Chereads / You Don't Simply Kill a Demon / Chapter 6 - "Noxians"

Chapter 6 - "Noxians"

"Come on in."

"Yes, Capt--," His advisor froze, "Are you sure we shouldn't do this outside?"

"No, don't worry about her."

"Very well, Capt'n," He said as he showed several papers with lists of names on them, "Your speech surely helped the enlistment of these men, even some women joined, so we have more than enough men, with double the amount for each spot."

"Test them, this is about our security and the efficiency of the plan so they need to be perfect."

"Yes Capt'n," He replied, "I shall do as you say."

"Make sure we have enough people making food and collecting the things we need, that will keep us on our feet, without that we will fail."

"Very well, Capt'n," He said as he headed to the door, "I don't think anyone shall disturb you any more today," He turned and glared at him, "I must get going, Capt'n," He sighed and got up, he headed to the bed where Cassidy was asleep. He pulled the chair next to the bed. She looks so relaxed, She'll be asleep for several hours, view how light she is and she isn't the tallest person around. I can go deal with her problems. He got up and left the house locking the door. He walked down the path to the main square. He had one of his men tattoo her father and mother's shoulders with the Noxian banner the night before, so it was time to deal with the "Noxian". Sure, this isn't the best form to get her popular but this will surely make the people realize that she was running from the Noxians and accept her as part of the Bilgewater community, now time to get my hands dirty. He spotted Cassidy's father in the market place. He walked closer to him, before drawing his gun and shouting.

"Don't move, you Noxian scum!" Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the scene that was unrolling in front of their eyes.

"What are you talking about?" He looked confused. His wife moved away from him, "I am not from Noxus, these are my people, this is my home."

"Stop lying, you Noxian piece of shit! I know who you are, it has lasted too long, your time has come!" A shot rang out, he collapsed to the floor.

"Capt'n? What have you done?"

"I got rid of a Noxian in our empire, remove his shirt, look at his back," Two men rushed to the body, they ripped off the shirt.

"Capt'n is right, he has the Noxian banner on his shoulder, tattooed," He turned to the man's wife, he held his gun to her forehead, he pulled back on the hammer, "Give us proof that you are not Noxian, pull down the left side of her shirt, reveal her shoulders," The men did so, "Ha! The Noxian banner! What shall we do with this Noxian bitch? She will die, right here, right now," BANG! Her lifeless body collapsed to the floor. He put his gun away, and signaled to the men to get rid of the bodies, he turned and headed back up the streets of Bilgewater, people applauded him for getting rid of the "Noxians", he went back to see Cassidy. He walked up the path and took a drink. Hopefully she understands why I drugged her. Inhaling Blood Kelp smoke is something that can put you to sleep in a matter of seconds. He unlocked the door. She was still asleep, she hadn't moved at all. He sat on the chair next to the bed and checked her pulse. Thank the Creator, she is fine, the Blood Kelp didn't stop her heart. He took a drink and gently caressed her cheek, "I am sorry," A tear came to his eye, "I betrayed your trust but I hope you understand that I did this for you, so that you could regain a place in society, to live a good life. I did this because I love you," She was still under the effects of the Blood Kelp, he checked her pulse again. It was still fine. He leaned back in the chair and took a drink. He waited until she awoke, "You're awake."

"My head is pounding," She said as she sat up.

"Maybe you are a little sick," He said, "Lie down, you don't need to prove anything to anyone, if you are sick, rest," She lied down once again on the bed, "I have something to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Well, your parents were found to be Noxians, thus I had them killed earlier today."

"My parents are Noxians? Doesn't that make me a Noxian?"

"Remove your shirt and turn around, the mark should be on your shoulder blade," She removed her shirt and turned around, "Well, you have no Noxian mark as far as I am concerned and you were born here so I think you are in the clear."

"Thank you," She said as she put her shirt back on, "But why go through the effort to kill my parents?"

"Well, the people will now believe that if you are with me, you are not Noxian, and aside from that I had something to ask you."

"You did that for me?"

"Why wouldn't I? After all I did letting you down would be a disgrace, only a bastard would do such a thing."

"Thank you then," She said, "I don't know, everything happened so quickly like, the Noxians, the war and now my parents, how could you have not seen it earlier?"

"I wasn't in your life as much nor were you in mine so I didn't look into it so much," He said as he took another drink, "No one deserves to be in the position that you were in," A knock came to the door, "Who is it?"

