Chapter 2 - Cassidy

"Capt'n, they split into two bands of 40 and attacked us. We suffered the casualty of one ship but the men are still alive. We destroyed all their ships. Did you fight against any of them?"

"Guess, I even called for Hikli and Beromoth to aid Sevinor. They had a fleet of 80 waiting for us thinking that we wouldn't split up."

"Yes Capt'n, all I think we can say is, Today we won, Tomorrow we win once more!"

"Yes," He said, "I will go rest, make sure to get a new ship and make sure that there are no injuries."

"Very well Capt'n, see you tomorrow," He left and walked back to his house, it was perched on the highest point of the main city on the small peak that overlooked the port. He walked through the streets of his city, he waved to some of the merchants and said hello with a fake smile on his face. He was tired and had a serious problem with drinking. He only left his house only to go get more alcohol or to go a battle or to the local bar with his men. He pushed the door to his house, it was a simple one roomed hut. In the center, there was a table with a map of the island and the seas around it and on the wall there was an old map of Terruna and its empires. His bed was a elevated bed that was attached to the wall and held up by two chains. He had a shelf with three barrels of his life source. He had a chair on the porch of his house, where he spent most of his time. He filled his empty bottle. He took a sip and put it on his belt. He removed his coat and hung it on the coat hook in his house. He walked to the porch and sat in his chair. He stared out to the sea. The sun was beginning its descent through the sky. The sea glowed in a golden tone and the sky changed to an orange tone. He leaned back in his chair and put his legs on the fence. He took another sip from his bottle.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" He sat up surprised, he looked in front of him and saw no-one. He shrugged his shoulders and leaned back once more, "How was your battle?"

He looked around and saw no-one once more, "Hey, Mister funny, show yourself!"

"Correction, Miss," She sighed as she hopped down from the roof of his house, "You still can't recognize my voice."

"Cass, I tired, maybe tomorrow."

"If you are tired, I can help you," She said as she moved her hands down his arms, "I'll be gentle this time," She moved her hands onto his thighs and laid her head on his shoulder.

"No, I need an actual rest," He said as he removed her hands.

"Hmph, don't come whining to me later," She turned and strut down the steps heading back to the town. He sat on his chair for a little while before heading back inside of his house. He sat at his table and looked up at the ceiling, he took another drink. He got up from his seat and walked towards his bed, he sat down on his bed. Maybe I should go to the tavern, do something else than just sit around and do nothing. He put his bottle on the table next to his bed. He sighed and got up. He walked out the door. The moon had showed itself. He slowly walked down the stairs from is house. The soft breeze had turned into violent winds. The air was humid, a storm was approaching. Tonight, I think, we will be at peace, the Noxians are no experts in navigation and a storm would delay their plans. Drops began to fall around him. He looked up and sighed. Rain was something that they saw so often, it rained nearly every two days, but a storm was less common, they mainly happened during the summer but when they did happen, they hit the coast and the town with extreme force, not something that he was looking forwards to. He walked down the empty streets. The downpour had started. He arrived in front of the tavern. He pushed the doors and was greeted by a drunken brawl, the loud talking that overshadowed the music. He walked through the tavern before leaning on the bar counter. The bartender moved in front of him.

"What shall it be, Captain?"

"Something strong."

"Blood Kelp?"

"Anything stronger?"

"The shipment for the inland hasn't arrived, so this is the strongest I have," The bartender said as he looked through the bottles he had, "Shot or glass?"

"Bottle."

"Are you sure?"

"Do I look unsure?"

"Very well," The bartender said as he poured an entire bottle into a glass and pushed it over the counter, "Here you go, Captain," He turned around when he heard shouting outside. Cass, he bolted outside. There she was, in the hands of four men, people he didn't recognize.

"Let go of me!" She tried to fight free from their grasp, "I am not working today!"

"We don't care, you're a whore, and you always will be a whore."

"Let her go," His voice made the men turn to face him, "You heard me, Let her go."

"Get out of here before you get hurt, bitch boy."

"I said let her go, you piece of shit!" One of the men broke from the group and approached him. He pulled out a gun and fired. The man fell to the ground, dead. He walked towards the others. They stared each other down before two of them attacked him. He shot both of them. He walked towards the last man, who put Cassidy in front of him with a knife to her neck.

"Cass, forgive me," A shot rang out. The bullet left through the back of the man, he fell to the ground, dead, dropping the knife. Cassidy looked stunned. She looked down at her arm and saw what he had done. Blood drained out of her arm. The bullet had gone through her arm and killed the man behind her. He walked over to her. He picked her up and walked with her in his arms up to his house. He cleared the table of his maps and laid her down. He took out a bandages and took a bottle off of the table next to his bed. He pulled the chair near the table. He poured some of the alcohol onto her wound and wrapped the bandage around her arm.

"I'm sorry," He said, "I couldn't let you die."

"I thought you wouldn't care less about me," She said as she sat up on the table, "I am just a whore"

"Don't tell yourself that, but what happened?"

"I was walking back to my place and out of nowhere they appeared, like most guys who talk to me, but one of them had a sort of tattoo that resembled the Noxian banner. It scared me, I tried to run but they caught up with me. But how did you find yourself there? At that time?"

"I heard you scream, I ran out of the tavern to see," He said as he removed his coat, "Want me to bring you back to your place?"

"Maybe I could stay over?"

"You really never change, do you?"

"No," She said as he took a drink from the bottle on the table, "But I need to repay you somehow..." She moved off of the table and pushed him into the chair.

"What do you have on your mind, my lady?"

"A Gentleman? I am yours," She said as she sat on his lap and wrapped her arms around his torso. He smirked. Morning had already rolled in. The storm had died down. A small cloud of smoke formed near the ceiling of the house. He put a bottle in the pocket on his belt. He blew smoke into the air. He put his coat on.

"Up already?"

"I have to go scout the seas."

"Don't you have someone to do that for you?"

"Even if I am the leader of these men, I still need to participate in the defense of this island, and of its people," He turned and smiled at her, "That is my main priority," He gently lifted her chin, "Smoke?"

"Sure," She said as she took one from his hand, she put it in her mouth and he lit it, "Cheers."

"Just leave the place how it is."

"Sure thing," She called to him as he left the house and walked down the steps to his house. He walked down the path. He noticed a large group of people crowded in the streets. He walked towards them.

"Capt'n, Noxian men were found dead in the street," The commander of the fleet said rushing towards him.

"I know, I killed them."

"Wait? When?"

"Last night, they attack Cass," He said continuing to walk. He exhaled a cloud of smoke, "I didn't know that they were Noxians, I just did it out of goodwill."

"To defend a whore?"

"Wouldn't you have done the same?" He stopped and turned to him. His expression was serious, he held a gun to the man's forehead, "Don't call her a whore."

"S-Sorry, I didn't mean to anger you, Capt'n," He said as he took a step back, "What else can I call her?"

"She has a name," He said as he put his gun down and walked towards the port.
