yeah, well, more or less, I haven't been drawing much these days," She said, "My day often went the same way."
"What do you mean?"
"Get up, prepare breakfast, wake up Nami, prepare her and feed her, then drop her off at school, talk with your adviser and then often times I would spend the day at the beach or with Sona, then go get Nami and prepare dinner and Sona would often come over for dinner, then I put Nami to sleep and then put myself to sleep, then repeat."
"Can she swim?"
"I haven't taught her yet," She said, "I haven't had the time."
"Maybe tomorrow we can go out to sea, and spend the day there, what do you think?"
"I think that would be fun," She said as she kissed him. Nami was scribbling equations down in the book. She finished the page and pushed the book over to Cassidy. Cassidy took the book and flipped to the back, she checked off the ones that were correct, they were all correct. She smiled and pushed the book back.
"That's my girl. All correct, good job."
"They weren't super easy," She said, "But I tried, they used the same base as the older level books, like the 7th grade book," Hugo was speechless, He was awkwardly smiling. By the creator. He shook his head. He looked as Nami flipping through the book, she stopped on a page with several sentences. Writing and math, what else? Politics? He silently laughed and took a drink.
"Should I do these ones or these ones?" Nami asked showing Cassidy the pages of the book, "I don't know which one to chose."
"Do whichever one you want," She smiled, "I think you can do them both."
"Okay, I'll do both."
Hugo sat there looking over Nami as she worked, her hand sped over the book. She was so concentrated, that she didn't budge when he got up and knocked over his chair, making Cassidy jump, she just continued to work. Hugo picked up his chair and walked towards the door.
"Where are you going?"
"I am going to see how Omega and Sona are doing, I will invite them to eat," He said as he pushed open the door, "And at the same time I needed to talk with Undritch, about business."
"Okay then, see you later."
He walked down the path. Omega and Sona lived in a small house near the tavern. I'll go see him after. But as he past the tavern, something made him change his mind.
"Undritch, Noxians aren't allowed in Bilgewater," A man said loudly, "We might have to deal with you like the other Noxians, a bullet through the head."
"No, just let me explain, I am here to help you, you can ask your Capt'n," He pleaded, "I am no longer Noxian, I have been banished."
"Enough lying, tonight you die, fate has come knocking on your door," Hugo pushed open the door, in his demonborn form. He had never showed it to the people of Bilgewater, some of the men noticed him and just stared at him as he walked towards the man. The man drew a gun and pointed it at Undritch, who was pleading on his knees. Undritch pointed at Hugo when he saw him, but the man thought he was lying to distract him.
"Leave him, what he says is true," Hugo bellowed in a demonic voice, "He is with us."
"He is Noxian, he deserves to die," The man said not turning to face Hugo, "They killed my brother, I can't allow them to come here and kill more."
"Will you fucking listen to your leader?" He said placing his black, clawed hand on the gun and smashing it, "He is with us."
"Capt'n? What the fuck?" The man said turning around, falling face to face with Hugo, still in his demonborn form, "You aren't Capt'n."
"I am," He said as he voice returned to normal and his demonborn form faded, "He is with me, he was banished and is offering information for protection, and clearly, you should be dead as well, you only know him if you worked with him," Hugo stared the man dead in the eyes and whispered, "You are a smuggler, and you worked with him before he was banished, but I will let that slide if you keep your head down and disappear from my sight, NOW!" The man scrambled out of the tavern. Hugo held out his hand, helping Undritch back to his feet. He dusted his clothes and straightened his hair. Hugo shook his head slowly and sighed.
"How are you?"
"I am fine," He said, "My past life is catching up to me."
"Don't worry, you will be leaving to the front in a month or so, so you will be with more straight-minded people, not with a couple of nutcases like him."
"Thank you," He said as he went back to the bar counter, "I thought I was a dead man, but what was that?
"Demonborn."
"You are a demonborn?"
"Yeah, so is my father."
"I know, it is passed down only from father to son. I stole some of the documents about the reports before I left Noxus, I have them in my room if you want them."
"Well, you surely planned to bring down Noxus, didn't you?"
"Well, I noticed something fishy so I decided to erase traces of the battles to make sure that if I had the chance to help you, I could."
"Well, bring them after tomorrow, I am going out on a boat trip tomorrow, so I won't have time to look at them all."
"Will do," He said as he took a drink from his glass, "Have a good evening."
"Thanks," He said as he left the tavern. He walked to the door of the house next to it and knocked. He heard the door lock click and the door opened. Sona was there to answer it. She smiled when she saw him.
"How are you Hugo? What did you come here for?"
"I wanted to invite you two to dinner at our place," He said, "If you want of course."
"Sure, I think that will be great, we will be there, what time should we come?"
"At 7," Hugo answered, "So in two hours."
"Okay, we'll be there, thank you," She smiled as he left. She closed the door and locked it. He walked back to the path. He paused and took a drink. He felt something tap his back and call him. He turned around and saw no one, he looked down.
"Yes, my son, what can I do for you?"
"My father, is a soldier, when will he be coming back?"
"What division is he in?"
"The 3rd," The boy said, "I haven't seen him in a long time."
"He should be back in a month or two, if I remember well, he should be back in a month," He said as he patted the boy's head, "Don't worry, he is a hero, like all the men who fight at my side, think of it as him doing this to protect you and make a better future for you, how do feel about that?"
"Thank you," The boy said, "I hope he comes back soon. Bye!"
"Goodbye," Hugo said as he got up again. Third division... 13 deaths on the last raid, hopefully he didn't die. He shook his head at the thought and sighed. He walked up the path and pushed the door open. Nami was still sitting at the table, she was reading an old book. Cassidy was sitting on the bed, doing her nails. He sat next to Nami.
"What are you reading?"
"This old book that mother gave me, it seems to be about different people," She said not moving her eyes from the book, "What is this word?" She showed him the book pointing at a blurry word.
"Yordle," He read, "They are still around, they are with the Demacians."
"Why are then so small? Less than 1 meter tall," She asked looking up at him.
"You should ask Sona."
"Why?" He took to the book and flipped to the beginning and pointed at the blurred out author's name, "That is an S, that's it, what does that mean?"
"The full name in Sona, it is her book."
"Okay, I'll ask her, but don't you find it cool that there are people who can make themselves wings and are super strong."
"Who are they?"
"D-e-m-o-n-b-o-r-n, is that how you say that?"
"Yep, that's demonborn," He said, "What else did you learn in this book?"
"Um, I read the interesting ones."
"Interesting ones?"
"Yeah, um, on the table of context."
"You are a little genius, my daughter."
"You're back," Cassidy said noticing Hugo, "What did they say?"
"They said that they would come for 7," He said, "I ordered the food, so you don't need to prepare anything."
"Thank you, when did you think of it?"
"When you were at the beach," He said, "Look at what Nami is reading."
"Isn't it a little complicated for you, Nami?"
"No, some words are weird but I can understand it," She said as she lifted her eyes from the book and turned to look at Cassidy, "Mother, do you have a map of Terruna?"
"Why do you need a map?"
"To see where these people are from," She said as she pointed at the page, "So do you?"