"It is me, Capt'n," His voice was a little shaky.

"Is everything alright?"

"Yes, I just wanted to meet with you to talk about the policies and the recruitment."

"Wait there, I'll be there," He got up and pulled back the hammer of his gun, He held it forward as he opened the door. A shot rang out. He fell to the ground and shot back.

"You bastard! You fucking bastard!" He said as he got up and looked down at his adviser's dying body, "You piece of shit!" He kicked him in the head and fired several more rounds, "Fuck!" He stumbled to the table, "Give me a bottle and pass me the knife and the bandages," Blood poured out of his shoulder, "That son of a bitch shot me."

"Here you go," Cassidy said as she put the things on the table in front of him. He grabbed the knife and plunged it into his shoulder, he pried it out and a small pellet fell out with it. He took the alcohol and doused his wound before covering it with the bandages.

"Betrayal, after all those years."

"Maybe he was against something you had planned."

"Maybe, but now his voice will never be heard," He said as he got up, "If the people want to rebel, I'll crush that rebellion."

"You should rest, I will be doing that anyways, join me," She said as she helped him with his bandages, "Here, this should help you," She wrapped his shoulder and chest with the bandages and held his arm with the bandages.

"Thanks," He said as he got up, "I have work to get to."

"You should rest," She said, "You are injured," He seemed to ignore her, he ripped the adviser's shirt, no banner. Why did he do that? To overthrow me? He picked up the lifeless body of the advisor and walked down the path. He walked down the main street, people stared at him.

"Capt'n! What happened to you?" One of the fleet captains ran towards him, "Are you okay?"

"Betrayal," He said, "Tell the other captains to meet me in the Captain's Bunker, immediately."

"Very well, Capt'n, I will do that immediately," He dumped the body in a trash pile, and headed towards the meeting hall. I shall show them who the leader of Bilgewater is, I shall not be defaced, for I am the supreme leader of Bilgewater! He entered the meeting hall and sat in the chair in the front of the room. The captains slowly arrived and sat down. Once they were all there, he began to speak.

"I assume you see that empty chair over there," He pointed to the chair were his head advisor sat, "And I assume you can see what happened to my shoulder," His voice was eerily calm. He was leaning back in his chair with his feet on the table in front of him, "Well, today he betrayed me, he shot me in the shoulder earlier today at my house," He said, "He was no Noxian but still I shot back at him, killing him."

"This is why you called us here?" He got up and glared at the captain. He walked towards him and pulled out the knife from his belt and put it to his throat.

"Is that not enough of a reason? Am I not the leader here?"

"Yes, yes Capt'n," The captain's face went pale, "Forgive me for my misstep."

"Don't let it happen again," He said, "For the moment I will need a replacement for my head advisor," He said looking around the room, "I think I have an idea of who it could be."

"Who shall that be, Capt'n?"

"You need not know," He responded, "But right now, I need to know where we are with the recruitment."

"They are completed with qualified men in each sector."

"Have the men be waiting for me in the barracks, I will speak with them personally."

"Very well, Capt'n," One of his advisers said as he left the room.

"As for the rest of you, the captains return to your crews and make sure to scout the seas carefully, if Cassidy's parents were Noxians, Noxus might plan an attack."

"Very well, Capt'n," The captains got up and left the room. Once they were gone he spoke once again, "I need to find out where this insurgence is coming from and if you find out about it, tell me, I will deal with them myself."

"Very well, Capt'n," He was left alone in the room. He lit a cigarette. He sat at the table for a little while. His gun was on the table in front of him. He leaned back in his chair and placed his feet on the table in front of him. He had no one left to trust, he had become an iron tyrant. He had falsified the identities of Cassidy's parents and killed them, he had been betrayed by his head advisor and killed him, and the worst thing he did, in his eyes, was that he drugged Cassidy. Time to get going. He got up from his chair, he picked up his gun and exited the room. He walked out to the marketplace, then suddenly, the attack warning sounded. He removed the bandages on his shoulder. The pain was unbearable but he would be at a disadvantage if he kept it on. He ran to the port and called for Sevinor.

"Capt'n, the Noxians have been spotted in one bunch heading for the city!"

"Split the fleet to defend the ports, last time they did the same and sent fleets in later, be ready to respond for a cannon barrage if they are many," He said as he jumped onto Sevinor's head.

"Very well, Capt'n."
