The sun rose over the battered fields of Terruna. A war raged on. It started several decades earlier. The four founding families of the first settlement of Terruna, Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, and Shurima, had broken their fragile alliance and sparked the flames for a war of hatred and jealousy, a war for the domination of Terruna and its people. But this war wasn't a war for everyone. Some of the settlements that broke off of the families and had flourished, were now caught in the crossfire of the war. Most of the cities had fallen or joined the neighboring empires.
"How did the war start?"
"Well, my son, It started back some 79 years ago, before you were even born. This story goes back many years, before the war, even before the city of ruins and before the splitting of the families," He paused, "Me and my wife were here with the first settlement, which people now call the Domain of the Gods. We were arrived with four families, the ancestors of Demacia, Noxus, Ionia and Shurima. We settled on the outskirts of a forest," He pulled out a map and showed a circle around the Ruined City, "We settled on the outskirts of the forest and we had to survive with what our creator had given us, a river and a forest with animals and edible plants. The families grew around us and several years later, we had a small village with several families but there were no powerful families. We live in peace and everyone did their work to make the village survive and grow, but when people started to argue there was no boss to decide on what to do, so they took the initiative to have a sort of counsel to have representatives from the families to discuss the problems and find solutions. But of course this meant corruption, blackmail and caused the system to collapse after a few years. But at this point the original families had died and the only original settlers were my wife and I, so they thought of putting us in charge and to keep them from breaking down, we accepted it. They were happy since we were not bias and we did what was best for the community. This went on for several years before a member of the Shurima family had stolen a Token of Ascension. These were items that were given after each annual competition organized by the city and in which each family in the city participated. And the winner would win one of these tokens giving them the powers to overthrow one of our decisions, anonymously. This lead to the winners of the competition, the Demacians, to brutally murder the Shuriman and thus it spark a flame between those two families and each competition often ended between the Shurima and the Demacia families fighting over the ruling. The hatred of one another made several families flee the city and escape the, soon to be, chaotic city. Families like Bilgewater and Piltover were the first ones to do so then followed the Yordles. Leaving the four families to fight in the city. Me and my wife left once the families and their allies in the city caused a sort of civil war, we settled here 85 years ago and soon after we left the city we had fought hard to build and protect, was reduced to what it is now and the families spread over the lands of Terruna and form small empires. They were focused on themselves at the beginning until one of the Noxian Lords supposedly gave the order to kill a Ionian man and this was the spark that set the flame to the still raging war, 79 years ago. Why do you ask about the war?"
Thirty years later....
"Capt'n, the Noxians are arriving, they are closing in on the island."
"How many are they?"
"They have many troops and out number our fleet by one to four."
"Spread out our fleet into four groups of five and send them to the lesser ports of the island."
"And you Capt'n? Which group will you go with?"
"I'll take the group attacking our main port, I'll do it myself."
"Yes Capt'n!" He walked out of his home and walked down to his men.
"Groups of five and defend the lesser ports around our island, they will outnumber us but we are the lords of the sea, we will defend our island until we die! Who is with me?"
"WE ARE!" The men said as they charged onto their boats.
"See you on the other side capt'n!" He heard as he dived into the water, he was given the gift of the sea. After a few seconds, he emerged out of the water on the back of a massive deep sea monster called a Colossus, they were the guardians of the island and with his gift that the creator gave him, he could control them. He turned and waved to the ship captains. Let's hope this works out. As he sped through the water, the colossus he rode was a giant serpent-like beast, his beast roared and soon two other colossi, a giant turtle-like beast and a sea wyvern, a bipedal, winged monster. In the distance, he spotted the Noxian fleet, they hadn't split like he thought they would have. They were there, all 80 of them. He didn't have another option, his fleet had already been sent around the island thinking that the Noxians would split up and he only fleet that could get there in time would be there in near an hour. Well, I have to get my hands dirty again. It was the third time the Noxians had attacked and the last time they did they were less and had split up around the island. He pulled out a flare and held it up then didn't fire it. Maybe this is a diversion, I'll do it myself. He cracked his neck and his knuckles. He arrived in front of the Noxian fleet.
"Came to surrender?" The Noxian General called.
"Why do you think that?"
"You are alone, we are many, two other fleets were sent to the other ports."
"Well, I am here for a fight."
"Men! Fire!" He dived into the water and the colossi followed to avoid the cannon fire. The bullets and the cannonballs hit the water and whizzed past him. He sent the wyvern up out of the water in the middle of the ships. He grabbed onto its dorsal fin. It shot out of the water, tearing through the ships above it. The wyvern came crashing down after its leap caused massive waves. The turtle-like colossus created a platform under him and the serpent colossus swan around the fleet, preventing them from getting away. He jumped onto the haul of one of the ships. He called for the turtle once again, who charged into the haul of the ship he was on. A huge hole opened in the haul and the ship started to sink. He dove back into the water and the serpent swam towards him and pulled him around under the ships. The wyvern jumped out of the water once again but missed the ships but still caused massive waves making some of the ships to capsize. The serpent swan in and out of the shipwrecks and killed the survivors that swam in the water, the water around the ships turned red. He swam to the ship where the general was and climbed onto the deck of the ship. He was met at gunpoint by the Noxians.
"What did you think? Did you really think that you could just arrive on our deck and expect no resistance?" He looked around and saw that even the general held him at gunpoint. He called for his colossi and they rose out of the water. The wyvern was behind him, with its giant body towering over them like a mountain to ants. It lifted its arm.
"If you kill me, you will all die, I'll give you a chance," He said, "Leave and return to your leader and tell them that if they want to win, they need to do better."
"Of course," The General said as he lowered his gun, "I think I'll kill you instead," He fired at him, but the bullet went right through him and his body collapsed into water.
"Fooled so easily, I hope you like that silly illusion Beromoth created," The Noxians turned and saw him standing behind them on the railing of the ship, "Do you accept?"
"No!"
"Well then, see you in the creator's domain," He let himself fall back as the wyvern brought its giant arm down crashing onto the ship as the screams went quiet. The shock wave of the hit ran through the water, the ship's pieces sunk. He remained in the water for sometime before surfacing. The fleet had been destroyed, he climbed onto the wyvern's back and it shot out of the water and spread it winged arms and flew into the sky. He looked down and saw that the fleets of the Noxians had failed to take the other ports. The wyvern dived back into the water and left him in the water and swam back to the depths along with the turtle. He climbed onto the serpent's head and it swam back to shore. He sat down and opened the bottle that he pulled from his belt. They never give up do they? He took a drink. At least none of the offensives worked, but we need more ships to defend ourselves. He took another drink. Maybe I should make some sort of plan for that. He went to take another drink. Damn, it is empty, well, I should have some more. He put the empty bottle on his belt. He looked into the distance and saw his island. Home sweet home.
